Hm. You could argue a similar version about zoonosis.
Not only should the world force China with sanctions to forbid wet markets, the west should move away from poultry to prevent the next bird flu dangerous to humans. In fact to lower (eliminate!) risk of zoonosis we must embrace veganism! Instead I encounter that only as a minor talking point in vegan activism (if at all).

The production, distribution and consumption of animal-based products (such as meat, dairy and eggs) is a major risk for zoonotic transmission. Therefore, our perspective is that promoting sustainability, particularly by reducing unsustainable animal-based consumption, must be part of the broader response to reduce the risk of future pandemics.
Instead people shrug. Eh, nothing to be done by Asians eating crazy animals. And vegans much rather want to talk about other stuff like ethics.
At current (though quite high) market value that would be around $20 million per Greenlander.
