The neighborhood of Hampstead is just at present exercised with a series of events which seem to run on lines parallel to those of what was known to the writers of headlines and "The Kensington Horror," or "The Stabbing Woman," or "The Woman in Black." During the past two or three days several cases have occurred of young children straying from home or neglecting to return from their playing on the Heath. In all these cases the children were too young to give any properly intelligible account of themselves, but the consensus of their excuses is that they had been with a "bloofer lady." It has always been late in the evening when they have been missed, and on two occasions the children have not been found until early in the following morning. It is generally supposed in the neighborhood that, as the first child missed gave as his reason for being away that a "bloofer lady" had asked him to come for a walk, the others had picked up the phrase and used it as occasion served. This is the more natural as the favorite game of the little ones at present is luring each other away by wiles. A correspondent writes us that to see some of the tiny tots pretending to be the"bloofer lady" is supremely funny. Some of our caricaturists might, he says, take a lesson in the irony of grotesque by comparing the reality and the picture. It is only in accordance with general principles of human nature that the "bloofer lady" should be the popular role at these al fresco performances.

Well then their hand will have to be forced into it and I can't think of a better force at the moment than the threat of annihilation and subjugation by the Russian bear.
Europe took the "peace dividend" at the end of the cold war and spent it on welfare rather than using it to cut taxes to the levels they were at before WWII, now that dividend is going away and the only place to get this money back is to slash welfare to the levels it was at many decades ago.

The future of Ukraine is Somali and Bangladeshi migrants working on farms owned by American financial institutions and managed by HR women educated in the US.
Still beats becoming a vassal state of Russia. Europe really needs to get off its ass and start arming the Ukrainians properly (it's understandable why the US doesn't seem to care, but Europe doesn't have the same luxury of distance). Yes, this will cost lots of money, but Europe can easily raise this money by massively slashing welfare and benefit spending.

The upcoming Rafah offensive has had me seriously reconsider my support for Israel. At the very least Israel, as the overlord and conquerer, has an obligation to resettle and provide new accommodation for the people of Gaza when it destroys their previous homes.
Much like how it supports the Jewish settlers in the West Bank I don't see why Israel can't support a resettlement project of the Gazans into the West Bank too. It'll cost billions sure, but that's still worth it if Israel annexes Gaza once it's done with its operation. Instead we don't really have any good plan for what will happen to the civilian Gazans after Israel razes their entire land to get at Hamas.
Israel has obligations towards the Palestinians, all the more so because it's destroying their lives at the moment. First moving them south so you can destroy North Gaza and then moving them north so you can destroy South Gaza is not meeting them.

These are recent immigrants who left their family back home to try and get a slightly better life for themselves, however the amount of vitriol aimed at them from all quarters of the white british establishment (high and low) is something to behold. You can make reasonable complaints about them (such as their moped driving being absolutely terrible and a potential danger to public safety because for some reason known only to God and the British state it's possible to drive a moped without a full driving licence as long as you put a big red L on your vehicle) but the attacks coming at them frequently seem to be little more than attacking them for its own sake.
While I personally don't like them either (I also don't dislike them, they just are there) at the very least they know how to properly say "Thank you Sir" when handing over your food, which to me places them above a majority of the "native" people of the UK.

This is a direct consequence of having a culture that values weakness above strength. When the former is valued more than the latter is it any surprise people deliberately try and become weaker to gain status? In his society the status and utility gained by our young man from having two fewer fingers exceeds the amount of utility he would have gained from those two intact fingers so from his point of view what he did was completely rational: It isn't him who is diseased, it is the culture around him.
There is no fix to this problem either. The only way out is replacement by a new culture that doesn't do this. The prognosis is terminal.

You haven't really said much about what bothers you about their way of life
I like the people close to me having basic freedoms like my wife not needing to wear a niqab. I like being able to argue using reason and being able to counter "The good book says X, therefore you are wrong when you claim not X" without being denounced as a heretic. I like being clean shaven (yes, the Taliban imposed a beard requirement on all men the last time they were in power), I enjoy dancing and music etc. etc.
I can go on and on...

Oh boy, if you don't like me you really won't like the Taliban. When I say they are my coethnics I don't just mean they have the same skin colour as me/come from the same part of the world, I mean that I, like a very large portion of them, am Pashtun (complete with tribal affiliation and all that). The values they grew up with are the same as those my parents instilled in me as a child and from where I derive my belief system today, except that I've become extremely westernised (people call me a coconut back home - brown on the outside, white on the inside - and I can't really say they are wrong). I'm like the grown up version of Kamal's son from Kipling's Ballad of East and West after the British system has completely laundered him.
Think me but fundamentalist Muslim when you think of the Taliban and then reconsider whether you want someone like that to rule over you.

Only someone who has never experienced the direct influence of the Taliban would think that way. The Taliban are like fire, they make good servants but bad masters (in the sense that they keep the overton window open for moderate Islam by taking all the attacks which would have come upon moderate Islam otherwise). Putting them incharge of other human beings or in general handing them any power at all ends badly (see how they commit terror attacks when handed power etc., they're even planning on bringing back stoning for adultery!). They work best as zoo specimens, not wild animals.

Interesting you say that, because I as an actual practicing muslim (and coethnic) would far rather have the current batch of western elites over the literal Taliban ruling the place.
Sharia law really isn't something you want in the modern world. The prohibitions on interest alone would destroy the economy far worse than what current elites are doing by not listening to economists/giving in to populists.

It means that nature herself is racist, and reparations are owed in the form of IQ-increasing genetic engineering disproportionally paid for by white people and East Asians.
I genuinely think that if it were presented in these terms far more white people would be open to the idea of reparations: "Gnon was cruel to you, and to atone for our slavery we are going to raise you to the same level as ourselves" <- Very few people could reasonably object to this.

Eh, it really shouldn't matter to you all that much if you are personally smart, that's suggestive that your family is also relatively smart and that (assuming you pick a good partner), your descendents will also be decently smart (regression to the mean notwithstanding, unfortunately the influence of your family on your children doesn't "factor through" you completely).
It's just so unfair
Life is what life is. There are highly intelligent people rotting away in the third world while 80 IQ clueless imbecilles in western welfare states who only have it in them to take out more than they put in live decent and comfortable existances. No amount of rage from me or anyone else at this injustice is going to change this so I've come to accept it and move on. I have extended family in the former situation too so it's not like this is just a theoretical problem for me.
(I also believe intelligence gives rise to moral worth, I'd happily eat a chicken - provided it was slaughtered in a Halal way - I very much would not eat a chicken that had human level intelligence and would be horrified if such a being was treated like how we treat chickens today)

Looking at it in more depth you seem to be right. Also the electric arc furnace seems to work by taking scrap steel as input instead of iron ore like the blast furnace does. This changes my view of the project significantly, I'm now much less in favour of the change. I wouldn't even call the new thing a steel producer, it's more a "steel recycler".

These jobs are never coming back. The UK manufactures more today in real value terms that it ever did in the past, but automation means we need fewer and fewer jobs each year to support this manufacturing. This trend is not going to change and if anything is going to accelerate (see how Tata is closing down their old labour intensive steel furnace and replacing it with a more efficient highly automated furnace that's going to pump out a lot more steel with a lot fewer workers). These towns and regions are dead and will stay dead. People need to realise this and move on.

Eh, this is a bit too doomer in my opinion. Sure, the UK is doing worse than the US (and will probably continue doing worse than them) but it's absolutely not the highest alpha country to get a put on. Many many Western European countries have the same problems we have but even worse, plus they don't have English either acting as a draw for high end immigrants (which the UK disproportionately gets compared to the dregs that end up in Europe). I'd take out puts on France, Spain and Canada before I took them out on the UK, perhaps even Germany before the UK (their demographics are down the toilet, average age is approaching 50).
Planning and building is absolutely fucked but I have hope that when Starmer takes power later this year he'll swiftly liberalise the system: it's basically the only way left to stimulate growth as even he now realises the government can't just spend their way out of this crisis.
I'm actually putting my money where my mouth is: with the upcoming tax year and renewed ISA allowance I'm strongly considering investing the money in a FTSE 250 ETF instead of the standard S&P 500 one I usually buy (deep down part of me already knows I'll regret this, but who knows, also the usual disclaimer: this is not financial advice yada yada).

I don't know how the FOSS world can evolve to a more egalitarian, democratic world.
If this happens the end result for FOSS will be even worse than what we have at the moment. Both of the two things you write of generally lead to shittier end results (the first one basically tautologically, the second one because the demos is generally shittier than those who have the will to power in them to create great things in the first place).

The Chinese and Indian women I work with take full advantage of the generous FAANG benefits to help produce and take care of children.
This is basically my plan on what I'd like me and my future wife to do once I get married and we have children. Basically I coach her (if she needs coaching, I can't imagine I would ever marry a woman who doesn't have it in her to get hired at a FAANG if pushed, even if she's a doctor or something) to get a decent job at one of these big companies (finance jobs don't work here, your ability to take from the company if you're not putting in is much more limited, you have to have a big institution where the system is not set up to deal with such a mindset and can't change easily to suck at the teat of), then she gets pregnant and has a child and we keep drawing her full salary plus large maternity benefits for us and then soon after she returns to work she gets pregnant again and we repeat the process. Rinse and repeat until our family is at the desired size. Getting paid FAANG money to raise kids is about as excellent a lifestyle as most women can hope for, plus all those years on maternity technically count as "experience" so if she does want to work once our kids are old enough she has a decent CV still present.

Sure, that's a good argument for protectionism from a western prespective (much as I would dislike it). However just because one argument for something is good doesn't mean all arguments for it are good, and we can still tell a lot about people from the types of bad arguments they make.
The "they take all our jerbs!" refrain against immigration is fundamentally selfish and rent seeking. It needs to be called out and ruthlessly mocked whenever it shows up.

And why shouldn't I be happy like this? We're slowly winning over the west in a completely peaceful and bloodless manner and that is a cause for celebration because I genuinely believe our system is better than the western system. Funnily enough I think the western system is better for someone like me than our system but for society as a whole and those lower down on the human hierarchy it's the opposite. Instead of being selfish and promoting the western way I look at the bigger picture and support what I think is best for society instead of me personally.
Normally transitions between systems are times of upheaval and suffering but the transformation we are slowly effecting is one of the most peaceful ones of this scale that has ever happened in human history. This is a good thing.
To quote a Magic the Gathering card: "On the day of victory, no one is tired".
Because I was called out for being too late with my nothingburger prediction before I'll make sure to get it in early this time around.
