My word choices are once again not optimal. What I meant was, if there was a bishop of rome, and also a different person whos the head over all the churches, christs vicar on earth etc., the way the pope is for the catholics now, would that be fine?

To be clear, Im in favour of all three points. I dont want to say agree, since Im an atheist and that would make it even weirder than it already is, but Im anti-gnostic.
I'm not against the idea of holy objects or corpses, but relics imo verge into idol worship, where they seem to have power of their own.
Certainly some people do that. I think personally seeing and maybe interacting with a semi-important piece of Gods history can have a big impact on someone. Its not separate in the sense that its an inevitable part of whatever happened to and with it in the first place. Visiting the holy land is similar, and propably seems less idolatrous.

Is a sacrificial animal harmed by what you do to its flesh after the sacrifice? And yet that is clearly its body that youre eating. I dont think theres anything contradictory about it being both Jesus flesh and not part of his current living body. And since its apparently fine that heaven is made from divine matter thats invisible, I dont think the lack of apparent changes is a problem either.

I dont think the Father is non-physical because its "better". I think its a continuation of jewish belief, and continues to draw some justification from the (reduced) image prohibition.
I wonder what you think of the Real Presence and relics? They seem in a similar spirit as physical resurrection to me.

There was a time when the pope was basically chosen by italians only, but with the elections today, is there really a relevant way in which Rome is asserting primacy here, if the doctrinal points are compatible? It seems to me that the church would be "overall democratic" either way - its rather about more vs less centralisation.

Heaven is basically another dimension. Point A in heaven doesn't correspond in any way with point B on Earth.
I dont think its really that defined. If you wanted to make it into a scientific model, this propably fits the typical opinions pretty well, but Im not sure you need to. As an analogy, what would happen if roadrunner and coyote were to run into the tunnel holding hands? AFAIC, once youre in the realm of basically-magic already, its fine to say NULL.
Also Im pretty sure the mormon astronaut thing did involve other planets at one point.

The one you linked is pretty lame, but I liked the meme overall. IMO the good version is the one thats just him with lightning coming from his hands, eg 1, 2. To me at least the "evil" part of it isnt relevant, its that the picture looks consistent in a way it wouldnt for a lot of people. In part because of the ritual setup, and in part his body language - he seems confident in a way that Francis for example didnt.

Maybe I started this off on the wrong foot. I too miss hlynka. I was on the mod team when his problems started, and none of us wanted to have to kick him. I think his case makes it clear that this is not an inevitable consequence of bucking the local consensus, because he would post the same ideas sometimes productively and sometimes unproductively. He also didnt claim to be treated unfairly, and often the opposite. This makes a lot of sense given his general approach, and I dont like you claiming it on his behalf

If you threaten to shoot me and I leave I did not ‚self-deport‘ of my own free will.
(1) Being banned is not actually worse than leaving, while shooting is. (2) He may have behaved better on other topics, and learned the expected communication style eventually. You dont actually think being condescending was necessary to make his point, no? Most users dont start with a top-level post, and the ones who do are high-variance and a bit negative in terms of rule-following.

It may be petty, but I made one of the very few comments to engage with his claims without going into unsaid implications/communism generally, and he didnt respond.
Im pretty sure I do understand what hes asking for and didnt make a bigger response because its largely pointless, and he really wasnt very clear about what he wanted. The top level was just enough for me to be unsure, and I had to read quite a few of his responses to know, and hes being condescending to everyone for not knowing it right away. I still wouldnt ban someone for one thread like this, and he wasnt: he was warned and then self-deported.

Why do you think it is that any right-populist politician with serious chances has these character problems? Like, I often read something like "Orban is just cynically using anti-immigration/wokeness so he can stay in power and crony it up", and I dont necessarily disagree... but why isnt there anyone using it for good or even neutral goals? Parties picking up issues and demographics for electability is pretty normal, except here anyone who does so is beyond the pale for claimed-independent issues. You can be an ultralefty and argue that borders are intrinsically anti-democratic or something, but what do the liberals making this claim actually believe?

The main reason for LLM scepticism is this impression can be extremely deceiving. I had totally missed how little mathematical understanding my classmate actually had, even in years of helping him, until he made a very specific kind of mistake once. And it goes way further than that: It seems like most humans "know in principle" how to count, even if they only have words for the low numbers. But they dont! Counting to ~7 is done with pattern recognition. Dogs can count to 3. Higher numbers are counted with the recursive method, and you dont get any closer to that by improving pattern recognition. That might get you something that can count to 100, if you give it enough compute, but thats not actually any closer to the new kind of intelligence youd want.
If its not about whats right, then in what sense do you want an alternative? In a purely conceptual sense, denying any ownership rights is an alternative.

I guess I dont expect anything of this impact to be vulnerable in a well understood way that basically anyone could exploit, else it would be down a lot more often. And even if you think the window might close, then gain from doing it like this, even if youre never found out, is ~zero. I doubt those triggers are worth pulling any time before the "enemy has a war economy" stage.
