Can you learn to use the shift key?

Any time someone appeals to tradition you should ask whose tradition and when? Back in colonial New England civil divorces were granted for reason of spousal abandonment. So you could just bail on your spouse and they'd get a civil divorce in your absence.

Lots of things are like that. Interracial marriage wasn't common in 1750, but it was legal and accepted. But in 1950 it was very much illegal and almost universally opposed across much of the United States.

I'm not going to greatly respect the hallowed traditions of 1950 in opposition to 1650, 1750 and 1970. Norms and traditions drift in a variety of ways in various places. Then a modern 2024 Conservative cherry picks one they happen to like and declare it to be Tradition, can't be frivolously tearing down Chesterton's fence, etc.

Having no enormous respect for a carefully chosen set of norms and laws circa 1950, and since we're a few generations into the current set of laws and norms, I'm going to follow the good example of Conservatives and declare the current norms to be Tradition and warn everyone not to too easily tear down this fence.

We've had it since the 1960s. Please recalibrate what are proposed radical changes to long established norms.

BAP is a jewish nationalist who preaches individualism for the goys. His goal is to turn the west into a free market with free movement of people and goods.

The other side are white nationalists who want to preserve European civilization.

The wicked Jewish badwronger vs the righteous good-doer white nationalist.

This is just cheerleading for white nationalism while dunking on the perfidious Jew. Truly content-free other than a big sneer.

When that film came out I recall historians claiming that it was wildly inaccurate. As a matter of historical fact: the last day of Jesus's life did not occur as depicted in that film. It's not a documentary or factual historical reenactment.

Crucifixion was a really painful and drawn-out way to die. So that was approximately correct and of course believed by Christians. But the wildly exaggerated scourging and out of control Roman soldiers was fictional torture porn for torture porn's sake.

In more extraordinary circumstances, this may result in BLACKED-adjacent behavior and beastiality

Of all the things to share a sentence. Having sex with animals or black people. You know, comparable examples of "extraordinary" deviance.

But no. "State marriages" have always allowed postmenopausal women, etc. These hypothetical state interests don't align with the actual laws and norms of American or broader Western culture throughout its history. In fact I'm very suspicious that this was invented very recently to dunk on gay people in a way that would never be applied to postmenopausal women or combat veterans whose balls were blown off.

The fertility argument appears so suddenly and arbitrarily. So narrowly tailored to strike at one particular small group.

Care to proactively provide evidence for this inflammatory claim? You have the relevant stats to share?

At the top of the page I see liquid metal. Scrolling down I see a drawing of a medieval fortress.

That's an easy assertion to make. But I have no reason to think that is better than the previous norm of a married couple working together to contrive a fake at-fault divorce.

I was going to say: I see him making lots of assertions, but not backing them up with external sources. Something like a table of donations by race could have helped.

I idly wondered if he was just making up this whole explanation. Thanks for fact checking.

My negative reaction to their special comparison equating sex with animals and black people is downvoted. Not to take voting too seriously, but something a bit silly is happening for this one.

Tarrant wasn't engaging in optimal behavior. He was putting on as sensational a show as possible.

I don't dispute that it is physically possible to empty a shotgun into a group of innocent people and then switch to a rifle. I dispute the relative operational efficacy of such a plan.

Tarrant did just that. That's not at all evidence that switching long arms rather than reloading is a good plan. That's not a data point that contradicts me.

I wish you could spend a day shooting with me. Your misunderstanding would wash away.

I like bitter rich tastes. I don't like the gross sickly sweet taste of sweetened coffee. Call it an affectation if you must, but I take my coffee black.

Link is broken.

hurts savers

Yes. If your savings are literally a pile of bills under your mattress. But if your savings are invested in some non-cash manner, let's say an index fund for example, then you aren't hurt as a saver.

trying to run as a war hero when he was anything but

I can't believe I'm leaping to Kerry's defense, of all people, but based on my memories of reviewing his service record, he's much closer to war hero than pretender.

They really did him dirty.

I read political news and vaguely have some sense that he is famous for his corruption. But of course the media lies like the lying liars they are. Maybe I fell for their tricks.

But as a terminal political news addict, I refuse to personally review the evidence in this state-level impeachment case. I will bow out of that task and also not take back any claims regarding the power of naked partisanship. Which this might be.

Or maybe the prosecutors were such bumbling morons that only all Democrats and a few select Republicans would lower themselves to performatively vote guilty. And the other Republicans who voted to acquit were honestly voting their conscience.

I guess that's possible. I'm not so invested in Texas state politics that I will be critically evaluating the primary sources.

Ken Paxton acquitted:

On one hand yes. But, only Republicans voted to acquit and a mix of Republicans and Democrats voted to convict. I accept this as a display of partisan power rather than a display of innocence.

The old joke that a politician in a majority district could only lose if they were caught in bed with a live boy or a dead girl comes to mind. Corrupt partisan supported by most of his fellows. Nothing more or less.

The fact that some Republicans turned on him is a black mark, but ultimately irrelevant.

It's trivial true that somewhere in all the internet there is some video that is both "blacked" and cuckold. Just like "blacked" is not anal or any other fetish, but some tiny portion of those videos will also include other categories of porn.

But we can't use the standard of a single counterexample in discussions. In all the content online and all the various interactions of hundreds of millions of Americans and billions of people, there must be some small set of Chinese robbers or "blacked" porn where they decided to something different than normal and added some guy to play a cuck.

Perhaps someone could even make a larger sensible point using those examples. But OP didn't. He merely dropped the incrediblyinflammatory statement about "extraordinary circumstances" such as sex with animals and black men. Not cuckoldry. Not some other reasonable point that you or I could come up with.

Rather than addressing some reasonable point that OP didn't make, I addressed their actual simple and clear statement. Charitability is not disregarding someone's words in order to substitute in unrelated but more sensible claims.

He, in fact, looked far more vulnerable when he had to reload his rifle compared to when he had to chuck away an empty shotgun to present a loaded rifle.

Don't over-learn from one example. Reloading is massively faster than throwing away a long gun and drawing a second one. Tarrant be damned in many ways: he was doing the wrong thing and doing it wrong.

This whole discussion is so fundamentally wrong that I can only write it off as video game logic. I know I'm lapsing into "just trust me bro" territory, but this is just dumb. This isn't how it works. Learn to shoot and see how comically wrong this idea is.

Then you believe a civilization that would extinct itself in one generation

Come now. Gay people are capable of reproduction. We are all familiar with the existence of sperm donation and surrogacy.

the TSA doesn’t care in the slightest

I know California cops don't particularly care. But I sure would have thought that the TSA would enforce Federal drug laws. A gram of cannabis wax is probably a big problem to get caught with in an airport.

If they got caught with less than a gram of wax in an airport? Straight to jail.

Okay. I had a really good username that exceeds 25 characters. But this will do.

Also thanks setting this up, coming from a long time pre-Motte culture war roundup poster.

Edit: 2 posts in an someone's downvoting everything. Both of us are at zero. Please consider abandoning reddit voting. Having an option to downvote at all is too much for most.

Edit 2: Someone sent me the reddit suicide report message. From 'System', so they are abusing baked in features. Really off to a dramatic start.
