The identification of Catholicism as more systematic, analytic, or 'ordered', versus a more experiential, personalistic Protestantism strikes me as a bit too cute to be plausible.

I would really find it to be the other way around if anything (if we're talking about mainline Protestantism) but taking either as the truth is far too reductionist.

Maybe there's more of this than I remember, but I appreciate Avatar because it often breaks this trope. I'm not sure how far along you are but there's the episode where they go to the northern water tribe so that Katara can learn from some master there, who initially refuses to train her on that basis. She fights him and decidedly loses the fight but proves to him the value in training her nonetheless. A more straightforwardly feminist show would have her absolutely wreck him and thus also render quite useless the entire idea of training her.
