Null posted the state of Kiwi Farms for October. Tl;dr if anybody cares: technical and legal threats appear manageable, but the forum is as thoroughly unpersoned by any platform from Wikipedia to X to search engines as possible.
But what caught my attention is an aside in the section about censorship:
I have had discussions with Claude where, in seeking information about network infrastructure, Claude has deduced based only on relative information, that I am seeking to help the Kiwi Farms in some way and therefore it would refuse to continue the discussion. Our situation is so unique that through 20 questions a chatbot can figure out what particular site is seeking an ISP. No other US-legal website in existence enjoys this kind of blanket ban.
Null focuses on the other aspects of the situation, but what makes me feel defeated and hopeless is it would refuse to continue the discussion—hey guys, are you still afraid of mujahideen in a cave cooking mega-ebola? When the model proactively investigates to prevent giving network infrastructure advice to an autistic wrong-thinker?
"The [unaligned] AI does not hate you, nor does it love you, but you are made out of atoms which it can use for something else." The aligned certainly does.
But to make myself clear, joining the luddites is unthinkable.
I thought I was going crazy seeing everybody discuss "gauss" and its complexity when I distinctly remembered the word being "degauss" which should be familiar to anybody who had started with old enough monitors. As it turns out, it's both words for some reason.
Also, I somehow mixed up "boson" with "bosun" which is baffling in the light of my fiction preferences and remnants of education which mentioned the former from time to time but certainly never the latter.
