Pretty much. And the stunt earlier this week with the former activist who became an OpenAI employee and then “quit” and somehow got 100 million views on X was interesting as well. I am really concerned about what will happen when the IPO gives these people hundreds of billions of dollars. They are obviously extremely political and partisan.

OpenAI is name-mogging Anthropic.
It wasn't too long ago that the reverse was true. With OpenAI you had models like "text-davinci-003", "GPT-4o mini" and "o1-preview". And their flagship product, ChatGPT, was created by accident with an accidental name as well.
Meanwhile with Anthropic, you had "Opus", "Sonnet", and "Haiku", fun and illustrative words to demonstrate the sizes of the different models. They obviously missed an opportunity to create a porn-centric "Limerick" model, but we can't really fault them for that. Anthropic's nominative dominance peaked earlier this year with the release of "Mythos", a model which was so powerful they had to hold it back for testing, not because of lack of compute, never that, but because of the extreme danger such a powerful, nay Mythical, model might pose to humanity. Sadly, you didn't get to use Mythos. Instead you got a version called Fable, which is like a bedtime story for children. Don't act out though, because if you say the naughty words, you get downgraded to Opus, which is now considered trash.
OpenAI meanwhile got its mojo back with its 5.6 models, named "Luna", "Terra", and "Sol" model. Okay, obviously they are stealing Anthropic's small, normal, big convention but this naming scheme has legs. That was demonstrated when they released GPT-6 "Astra". Now that's a frickin' cool name.
Rumor is the next version will be called "Aeon", which is a step backward in my book, but they've got some potential big guns to release in the future. GPT 7 – "Nova". GPT 7.1 - "Supernova". They're unlikely to use "Galaxy" due to the Samsung connection, but your own personal bot swarm might be GPT 7.2 - "Constellation". All of this sets the stage for the final hurrah GPT 8 - "Light Cone".

He did a lot of good writing before becoming a full time troll. But is he EHC? I'm not sure.
Sailor's Law of female journalism states "The most heartfelt articles by female journalists tend to be demands that social values be overturned in order that, Come the Revolution, the journalist herself will be considered hotter-looking."
And while true, this attitude is not confined to female journalists. Swap out "hotter-looking" with "higher status" and its true for male journalists too.
Hanania is not what we would call high status. He is not good looking. Women do not want him. Men do not aspire to be him. Is he even rich? Probably not. Does a group of followers look up to him? Not really.
Being EHC is not merely be good at writing, or good at math. Those are virtues, but not the only ones, and not the most important ones either. Defining EHC as high IQ is an autistic, Bay Area way of looking at things. EHC also means being a leader, being able to work towards a common goal, being kind and strong, having empathy. If I'm on a boat in the ocean with limited rations and no map, do I want Richard Hanania in my boat with me or the median suburban dad?
The people he hates are better than him in real ways, even if his IQ is higher.

Fair enough, and that was a bad example on my part. A better example is the Russiagate hoax. That's a conspiracy theory. And probably 90% of Democrats still believe it or pretend to.
I don't think there's a substantive difference between the two parties in terms of their ability to believe false things, even outlandish conspiracies. It's just that the left is able to put the imprimatur of respectability on things, thereby allowing high status people to maintain false beliefs long after its obvious they are false.

MLK is still a sacred cow 58 years after a death and it's considered extremely taboo to mention bad things about him. And that's despite the fact that he was perceived very unfavorably by the public in the years before his death. The left's ability to canonize him is impressive and that power should not be taken lightly. Near total narrative dominance.
Nevertheless, I certainly wouldn't use the anniversary of his death or MLK day to write about all the bad things he did. We 363 other days to do that.

Fully fine to talk about him including negative things. I think the article is trash, but that's another issue.
The bigger issue is using an anniversary or something similar to get clicks. It's like, okay you think MLK was a bad guy who did lots of bad things? Okay, legit viewpoint, but maybe not something you want to write an article about on the 1 year anniversary of his death hoping to draw attention to yourself. It's just ghoulish behavior.
I would never suggest, by the way, that the mods should delete this or that people shouldn't be allowed to talk about it. Certainly not here.
But we're also free to have a meta conversation of why we don't like it.

Social security is screwing over one group in particular, but its not blacks. The group that loses out the most is men in blue collar jobs earning wages near the cap. Low earning women are the greatest beneficiaries.

Are you sure about that? Leftist conspiracy theories are arguably much worse because they tend to be held by people in positions in power, compared to the powerless yokels who have right-wing conspiracy theories.
Example conspiracy theory: African-American test scores are the result of systematic racism. And the higher you go up in the Democratic Party structure, the more common this belief is.
Dingbats like Tucker and Candace, on the other hand, have low status audiences.

Yeah, if I was going to write something like this I wouldn't use the first anniversary of their death to get clicks. Hanania is famous for this sort of trollish behavior.
But respect for the dead shouldn't be a partisan issue. If some lunatic were to shoot Hanania himself, I'd find something positive to say about him or at least bite my tongue.

Grave dancing on the anniversary of a young man’s tragic death (by assassination no less) is extremely poor taste.
We shouldn’t give people who write stories like this clicks. It’s despicable and he knows exactly what he’s doing. Remind me again why we are supposed to care about what this person thinks. As far as I can tell, his influence is zero, except for a growing cadre of haters.

George W. Bush had a 94% approval rating in 2001. People said it didn't matter who you voted for since both parties are the same. John Jackson vs. Jack Johnson was a meme.
Then woke happened and half the country got otherized.

Agree with all of this except K-shaped doesn't match 2026. Working class wages are rising faster than others. The perception of the K-shape comes from the upper middle class who are most affected by elite overproduction. Not coincidentally, they are the same ones who do most of the narrative production.

Yes, and Reagan benefited in a big way from taking over at the right time.
Volcker collapsed the economy by raising interest rates in 1979. This worked as intended, driving inflation from 15% down to just 3% four years later. But of course it weakened the economy too. Just in time for the 1980 Presidential election, which Reagan won easily.
The economy continued to suck until 1982. But Volcker's bitter medicine cured the patient, and by the 1984 election, the US economy was experiencing terrific growth with low inflation. Reagan wiped the floor with Mondale, taking a record 49 states.
Boomer conservatives want Trump to be like Reagan. But they can't recreate the magical conditions that allowed him to thrive. Both parties today want the other party to take the bitter medicine.

I'm at a loss. Medicare Part D? Halliburton seems like a better fit, but that's not domestic.
I don't have many reasons to like Bush, give me one. What did he do to help Republicans? He wasted a historical mandate, badly bungled two wars, expanded the welfare state, and now campaigns for Democrats. He's the worst Republican in modern history.
The debt and deficit exploded under Reagan. In the words of the immortal Dick Cheney: "Reagan proved that deficits don't matter".
His biggest legacy is a giant increase in military spending to force the Soviets to respond, thereby collapsing their empire. And good on him for it. No doubt he'd also be in favor of the current Iran conflict, which we are doing on a shoestring budget in comparison.
But of course it's very easy to be in favor of dead conservatives who you assign any beliefs you like to. No doubt there were "conservatives" in the 1980s who claimed to have voted for Eisenhower, but now encouraged people to vote for Mondale because Reagan was "too radical".
