I can't see any big difference between your approach and my own, and the closest I've come to being stood up was when I arrived at the agreed place, texted my date to let her know I was there, and she texted back with something about how she was busy, and had forgotten, and it was late, and she had an early start tomorrow, but she'll grab her coat and meet me for one quick drink anyway. Maybe it's the extra quarter inch of height that does it.
More often it was myself trying to back out of a date that I inadvertently set up by messaging women I wasn't interested in while I was drunk and the brakes were off, or women I talk to where we have a great rapport online but who live too far away for meeting up to be feasible. All the same I'd never flat out stand them up or ghost them.
