The unexpectedness of a post-trib Rapture can be accounted at least two ways.
First, there are good enough explanations for all four Rapture scenarios that all have large numbers of adherents. (Pre-trib, mid-trib, post-trib, no Rapture). This leads to the Unexpected Hanging Paradox even after the mid-trib passes with no Rapture.
Second, fallen angels can read the Bible and try to hijack the human interpretations of the prophecies with a confusing array of pseudo-Messiahs, only the final one of which is the Man of Lawlessness, the Antichrist. In fact, it’s to their advantage: the more they promulgate, the more souls give up on Messiah entirely.
I myself around 2008 facetiously and satirically calculated Christ’s return in 2030 (crucifixion in AD 30 + 2000), with the real Antichrist showing up in 2023 (2030-7) to “save” us from the penultimate pseudo-Messiah who would be revealed in 2016 (2023-7). And then Donald Trump was elected in 2016… and 2024. So I’ve learned not to play with prophecy.
