The Wednesday Wellness threads are meant to encourage users to ask for and provide advice and motivation to improve their lives. It isn't intended as a 'containment thread' and any content which could go here could instead be posted in its own thread. You could post:
-
Requests for advice and / or encouragement. On basically any topic and for any scale of problem.
-
Updates to let us know how you are doing. This provides valuable feedback on past advice / encouragement and will hopefully make people feel a little more motivated to follow through. If you want to be reminded to post your update, see the post titled 'update reminders', below.
-
Advice. This can be in response to a request for advice or just something that you think could be generally useful for many people here.
-
Encouragement. Probably best directed at specific users, but if you feel like just encouraging people in general I don't think anyone is going to object. I don't think I really need to say this, but just to be clear; encouragement should have a generally positive tone and not shame people (if people feel that shame might be an effective tool for motivating people, please discuss this so we can form a group consensus on how to use it rather than just trying it).

Yeah I said weeks for a reason. It's a process of creating new connections in your brain in order to bypass the control from the slow and clumsy conscious and deliberate control of movements to the fast and fluid autopilot. Like learning to touch type. The screwy part about juggling is you can't slow down to decrease the difficulty like you could if you were learning to play an instrument or something like that. You can throw the balls a little higher but that's of limited usefulness. There's definitely a learning wall from practicing what feels like stupid baby time-wasting 2-out-of-3 ball juggling to adding in the third ball and not having enough hands free anymore.
I fucked it up and learnt how to do it wrong the first time so I had to unlearn that at the same time.
It's worth sticking with if you have the patience though. The first time I successfully made the full rotation of a really challenging pattern it literally felt like my brain was throwing the switch on a whole new path of neurons that had finally connected. Most pronounced natural high I've ever had.
There's a whole mathematical notation for the patterns if you really get into it but I bounced off that aspect.
