Yeah the current Western system has very little ability to corral somebody who's already committed to pressing the defect button.
Most deterrents require some level of capitulation and the worst case is generally prison which in an absolute historical human welfare standard isn't really that bad.

As somebody from a country where civilian firearm ownership is barely a thing I broadly agree. The vanishingly small likelihood I or somebody I know having a firearm available for self defense in a time of need seems to not outweigh the additional risk that comes with firearms being way more likely to be present in random aggressive interactions.

Hasn't the world itself been broadly a project that's been good to white men and middling towards other groups?
For fairly large stretches of American history I'd also imagine the gap between the average African American and African African was far more pronounced and positive in terms of lifespan and affluence than between the average US white male and the global average white male. Couldn't you thus argue that the American project has done more to uplift Africans than anything else?

I don't really see the point of taking this for the Palestinians and I'd consider myself broadly in team Israel. Or atleast I think a lasting Israeli victory is the most likely to maximize happiness in the region for the Palestinian population if they cease agitating.
IMO this is likely the peak of Palestinian sympathizing as a media/cultural force. Inevitably this will kick off again within months or years and the IDF will resume absolutely mauling whatever resistance Palestine can present aside from random civilian terrorism.

I mean the white elephant thing depends on vehicle. If you're fortunate enough to work for a large liquid traded firm it's easy enough to redeem but for a lot of other people it's nebulous startup equity options kinda stuff or privately held firms where it's a mess

A huge chunk of the issue here is that no enforcement for literal decades have vastly increased the stakes for illegal immigrants and their ability to embed.
I think the current Right approach is a combination of wanting to score points with their base by passing a vibe check, and also believing that intimidation is the best way to facilitate meaningful self deportation.
I know a handsome male gynecologist who was fairly explicit about exposure to attractive females in the training pathway being part of his decision making
