"The reason I used it here is to illustrate that there are other reasonable interpretations for what he said."

Your LLM excerpt wasn't reasonable, it was dumb. If the options are dumb or Da Joos, okay.

I use the Twin Peaks filter:

It's all a dream.

That doesn't mean it's not real!

It doesn’t need to be a majority of women. Just like with Islamism and Socialism, my concern is if there's more support than I am comfortable with before I let the preference cascade do its usual slide. And as we all know, society has had a weakness when it comes to bending itself to satisfy a 'loud minority' once it exceeds a low threshold.

This also not a case being witnessed in a vacuum. The discomfort comes from watching the typical excuse making and minimization extend even to something this heinous. Nor do I think much turns on wether shes 'truly insane'. The question is what to do in the aftermath any way. If the father had murdered his children in a psychotic break, many men may also have a degree of sympathy or understanding for him. My hunch is that none of them would strenuously object if it was determined he still needed to be hung.

But yes, I too would like to see a decent poll on the matter. The displays outside the court and the online defensiveness is distortive. It is also not a clean break away from the kind of soft-pedaling I've encountered irl.

The phenomenon itself isnt new. But it does feel like it may have been 'undercounted' in a pre-internet era because there was less opportunity to broadcast and receive it. And if you think female conformity, feminized societies, and social contagion are 'real things', the obvious question is if this is reinforcing and perpetuating things towards negative ends.

This is just another iteration of the 'wait, you think this too?' cycle that's been going on for years now. What's novel is seeing the extent of it now that everybody's veils have been lifted, and the sense that we're witnessing a cult-like level of solidarity that's extended to all members for almost any crime... unless you're Shiloh Hendrix and said the forbidden word.

I don't know who originated the comment that if Lindsay strangled three puppies you'd only see the knives out for her, but it rings true to me.

Surely that example deserves an asterisk. It was one bulwark breached in a 'hostile takeover' by a man who could survive based on his Fuck You money, and is mostly notable for being a continued exception to the dominant speech norms solely due to the way it bypassed the entrenched network effects.

This is not symmetry.

I think I've made a similar post to this in the past. I'm sure I was told about hand placement by someone, but it wasnt officially drilled into me. Ambient culture, context awareness, and (frankly) a baseline of intelligence? The rationale for keeping hands visible at all times just seemed intuitive and sensible.

This isn't some RTS where you get to micro every local unit. One of the main criticisms against the protestors (and the reason for a growing absence of sympathy for them) is that they are intentionally engineering scenarios where violence and even fatalaties become a statistical inevitability. There is no way to avoid 'giving a free win' in that kind of rigged game, short of just packing up and leave.

Other places cooperate, or at least dont display this level of constant obstruction and intransigence.

There was a similar streak running through the height of MeToo and the craze over women allegedly being sexually abused or mistreated.

After that night, she was:

1 - Skittish, withdrawn, flighty, uncommunicative, outwardly depressed.

Clear signs of trauma. Tell-tale indicators of abuse.

2 - She was outgoing, social, active, and saw the guy several times afterwards, expressing excitement to her friends.

...Also clear signs of trauma! Also indicators of abuse! Just repressed. Textbook diagnosis.

Which - y'know - both can be true depending on the person. It's also completely convenient and unworkable.

I had a coworker who got held up at gunpoint while opening a store in the AM. By the time I came in, he had a large grin plastered to his face and was almost hysterically laughing. Superficially not what what one may expect, but still registered as obvious trauma to me because of how erratic and unhinged he was. I get that peoples' nerves can fray differently.

But that's not what I see with Good.

Ah yes, so afraid of ICE that their defense mechanisms of smugging to the agents and sincerely recommending a lunch schedule were triggered.

Now that we've learned what has (somehow and bizarrely) been affirmed for you from this video, could you tell us if it contradicted any of your prior take on the situation?

Should it have to be?

I dont think I ever had that officially instructed to me in some class. Just something you pick up on from family and relatives in addition to being intuitively obvious.

KOTOR 2 is my go-to shield when somebody accuses me of just wanting more of the same, or not appreciating the brilliance of subversion.

You could argue even that game is pushing against the limits of what the SW universe can really tolerate. But you never get the sense the writer is scoffing at the pillars he's working with.

Yes, you can have 'dark, questioning' Star Wars. But you need to be competent and respectful.

Both. Because for better or worse, I have the intuitive sense that holding up the process is going to make things WORSE for me.

And I have at least one instance where being uber cooperative likely SAVED me from the worst that could happen - and I was absolutely guilty.

I actually don't act this way with authority figures. Even if their apprehension of me is unjust. Nor do most people I know.

Nobody is even bothering to claim it is AFAIK.
