I know society has started to wake up from this, but it's still so shocking to see how much political capital was burnt on the left over the past generation over this bizarre ideology, and how everyone that dared to question it was scolded, chided, or threatened off as some heretic.
It's one thing to have misjudged the school, but for an investigative journalist to have apparently never sat down and examined her daughter's writing or math performance at home personally, and be blindsided by this result after years of issues, just blows my mind. It reminds me of the dozens of interactions I've had with with people making proclamations about society, and having turned out to have just half-skimmed some nyt article on the topic a few months ago.
