I am not from US so take it with the grain of salt(still underlying school system is basically the same in Europe and America), but most people who fit description of "clumsy autistic nerd" didn't end up with zero physical abilities because of the teachers or school program but out of their own volition. They just didn't like to play the games that everybody played, and they didn't have a spirit of competition that would motivate them to give their all to running the distance or doing pull ups. And your only means of forcing them is through grading but they also often don't care about it(or care enough to raise enough stink to get themselves an exception or just transfer to a different school without such constraints).
That's why you can't have massive deportations without authoritarianism, even if they are supported by the majority. People go to the US for the better life that's just too of a empathetic reason for the public to not be sympathetic to them. Yes, this line of thinking logically leads to de facto open borders and hundreds of millions Africans and latinos going to US but that too second order for common folk.
Either that or public stops being empathetic to anybody but their tribe, but I don't think that's very likely in America.
They did survive years under Russian Empire rulers of which had the same views as Putin. Also in Russian-controlled parts of Ukraine Ukrainian language is a second official one and you can choose to learn it in school.
So a new peace treaty for Ukraine war just dropped .
Trump’s proposed Ukraine peace plan would recognize Crimea as Russian, accept Russian control over parts of Donbas and southern Ukraine, and offer Ukraine vague European security guarantees, unfettered access to Dnieper partial territorial returns, and U.S.-backed reconstruction. It also includes U.S. control of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant and a U.S.-Ukraine minerals deal. Vance said that the deal is final and in the case of rejection US will stop being a part of peacemaking process.
I think it's basically a great deal for both sides(I admit my bias cause for me any peace would be better than war). Ukraine loses nothing that it de facto has right now and gains territory in Kharkov, it can finally heal and maybe with some smart leadership, international investment and membership in EU it can rise to the heights of neighboring Poland, I doubt that it will and I already written on the motte why, but some chance is way better than no chance.
For Russia and specifically for Putin this is a way to claim victory after his many failures including starting this retarded SMO. Maybe for Russian state it would be better to deal with this close of an enemy once and for all, but it will not happen under current leadership and Putin is no nationalist, so even with total victory we would see semi puppet state in Ukraine that would break of as soon as possible. We are talking about person who still haven't annexed Belarus for christ sake.
I think kremlins are ready to accept this and even slightly worse versions of this deal, cause they already shown signs of it throught whole war, starting in March of 2022 and dictators are more likely to seek limited peace anyway. On the other hand Europe is actually putting some effort into its militarization, I'v seen news about new German ammunition facilities, and could collectively decide to continue the war even if US fully withdraws after rejecting the deal(which is in my opinion unlikely). That could prolong the conflict by another couple of years, probably lead to the Ukrainian territory gains but I can't see how it's worth the devastation that it would cause.
I would say that Russian tech is quite successful for their position. It's obviously hampered by lawlessness, economic isolation and brain drain, but it did win the competition with American analogues in their own country, which you can't say of any other European IT sector. And it happened before government bans.
And it wasn't something that specifically Russians did. Collectivization which caused the famine was a communist project mostly supported by local communists. Documents related to Holodomor were in part written in Ukrainian by Ukrainians.
Yeah that was typo, but I meant to write 18th century mostly relating to Dzungars and some other lesser scale nomadic activity. I think while Tamerlane truly was the last one to really "wreck" Eurasia singlehandedly, nomads as a whole still did enormous damage all around for a long time afterwards. Crimean khanate for example was still at large and commencing massive raids for much of 18th century.
Yeah obviously they are flanderized version of the real life cultures, but I don't think that authentic clothing matters that much. They do commonly use bows in the books. And while ACOUP has pedantic in its name it's still too nitpicky, not to mention ideologically captured to be a good source of critique. Like can you imagine there is no description of Dothraki art and music, that means that Martin is racist and/or ignorant, not that it just isn't very interesting thing to focus on.
I would say yes, while still understanding that there are many specific examples where you can justify it. But here many nuances and arguments for no longer apply. Like for example the question of deterrence is already solved, it's already shown that any future war wouldn't be a walk in the park.
Dothraki are feared for the same reason that similar nomads wrecked Eurasia from the taming of horses up to 19th century. Mounted warriors are very powerful both with bow and melee weapons and in nomadic tribal social structure almost every man can take on that role if needed.
Braavos is clearly modeled on Italian merchant republics, specifically Venice and to a lesser extent Genoa. I would recommend Roger Crowley's "City of Fortune: How Venice Won and Lost a Naval Empire" to see many problems that rich navally dominant city with mercenary military can have in maintaining its dominance. In short enemies can build fleet too, you are reliant on your trade partners and it's not always easy to translate your wealth into military power.
"they" that you talking about is an abstract nation-state entity called "Ukraine" and/or its rulers. We peaceniks don't mean them when we say that immediate ceasefire is in everyone's interest. We talk about actual everyday people who suffer, who are locked in this country and are forced to fight. I don't see how nationalists' tears about lines on the map or pride of a certain someone are worth hundreds deaths every day.
If Ukrainians actually want to fight to the end then open the borders, make army volunteer only, maybe pay enough to recruit people willingly(which is still terrible because this willingness both in Ukraine and Russia comes from the utter poverty that its rulers are responsible for). If the problem is with security after the war then you can either get it with joining Nato or at least adjacent web of alliances or you don't and continuing the war won't solve this.
I think your sentiment is mostly sourced from cats being less popular than dogs in the US. Thus with less common interaction small parts of cat owners(like already mentioned "cat ladies") have more influence on your perception of them as group. In Russia where cats are much more popular, nobody thinks that they are somehow feminine. People here written about feminine traits of the cats and masculine ones of the dogs, but you can easily do it vice versa. Like this for example: Dogs are clingy, always asking for your attention, while cats are independent, have their own hustle(if you let them go outdoors) and capable of caring for themselves(washing, going on toilet).
Russia has the world’s highest abortion rate
It's not true and haven't been for a long time. Just look at the current data.
I think it's just because people have much more to lose now. Your normal standard of living is big enough so you don't have to diverge from a safe railroded life path to live well. Why would you commit if by doing so you limiting your own options and open up yourself to failure?
Or maybe omission of it was meant as a message of no longer delaying the "depose" part.

From outside it seems that all major sides of US political discourse are cursed with insanity of a special kind, that comes only for powerful and wealthy. You can't solve anything alone but participating in creating and shaping a subculture is the closest you can come to it. Yes, MAGA people are mostly retards, that should only motivate you to find a viable alternative and use them to your advantage. Neoliberal status quo forces are too entrenched for this, too fixed in their structure and institutions, you can't have a sensible centrist reform there, you need to dive into chaotic primordial soup of a radical variety. Movements quite often are turned on their head and completely transformed from inside, some small group in the right circumstances can capture the minds of hundreds of millions of people. Nobody expected the radical communists, the ISIS of their time, to come to power anywhere, much less the largest European state. Yudkowsky built a subculture alone, from some scraps in a cave and now it holds the hearts of many people who try to bring the singularity into existence. You shouldn't be BASEDtm, but you should still be based in the original meaning, trying to build a solid base for something better which can include not only sensible university educated people, but same unvaccinated retards and even the basement dwellers.
P. S. Looking at this, I think this comment feels disjointed and off topic to the op, but I will leave it as is because something in your text inspired me to write this, so why not let it exist
