And scientists don't really mind (as much as they complain about science journalism among themselves), because nothing gets citation numbers up like journo spam.
I suspect that half the time the journalist a) hasn't read the study, and b) is only rewording a press release from either the university or activist group associated with the study. You can tell by the way all articles on a study will use identical framing and share particular phrases that aren't quotes from the study itself. Frequently they all make the same odd mistake, like a typo, mislabeled figure, or metric conversion.
The big universities have entire offices dedicated to research publicity, and of course it's the entire goal of most non-profit "institutes."
From reading a lot about insulation and heat pumps I've developed a spider sense for "this entire news article was written by a Rocky Mountain Institute publicist"
It's a funny tactic isn't it. "Hey, so these 'vibe' things let you control people? Then we can 'vibe' too, just like we learned how to meme!"

Could need to take it all over, but luggage casters are definitely out. I've got an old two-tyre wheelbarrow base that might work nicely, and would be a lot better for storage than bike wheels.
I've got a hard rubber wheelbarrow, and god it's miserable to use.

/vt/ being down right as Gura retires is a tragedy, but in general the site seems to have been in serious decline for years now. Didn't they get rid of the "unique ips" counter in threads because it showed there were usually only a few people posting?
Previous times there's been a 4chan issue people flooded into refugee/bunker boards, but either I'm out of touch with the altchan scene or there just aren't enough people to notice now.

Does anyone else get really fucking angry at the way the 1040 lumps capital gains in with ordinary income, then makes you do an entire separate and needlessly convoluted process to separate them back out?
Literally just change the steps to put long term cap gains and qualified dividends in their own box on the 1040, it could be so much easier!

Currently building a 2kW, 5kWh, 24V off-grid system for my summer cabin, and for carting around to power tools anywhere (very useful for all the tree clearing & burning I'm doing, which would otherwise take a lot of starting and stopping my small limbing chainsaw. And I don't even have a gas pole saw.)
Amazingly, by resorting to salvaging from garbage dumps and even buying from Temu, it's working out cheaper than running aluminum SER to the building.
It's probably going to come in at 150lb or so. So I should probably figure out how to put some wheels and a handle on it. Maybe off-road bike tires would work best?
Technically this would be the devil rounding on them, not turning tail. Both mean spinning around, but the opposite direction.

I got some 2.5kwh DC House batteries at half off vs amazon, which are actually a reputable brand. There's a small amount of "quality" stuff floating in the chineseium garbage patch, but a lot of it ranges from "mislabed" to "dangerous" to "literally just a printed picture of the item"

The Chinese are still importing turbines for now. But iPhones are down to third place behind vivo and huawei. It's harder to find concrete figures on movies, but every article agrees that the sale of Hollywood movies in China is in steep decline (absolutely, not just proportionally to domestic sales)
So at this rate in another decade we may have very little left to sell China that those retirees actually want. Other than land, of course.

How are Russian houses insulated? I hear a lot about brick and concrete, especially on the old housing blocks, which hardly insulates at all. Huge district heating probably helps in a lot of places though.
The strange thing is that Blackbird had some generally competent releases before hw3, like Shipbreakers. Although maybe that was one guy's core gameplay demo with a crapload of garbage writing added later in production, with the story being the final turd dropped on release.
It really does seem like most issues with modern games come from the writing committee taking over, suffocating the "a decent gameplay concept one guy hammered out over a weekend" that's at the core of most good games.

I'm in the middle of writing a post about it, but would be interested to hear other people's impressions, especially anyone who's familiar with China and Chinese business practices.
I think it's time to pay attention to it because every Chinese importer has started to copy their sales tactics: fake lotteries in popups to hand out coupons, fake rewards deals where "you are surely Premium customer, only 1% away from earning free item saar!", high pressure "deals" like "you only have 45 seconds to buy 10 items from this list to earn free $999!!! (in coupons that require you to buy even more shit)", etc.

I'm seriously thinking about sticking some heating in my shop, maybe even a mini split. It's a lot easier to work on stuff (and bring yourself to work on stuff) when your hands aren't blue.
We have talked about the CBP One app and the CHNV program dozens of times. Pretending it's a completely new topic that requires extraordinary evidence all over again is an exhaustion tactic.
The CHNV program added another half million on top of that btw. It was all billed as "Biden reduces southern border crossings!" by flying them in directly. They were still listed as "inadmissible" on the graphs even though they were actually being admitted, giving the impression Biden was doing something about illegal immigration as long as you didn't look too closely. And of course the media didn't look at all and just regurgitated the admin's press releases.
