Imagine if 20-30% of Americans were french people explicitly voting with the goal of making things worse for the English?
This isn't a charicature. a top 5 issue for Quebecers is "Climate Change" which is code for shutting down Alberta's oil, and carbon taxing Car Centric Ontario and Western communities for the crime of having to go to work... They will openly say this. Quebec politicians will say as much in French.
Living in this country has made me incredible sympathetic to everygroup that ever concluded ethnic cleansing or ethno-nationalism was the only option, when you live in a truely multi-ethnic/multi-lingual country (where there are actually mutiple groups not just a mass of "Diverse" urbanite) Everything the other ethnic group wants, votes for, advocates very quickly becomes "And the other ethnicity is going to pay for it, and we're going to hurt them extra so they can't resist as much next time"
A Canada comprised of only the 9 english provinces would be no more screwed up than US blue states without large black populations: a collection of Vermonts, Oregons, and Maines and Minosotas.
It's when you add in the weight of 20% of the population being French and there being a deep core of openly hostile Euro-left wing belief that pretty much despises everything the functionally American English Canadians value or aspire to that you get a Canada as fucked up as this is.

there have been persistent campaigns to remove Irvings works from libraries and the pressure on used books stores especially is intense (I've spoken with multiple used booksellers who say this)
This was my experience TIME AFTER TIME researching this list. Notably every regime-friendly author had an uncontroversial "Works" section. but as soon as you get into people prominent for holocaust denial, or alleged war crimes... suddenly Wikipedia's very reticent to direct you to further reading... Which is unsurprising given I remember all the campaigns and hand-wringing by "experts on radicalization" that Youtube, Google, and Wikipedia were leading people down rabbit holes of hate... as opposed to what they did after trump won which was scrub all right wing material such that history teachers were complaining, (You struggle to find a single complete speech from Hitler on youtube anymore, let alone revisionist documentaries)
This happened on Amazon at the peak of the trump and post j6 years with Scores of books being pulled from Amazon and removed from kindle, i found a list of such works and included many in my list.
I also I note you don't mention the works later on... which Carry criminal sentences. (Read the piece and skip down to "How-To Guides of Horror"

I wouldn't have included it, but researching the period I encountered multiple quotes from American censors GLOATING that the Germans wouldn't be reading Clausewitz anymore.

They also banned tons of Little Red Riding Hood stuff... Allegedly the Nazis often depicted the wolf as a jew, so the allies destroyed countless rare and beautiful Pre-war Collectors illustrated editions...
It is very likely some printings and original art for Clausewitz and little Red Riding hood and thousands of others are now lost forever.

When a king agrees to abdication, they may still execute him, but aside from the two famous revolutions they generally don't execute his kids or family.
This is why all the bloodiest coups are led by young men, and they're generally betrayed by old men... The young men's children are still hypothetical and incumbent on them surviving and winning high status... Old men are much happier to throw themselves at the mercy of a government and accept the gallows if need by rather than risk a civil war that will embroil their children.

Videos of some of the men having knives (all too common in the UK now) also circulated.
In North America there's a mocking parody of the UK that live in jokes and memes, that after banning guns they started banning knives leading to lots of joking "OI you got a loisence for dat ther potata peeler" or picking up a stone for skipping only for the bobbies to materialize and taze you because the angle of the stone was too sharp.
But every so often you see clips from UK media or here a story or see an interview of a worried middle aged woman, and start to wonder if it is a joke...
I'm a Canadian firearms enthusiast and something of an outdoorsman, and I'm tickled and a little horrified at the idea that a knife, a basic tool with archeological evidence dating back literally millions of years to pre-hominid times (Who first forged the deadly blade? They called him Oook), could be "all too common"
the knife is next to opposable thumbs in the things that make one human... i'm genuinely curious about this attitude... did he mean "men who'd openly draw blades are all too common now", to be fair such men have quite a storied history in the UK: they were called gentry. Or did he actually mean the physical knives themselves are too common?
In Canada folding knives, including the scary looking scythe style fighting knives, are sold at convenience stores and all kinds of mall ninja weapons (real sharpened steel) are for sale at most toy and game stores.... often in goofy coloured finishes so that tweens and early teens can blow their allowances on them and feel cool for a few minutes. Parents give kids knives for Christmas. I remember summer camp we were all just given folding knives (cheap ones we were expected to keep) because it was a camping camp and we were expected to make shelter and survive in the woods. Its normal in most small towns and even most cities for guys who are blue collar ect. to wear big knives visibly on their belts, and maybe 20-40% of men and women have a pocket knife or something comparable on them at basically all times.
In Britain is there a real serious attitude that people should just not have knives...or could be denied them? Like not memes, and shitposts, but for real?

why would I? The headache and logistics of making a low dollar bet with someone from another country is way more effort than the expected return value I'm likely to get. Not to mention counterparty risk when they try to welch.

We see a similar dynamic in Canada.
If you look at the polling numbers Pierre Poilievre's conservatives are on track for the largest majority in Canadian history and Trudeau's Liberals might drop to 3rd or even 4th place. It might be a Conservative Ultra-super-majority with a Bloc Quebecois official opposition.
And the Liberals and left seem to be doing nothing about it aside from jiggering the election date 5 days later so their government pensions vest before they leave office.
I torn between suspecting they think they have an apocalyptic event between now and 2025 that will make the polls irrelevant, or that they're just resigned to cashing out and letting the entire Laurentian Elite die under a hostile Alberta led government...

Yes, which means I gave "NOT a civil war" MORE than 50%, which given there were mutliple assassniation attempts on the lead candidate one of which came an inch from killing him, that sounds right or even conservative .
In reply to the "then" please read the introduction to my immediate previous piece on the topic and civil war preparedness.
The predictions for which I give probabilities are the predictions.... The long elaborate descriptions of scenarios to be prepared for NECESSARILY CANNOT BE, because everytime you describe something additional happening the overall likelihood of all of it happening lowers.
I described about 20 different possible dynamics and scenarios in that piece as preparedness exercise. NECESSARILY the value and detail of a scenario for planning and preparedness is ANTI-CORRELATED with its overall total likelihood since each additional piece of information or dynamic, which is valuable for preparedness, is another thing that may or may not happen.
In short I give probability predictions in keeping with the norms of Less-Wrong rationalism because that is valuable for declaring your priors, then I give the elaborate scenario planning, because that is how militaries and serious organizations wargame.
Specifically the mass rioting if Trump won, I expect that would have 100% happened if he had won the electoral college but lost the popular vote (which strikes me as a vastly more likely scenario than what happened given his track record) then there would have been a cause to argue Trump's win was a result of systemic white supremacy and the American system favouring white rural voters over urban voters... which could have been ginned up by media like the summer of Floyd... Trump's total electoral victory was very unlikely given available information (most odds had him 40-45% to lose and presumably another 20-30 to only win closely)
His incredibly decisive victory (contrary to his previous 2 elections) was an surprising factor... though there's still a fair amount that can go wrong between here and inauguration, or in his first year... not least 2 very unstable wars right now.

Obviously if HBD were not true, the Jews of Europe would be basket cases after the holocaust suffering under incalculable intergenerational trauma.
Israel would not have been found-able, and we'd see natural forming Ghettos where jews drink themselves to death, abuse heroin at insane rates, have rates of teen pregnancy, sexual assault, and incest vastly worse than even the most remote indigenous communities in north america, test scores that are barely measurable, single digit high-school graduation rates... and a double digit percentage of them wracking up felony convictions often before they can legally drink.

The film and entertainment industry would be desperate to shoehorn jewish actors and characters into traditionally white and black roles... and every year at the oscars holywood would make a big show of how many more jews they nominated for high awards... though the more critical commentators would point out they were still underrepresented in the behind the scenes money making positions, and regularly missed top billing.

To deny these things proven in open court by an alliance of the best jurists of the US, Brittain, and USSR would be to deny the very legitimacy of any findings of the the Nuremburg court or any judicial system touched by them. It'd be akin to saying that the Allies US, UK, and USSR were an alliance WITH the most brutal totalitarian and deceitful regime in world history, not an Alliance to defeat that regime.

And he wrote a book about Jewish involvement in Communism and their ties to the Soviet union... And a half Dozen US Generals wrote glowing reviews saying it was the most important book of the 1950s and exactly captures the truth of the Second world war.
Likewise Eisenhower, Churchill, and De Gaulle make no mention of the holocaust or final solution in their thousands of pages of works on ww2.
You'd think if out of 80 million dead in ww2, 6 million were jews, you'd get like 5-8% of time dedicated to it... just proportionately?
Nope. Nothing. In the 1950s they didn't act as if the camps were opened and the revelation of the greatest crime in history had just been revealed. The Holocaust only entered public consciousness in 1967 after the 6 day when the US pivoted to Israel.

Notably none of those examples needed laws to jail people for questioning them nor were placed at the center of the American civic religion.
Ask what is most sacred in a society, and thats the most likely place you'll find the big lie.
You don't need to worship Newton's laws of motions BECAUSE they are amongst the largest revelation of pure truth in history. They hold regardless of your belief.
Likewise we do not need to worship Alexander or Napoleon for them to be major main characters in our history, revered despite being basically glossed over in our schools.
When it comes to Christ however, suddenly your faith really matters, because unless you believe he rose from the dead he stops being the greatest man in history and instead becomes a Schizophrenic unfairly denied a lawyer who'd put forth an insanity plea.
Thus it's really telling that this historical event and this historical event alone, unique amongst even genocides, it is DEMANDED that schools teach it happened AS MORAL MATTER, that unbelief is the ultimate sin.
We don't treat Holomordor this way, nor the killing fields, nor the plight of the Armenians, Hell in America and Europe you can argue that the Native Americans actually didn't have it that bad, or that slavery was the equivalent of the Russian serfs or just having a job, without being imprisoned in Austria or Germany.

Also notable that they the flyover crackheads had to be chemically altered by hostile pharmaceutical companies and cartels aligned with China to get to their still mostly first world point (those on the streets are an extreme minority), whereas as far as I can tell india doesn't even have a huge drug problem, it's not mentioned on the video at all. And I've never heard stories of big narcotics trades in india.

I think you're making the mistake of seeing the people you immediate know and interact with have dumb tribalist reasons for believing what they believe... and then look at see the majority of that movement is composed of such people with largely the same motivations... And then generalize that to the movement, instead of to ALL movements.
I can guarantee you there's some Clever young Israeli/America Jew writing the exact same thing about how his family members have dumb easily disproven, obviously inconsistent beliefs about Israel's ancient right to Pallestine, their explicit and open racism against arabs (the kind of which they're scream for a Second Sherman's march if a southerner said it about blacks)... And then can look and find Israeli politicians and even think tanks making THE EXACT SAME BULLSHIT arguments... but actually affecting policy with it.
Tribalism, stupidity, and arguments as soldiers is the rule, not the exception.
This is why you find rationalists are almost always the polar opposite of their early intellectual enviroment, because that's the ideology they've seen all the way through.
Israel is inherently destabilizing because it never has to negotiate... in spite of being completely outnumbered and outgunned regionally. Israel can fail to negotiate, get into lighting regional wars... and then they should be fucked from the fact it just started a fight with a vastly larger number of people who could just start ww1 or Iran-War style attritional warfare and bleed them out over a year... In two words? Psychological warfare.
Women are the meme sex. They're shockingly vulnerable to memetic infection. Peer-pressure, social contagion mental illnesses, god awful fashion trends... Cutting didn't meaningfully exist before the 90s and now a double digit percentage of girls have done it at some point.
Remember that sex ed class exercise from film/tv where students would be paired up and have to look after like a bag of flower for a week as if it was a baby? Ever notice how after the 2000s that just stopped? (I never did it in highschool) Studies were showing this teen pregnancy deterent was INCREASING teen pregnancy and subsequent births... Girls were memeable enough that merely acting out motherhood with a bag of flower made them uncontrollably want kids.
You could boost fertility rates just by subtly changing the sex ed and school curriculum to encourage fertility instead of discourage it, stretch out sex ed/pe to all 4 years of school (will make kids more attractive too) pay young, stay at home, new mothers (selected for perceived attractiveness and status, must be superior to the professional woman teachers) to come in with babies and talk to the girls about their experiences and just ensure every 14-18 year old girl is interacting with a baby at least once a month...
aside from that there's lot of finacial and career jiguring you could do around the side, end all state funded girls scholarship/replace with boys ones, subtly change antidescrimination law so employers can once again subtly refuse to hire/promote women on the assumption they'll get married/pregnant and training will be wasted... which will become a self-fullfilling prophesy as women fall ehind their male peers... use the security states defacto control of the media to make sure that instead of every Teen Comedy and TV show having a requisite 1/6 characters be gay, instead 1/5 characters must be pregnant at all times... Hell if you just replaced every coming out storyline with a pregnancy story line, we'd be back at replacement fertility.
Subtly change highschool and university mandates to have 3x the dances, coed sleepaway trips, and as many social events as possible... With free tution, volunteer opportunities, preferential hiring, high status make work etc, to pregnant/recent mothers to get as many big bellies and babies in highschools and on campus as possible so that girls are constantly seeing slightly older, wealthier, higher status girls swelling, nursing, tending, and cooing at all hours of the day, every day.
They should see it in school, on TV, around campus, in the classroom, with a goal that by the time a girl is 20 she'll have interacted with 100 pregnant women of higher status than herself and 100 babies.
Before the 80s most women got married and had kids ages 18p22... this should be the goal. To effect a real change we should be aiming to meme women into getting pregnant in that age bracket.
Given how many girls still feel compelled to get pregnant and have kids in their teens, despite society waging an endless propaganda campaign not to and instead to become some aging girl-boss middle manager ... merely inversing the propaganda and who they're exposed to on "career" day should reverse the trend very quickly and then become self-fullfilling as more and more of their friends and classmates become memetic vectors themselves.
I think cutting off a child's sexual organs meets a very clear and universal definition of "sexual abuse". And saying the 12 year old consented to the sexual harm would be considered pedophilic and evil in any other circumstance.
I cannot express how NOT euphamistic and how NOT a motte and bailey the accusation of grooming is. Right wingers do not believe "gender affirming care" is anything but butchery, that any transition social or biological is irreparably destroying a child's mental health and at the point of medical transition, their bodies as well.
These are not metaphors, these are not euphemisms, this is literally what the right believes is happening and they have THOUSANDS of weeping detransitioned boys and girls who no longer have sexual organs because some doctor hacked them off that they can point to.
Do they think the muchhausen by proxy mothers pushing their kids to be trans are motivated by peadophilia... probably not, but the actual damage is so SO much worse. If I had a daughter I'd wish she'd be simply molested by a teacher instead of groomed into the trans ideology. I wish a son of mine might merely be sodomized by a creep, instead of chemically castrated by a doctor.
I'm honestly shocked, and believe its almost certainly an indictment of the American right, that there haven't been terrorist attacks on gender clinics and assassination attempts against transition doctors.
According to ny basic assessment of what's going on from a non-progressive lens They are sexually butchering children. And teachers and progressive activists are actively grooming them to be sexually butchered.
This is what we're talking about. this is what the American right believes. And the boomercons are so poisoned by "tolerance" they're actually letting it happen.

Do people care more about culture warring than survival?
Absolutely and they're absolutely right to do it.
There is one threat historically that will kill you, your friends, your family, and all of your children... and that's your political enemies.
The lesson of the 20th century is well over 250 million people were murdered by their own governments because they didn't hate their political opponents hard enough. They were willing to give their political opponents the benefit of the doubt, they were willing to try and live in a country in which their political opponents held power supreme power rather than resort to violence.
That was a mistake. it was a mistake of the landed farmers in Ukraine and Russia to try to live with the soviets in charge of them instead fighting to the death against their class enemies forming a government, it was a mistake of the Jews to not actually participate in terrorist conspiracies against the German government, and it was a mistake of the educated Chinese to try and live with their poltitical opponents trying to implement a cultural revolution.
No ethnicity has ever died out from having too much hatred and obstinacy in their heart. The occupants of the Stans and the Caucuses have surived thousands of years through mutual paranoia and hatred... Cooperation? Compromise? Working with your fellow man? Trusting that everyone ultimately wants what's best everyone? Not being tempted by extremism or alarmism?

Athiesm isn't derided because no opposing viewpoint is offered.
New Athiesm only happened because almost no believed in their religion anymore... How many were ready to go to war in the middle east to defend the besmirched honour of American empire after 9/11? Now how many were advocating crusade against the Saracen to spread the literal word of god before 9/11?
We know what true conviction based religious belief looks like... it looks like the Crusades, or the Mormons fleeing into the desert, or Jihadists taking the fight to the infidels.
And that doesn't exist in America... even the Mormons abandon core theological convictions the second the US state wants them gone (their prophet was murdered in the same house as his wailing wives... and they axed polygamy to appease the government that persecuted them).
New aethiest issued a challenge that religious conviction was the font of all the worlds problems, and instead of retorting that lack of faith was the font of all evil and we needed a moral, political, and possiblity military crusade to drive that unbelief out...

One should be humble before God, but realistic in respect to others.
If Cummings is merely "Like a poster here" he's easily in the top 1% of government officials who have ever held senior office, and by far the most competent person in that cabinet. The stupidity, vacuity and hubris of the senior bereaucracy is almost impossible to internalize...
Its genuinely unbeleivable a man like Cummings penetrated it at all... The elite circles run off socialite style norms related to connections and status games that actively select against the kinds of people who make cohherent mental models and try to make them accord with the world. It the same as career politicans only with more pretense and less charisma, you see this in most academic sub-feilds related to politics as well...
The relationship of the words to actually reality is a 20th or 30th concern... the first concern is its relationship to Taboos and social signaling, and what's worse is all these fields select for people who do it subconsciously and can't tell the difference. People who aren't even capable of being true believers because they don't inherently process their words as being about the world as opposed to their social games.

This is a real classic military scenario, Napoleon had a battle that went like this, and something like this is taught in almost every course on strategy.
One of the lesser admirals upon receiving these orders is outraged. "To reach for academic theory at a time like this!? In the midst of BATTLE!?"
so he defies the order tries to disengage his contigent, and he and that contingent die, while the battle turns from a sure defeat to that draw scenario.
The thing is, this lesser admiral who defied the order and died for it... he was the teacher of theory at their military academy! He had taught this theory every year for 20 years. Yet when given a command that directly aligned with the theory he had studied and taught for decades, he not only balked he was outraged!
To him all the theory he taught were polite words and and a social game, they bore no relation to the battlefield, they were related to academic life... he had dedicated his life to repeating the words and social concepts of being a professor of strategic theory, and he wasn't just willing to repeat those theories if they were wrong in fact, so long as they advanced his career... in his mind they only bore relation to his career, the idea they could be right or wrong about real battlefields in the future, as they were happening, was suplurflous or laughable. The theories were social games you played to describe maybe historical battles... And whether his own theories were right or wrong if deployed in the field was a laughable concern relative to how interesting or socially viable they might be...
He regurgitated "Defeat in detail" on tests, then in classrooms as the teacher... he maybe even believed he believed it... but to actually believe it would have meant resisting the thought, putting it under pressure, testing its mettle and how well he could rely on it... looking for contradictory examples, and only being satisfied once he'd concluded it'd held under his harshest scrutiny... And that's not what a "Model Student" who aspires to become a star teacher does. What if you discovered it was wrong? Or rather, in his psychology, that he's wrong and contrary to the social expectation. Is he going to risk placing himself in opposition to the institutional machinery he needs to appease and serve?
So when he received an order based on a theory that happened to be one of the best documented and well theorized realities of warfare ever given a name... one every moderately good strategy gamer should recognize intuitively... he balked and was outraged that some punk was either trying to play a status game to fuck with him, or that he's being lead by some dangerously delusional true believer who thinks these words were meant to constrain expectations about physical reality.

I've interacted with alot of academics, politicians, bureaucrats, mainline corporate types... everyone that's actively checked-in to the system instead of checked out and disgusted... the kind that will repeat the slogans sincerely... they're almost all like this fictional professor. Our society applies incredible consequences for social faux-pas and almost none for actually being wrong or ineffective. We lack both the scarcity and the high intensity warfare that creates those consequences for being wrong, and are drowning in the centralizing over-socialized morass that makes social norms sting.
Thus the people who get ahead in all but very niche fields are those who spend their lives thinking in relation to the social norms, and feel no compunction about any contradiction with physical reality for any myriad of psychological reasons ("What no I'm not making a probabilistic prediction!? what do I look like a booky! How Low class")... And those who are actually capable of making their ideas commit them to predictions and confine expectations are consistently selected against, or actively punished (Psychologically or socially).
Imagine the reaction if you asked a politician or bureaucrat who'd just made some optimistic statement about education for black kids to actually wager real money about what the test scores would be in 5 years on a consistent test... Naively one would think it'd matter if the politician didn't want to... if we expect the program to fail shouldn't we be doing something different NOW.... but of course they'd be outraged not at the politician who refused the wager with some "I don't wager on matters of morality" bromide... but at you for trying to impose expectations, and worse being willing to bet against black kids (you racist).
The idea these polite statements about opportunities for the future and everyone getting a chance should correspond to realized on the ground reality is laughable in politics, or an actively rude attack... And that casual dishonestly, even in one's own thoughts, that dismissal of the very possibility of a truth value in those words... that casual evil of banality... that's slowly infected everything our government or elite class has touched, and our elite no longer produces people meaningfully able to reach back and relate their linguistic games to reality any more...
they are all that professor of military theory and will intuitively turn and run when their own theories tell them they have the advantage... because that moment will be the first time they have to relate their words games to reality, and they'll immediately know (even if they don't already) that they haven't been doing that, and every cached thought, even one as basic as "Defeat in Detail"... They can't trust.

TFR is directly driven by rural VS Urban and cost of living.
Those who live in rural areas have more kids.
Forcing Urbanization by importing immigrants who settle in cities rapidly increases both urbanization AND the cost of living, cascading TFR downwards.
You're making the problem worse and forcing the children produced by the native rural population to support a bunch of aliens when their old age comes in 20 years (you don't get to be the kind of skilled immigrant slected for in your 20s or even early 30s)
Ethnic Expulsions would be the best thing for birth rates.
Lowered cost of living and rapidly increased perception of risk correlates heavily with higher TFR. There's a reason over 50% of Gaza is under 18

This is one of those things where everyone says "You should look into this" But no one says they have a recommendation.
Part of the reason South Africa is so prominent on the full list (the image file) is lots of white Africans are very keen to recommend stuff
