The Ohio train spill was kindof right on the edge between nothing burger, and massive disaster, and a key demonstration of the media and influencers rank incompetence to do even basic research.
Vinyl Chloride is nasty and carcinogenic as hell at any reasonably large concentration and its airborne. So whats the area where it'll be concentrated enough that you're fucked if you're exposed to it?
You actually have to do the math or atleast eyeball it to figure that out.
So 10 DOT 11 Tank Cars is 1,139,790 Liters of Vinyl Chloride or 1038 metric tons.
Doing the math thats 1 ppm if evenly distributed over a cubic kilometer of atmosphere.
Ok what the hell does that mean? Well then you have to look up the OSHA safety data sheet for vinyl chloride and see that do to its carcenogenic effect the maximum safe exposure OSHA allows 1ppm over an 8 hour shift and 5ppm for only 15minutes maximum during emergency exposure.
So now suddenly you have the scale of the disaster. In the immediate locality of the crash 1-5 km they should be evacuating people since you could absolutely get larger concentrations than that, and living somewhere 24/7 is a more intense exposure than an 8hr shift.
But people 100kms away shouldn't be worried, and as it dilutes it really shouldn't be a concern unless you get areas of extreme concentration or it builds up in like the the regional water, or local fish people subsequently eat.
Then there's what they're doing to mitigate it. Burning mostly breaks it down into CO2 and Hydrogen Chloride, two "pollutants" that aren't carcinogenic and are both byproducts of the human body (Your stomach acid is hydrochloric acid (what hydrogen Chloride becomes on contact with water))... Sure you'll also get incomplete burn and some nasty byproducts, but on the whole this is vastly reducing the danger and long term toxicity, and even the low level acid rain the hydrogen chloride will become will be one mild day compared to what heavy industry produced for decades in the 20th century. Might hurt be rough on your garden for a week unless you're at the epicenter.
From all that you can conclude a lot and raise a lot of questions, people 100s of kilometers away are almost certainly fine, but was the evacuation as wide spread as it should have been? How accountable should we hold authorities if those near the crash develop nasty symptoms from not being evacuated?
Presumably someone at somepoint did these calculations... but they've utterly failed to communcate any of this and everyone is rightly primed to assume the company and the government is going to lie to their face and act with reckless indifference for their well being because.... well have you payed attention to anything ever?
So an authority or media figure has to actually show their work, and break down the above, Ie. Highschool math just basic unit conversion, a safety datasheet we'd expect any industrial worker to be comfortable with, enough highschool science to describe a combustion reaction... And not one of them is capable of or at all cares to do it.
Meanwhile hydrogen Chloride is the chemical that makes Volcanic clouds dark and ponderous, and hundreds of tons of it are visibly darkening the sky... So it looks like fucking Armageddon.... And not a single media figure of county official, or authority figure would ever be competent enough to say "Hey here's a photo of an volcanic eruption in Fiji, the village in this photo was fine... if you're asthmatic you should probably stay inside, but the chemical composition is largely comparable, its not a major concern as long as the immediate plume doesn't blow in your face".

Like this all would be so basic for a competent to explain to give the scale of the disaster... but we live in a society where not a single competent human being works in government or media, and so I had to do the math and look it all up when my mother and half the internet was freaking out 600km away from the crash thinking this would take years off our lives, and all the media could do was scoff and call you a conspiracy theorist for not trusting the company and locality that would be liable.

Shanti De Corte A 23 year old French Woman has died via assisted suicide. She was 17 when she survived a suicide attack in Rome… despite suffering no physical injury she developed PTSD and 6 years later was given the fatal injections after a panel of doctors signed off on it.
This is not an isolated incident. I hear stories almost every month of young to middle aged people with decades left to live, often with some physical ailment not even catastrophically disabling (loss of sight in one eye, chronic pain, disability of a limb… things vastly less than paraplegia)… and many that are effectively assisted suicides on mental health grounds alone… I can no longer find the story, but was explicitly assisted suicide for chronic depression.
Now there have been many pieces about the slippery slope of assisted suicide and moral arguments… and of course there are going to some progressives or ardent libertarians who insist this is all a perfectly fine choice for a consenting adult to make… but I don’t really care about all of that…
The overwhelming sentiment I have to all of this is crude but simple:
DO IT YOURSELF, PUSSY
The idea someone with less than full locked-in syndrome should get medically assisted suicide is not only insane… its aesthetically revolting.
If you can't summon the will to do it yourself even with full use of your physical faculties (of which suicide only requires one functional finger), then clearly you aren't emotionally competent to assign the task to someone else, and are quite frankly beneath such a grandiose gesture.
I've read multiple books by men who committed sepuku. One was a westerner who was paralyzed from the chest down (and didn't feel a thing)... another was a Japanese writer who, for a myriad of psychological and philosophical reasons, choose to do so in all its pain despite being in fine (actually peak) physical shape, Both of these I found eminently respectable. Whether one agreed with either man, the courage and will involved in either act revealed a beauty of spirit and rendered their logic something that had to be engaged with....
For adults (allegedly physically and mentally competent according to the state that accepts their signature) to choose not just death, but death in the hands of some bureaucrat/matriarch appointed by the state and medical establishment... to seek the return to the womb, and infantilizing comfort of some schoolmarm telling them "everything will be ok", of the disgusting toxic surrender to the surrogate mothering of a "Death Doula"…
This deserves not our pity or concern but our contempt and hatred.

Say what you will about school shooters or suicide bombers... of the columbine shooters or 9/11 hijackers...Their rejection of this life and the world had the grandiosity and horror such a choice deserved. In their pain, rage, hate, and nihilism they at least had the dignity to let out a primal scream in their rejection of life.
At the hour and venue of their choosing they made their statements, and expressed everything they felt was a summation of their lives without even a thought to compromise... what statement are these assisted suicides making!?
To decide, out of all places on earth, you want to die in a hospital surrounded by the beeps and stench of piss covered by industrial cleaner? To choose for the hour of your demise the half hour slot the office clerk could find on the schedule? To choose as your last confessor the obese nurse some state bureaucrat selected out of the set who were working that day?
This is contemptable. The final farce of the cradle to grave welfare and biomedical security state.
I imagine these depressive but physically fine adults hoping that maybe this extreme expression, this final most extreme plea for help will extract from the uncaring state the love and affection their teachers promised but never delivered. That they might finally receive the love all the utilitarian and progressive rhetoric promised them... that the institutions they've come to see as father, mother, and lover will react to their pleas with all the affection and benevolence they've been taught to expect from neither parent, priest, or partner...
maybe as the bored RN tells them "Its alright, just a little sleep" they'll delude themselves into thinking that's what they've received... the matriarchy's most intimate soothing coo...

These people and institutions deserve our hate not for taking life but for the ritualistic mockery they make doing it... The Aztec heart cutters at least had a style and didn't lie about their knives... and the sun god was vastly more appeased than whatever "Comfort and dignity" is supposed to be assuaged by the syringes, hypocrisies, and economical hospital decoration.
The final sublimation of that most extreme, personal, and human of choices into the banal indifference of the bureaucratic state.

If someone is to reject life and all bonds of the living, then let them lead the police on a high speed chase before crashing into a wall… let them go to Vegas and drink themselves to death… let them wander off into the pale white of an ice-flow or chart their boat into the eye of the hurricane... let them blast their brains out on the floor of the state senate, or commit seppuku in the magic kingdom under the unblinking gaze of mickey's plastic mask... let them crash planes and bulldozers into buildings, or their bodies into the surf or concrete after defiant jumps...
And if one lacks the will and resolve to express their death with all the violence and horror a choice to take one’s life deserves… then clearly they also lack the seriousness to surrender their life to another.
Let them prove they truly lived at least a minute before they died. Let out a primal scream before disappearing beyond the vanishing point.

Below /u/incognitomaorach has a great thread about violence that eruptted in the UK between Muslim and Hindu cricket fans, ut in the middle he mentioned this:
Videos of some of the men having knives (all too common in the UK now) also circulated.
In North America there's a mocking parody of the UK that live in jokes and memes, that after banning guns they started banning knives leading to lots of joking "OI you got a loisence for dat ther potata peeler" or picking up a stone for skipping only for the bobbies to materialize and taze you because the angle of the stone was too sharp.
But every so often you see clips from UK media or here a story or see an interview of a worried middle aged woman, and start to wonder if it is a joke...
I'm a Canadian firearms enthusiast and something of an outdoorsman, and I'm tickled and a little horrified at the idea that a knife, a basic tool with archeological evidence dating back literally millions of years to pre-hominid times (Who first forged the deadly blade? They called him Oook), could be "all too common"
the knife is next to opposable thumbs in the things that make one human... i'm genuinely curious about this attitude... did he mean "men who'd openly draw blades are all too common now", to be fair such men have quite a storied history in the UK: they were called gentry. Or did he actually mean the physical knives themselves are too common?
In Canada folding knives, including the scary looking scythe style fighting knives, are sold at convenience stores and all kinds of mall ninja weapons (real sharpened steel) are for sale at most toy and game stores.... often in goofy coloured finishes so that tweens and early teens can blow their allowances on them and feel cool for a few minutes. Parents give kids knives for Christmas. I remember summer camp we were all just given folding knives (cheap ones we were expected to keep) because it was a camping camp and we were expected to make shelter and survive in the woods. Its normal in most small towns and even most cities for guys who are blue collar ect. to wear big knives visibly on their belts, and maybe 20-40% of men and women have a pocket knife or something comparable on them at basically all times.
In Britain is there a real serious attitude that people should just not have knives...or could be denied them? Like not memes, and shitposts, but for real?

Where are the Conservative Critiques of Family Court?
Conservatives, especially religious conservatives go on and on about the collapse of the family, declining sexual morality, and the increasing millennial failure to form families or have kids...
And yet I cannot think of a single major right wing thinker who's talked about one of the top 3 things causing all of this and which, unlike the pill, is a pure matter of public policy and government officials preying on the populace: Family court.

Just as abortion was sacralized in post-60s as fundamental inalienable right, that women should not be forced to carry to term or have a child and deal with the financial and social burden it represented... and just as religious conservatives the country over started begging and pleading with women to not abort, but instead to have the child, and then give it up for adoption, that "obviously" they should not be burdened personally and financially with raising a child for 18 years over 1 night's sexual concourse... just please don't kill.
A new set of institutions were put in place to recreate every social, financial, personal, and hypothetical legal burden that even the most fever dreamed feminist never imagined a patriarchy might impose over one night's coupling. But for men.
Just as it became sacrosanct that every woman should be able to have sex and escape any possible financial or personal burden, even if she doesn't use protection, nor takes the morning after pill, nor avails her self of first trimester abortion, nor second, nor third, nor gives it up for adoption in the first, second, third or forth year, but in the fifth year, or even the fifthteenth! surrender the child to the state or for adoption with no ongoing legal, social, or financial penalty...
It became equally understood that the very second of coitus (or even without it if the sperm is stollen). That absolutely an child conceived will result in the man's complete legal and financial ruin. That the legal system gains full power over every asset, skill, or income source, he has ever or might ever have, and that if he tries to evade legal """Responsibility""" (as if this something that would ever consider being applied to a citizen of one of the other 82 genders) his wages will be garnished, his assets forcibly confiscated, he may be imprisoned, and in many jurisdictions his passport might even be confiscated.

And yet Conservatives who claim to be critics of the state and claim to be critics of state intervention in family life... seemingly have nothing to say about marriage and the family being converted from an inviolable religious and moral compact, to a state contract whereby the entire thing can be disolved, and indeed is financially incentivized to be dissolved... except for the part where every asset and dime you might ever make is now at the sole discretion of the state for how it would like to redirect them.
They have nothing to say about a religious partnership essential being converted into a slavery contract. Nor that instead of doing the reasonable "Egalitarian" thing like setting a standard child support amount that all non-custody parents should be expected to pay as a universal obligation (all children being equal) family court judges are instead allowed incredible discretion to assign amounts based on the income or percieved competence of the non-custody spouse... because obviously bieng productive is the worst possible crime in our society.

This is the great trend of conservative criticism. Point at the decay, (failing families, schools, communities, ethics) but cower from even raising the possibility that the laws and policies which caused the decay might be reversed.
Every conservative laments the decline of the family... none will suggest ending no-fault divorce or reversing the presumption of custody, such that a parent who cannot afford to raise a child on their own is presumed to be the parent less qualified to receive custody, thus removing the incentive for an unproductive deadbeat wife to divorce as a means to take her husband's assets.
Every conservative laments that social institutions used to work better, and that social values are decaying... none will broach returning to the policies and matterial realities that produced those quality institutions.

My solution is the same one that has worked throughout all of history in every institution that's been functional:
The person with the power is the person with the responsibility.
If women are to be empowered to abort whenever they like, surrender to adoption or the state whenever they like, and generally have full control... THEN THEY SOULD BARE FULL, TOTAL, AND FINAL FINANCIAL RESPONCIBILITY.
Family court should not exist.
The names on the bank accounts keep the accounts. Same with the houses and assets. And any joint assets accounts are divided in even... you don't even need a court all these things would happen naturally and the banks, etc. would oversee the pre-arranged division.
80% of divorces are started by women... this would end that very quickly and defacto limit divorce once again to real documentable instances of abuse. Since there would no longer be a financial incentive.

Out of wedlock births should never result in a court case unless there is a criminal charge of sexual assault.
It should simply be the woman's full and final responsibility.
These are the conditions that produced the sexual norms conservatives were so fond of In the 19th century and before, if a man got a woman pregnant out of wedlock, that was a her problem. Full stop.
Even if a community thought they could try to force the responsibility on him, he could just disappear a few towns over.
This is what created the intense emphasis on chastity, and the sense of ruin that accompanied fallen women.
THESE ARE OUR TRADITIONAL SEXUAL VALUES AND INSTITUTIONS.
And not a single conservative will just full mouthed endorse a return to how things worked in 1890, instead they gesture at some version of a welfare state that never existed and lament sexual morality is collapsing whilst they use the violence of the state to prop up that immorality

If the founding father's had been threatened with a coterie of lawyers threatening to drive a wedge between them and their wives, then claiming for themselves the power to divvy up every child, animal and asset whilst claiming for themselves a share (often the lion's share)... The founding father's would have slaughtered them to the last.
Lawns are defensive architecture.
If every house has one, its wide, and the HOA can boot you for not maintaining it, that keeps lower income blacks from moving into the neighborhood, and better the suburban design keeps them from randomly wandering through on foot.
AMERICA HAD WALKABLE DENSE TASTEFUL SMALL TOWNS WITH URBAN CORES.
Jesus you can drive through Ontario and still see all of them with their functional shopping districts. You can go to Montreal and see dense low cost 3 floor walk-ups with fire escapes and functional communities and tons of little parks, where people let their cats out at night and young children play with scooters and bicycles in back streets and allies before there parents take them to an event downtown on the subway...
America had all of this. Some of the nicest small cities humanity ever created, a ring of urbanism on the east coast and Midwest that occasionally gave Europe a run for their money.
AND THE GOVERNMENT ENABLED ETHNIC POGROMS AGAINST THEM.
The riots of the 50s and 60s destroyed American neighborhoods far removed from the south or "jim crow", where the defensive design of cities and comunities was already in place... And the government made damned sure no ordinary Americans defended their towns or cities... Hell they just did it again to another group of cities in 2020.
THIS IS WHY AMERICAN URBAN DESIGN IS SO FUCKED UP.
Because everything is designed with the assumption that no one can ever defend it, the regime will actively enable attacks on it, and come after you if you defend yourself.
If you look at how cities were designed 1864-1939 they have none of these problems, because it was assumed anyone breaking into homes or attacking old women would be shot or hanged.
Now you need a big fucking lawn, and you need to be part of a network of big fucking lawns, lest the walking dead druggies start moving through your neighborhoods... You look at neighborhoods from 1920 they follow a grid pattern, because its inherently superior for getting to places and having a wider community and having corner stores... post 1960 its all cul-de-sacs because "the community" will fucking murder you.
and you need everyone to maintain those lawns lest property values drop and your daughters be sexually assaulted or beaten into a coma at school were those lower income children will be going.
Everything wrong with urban design in the US, and all the shit it exports to Commonwealth countries, and Europe... is fundamentally an artifact of how necessary segregation was for white safety... and how now that that's impossible, we have to distort physical reality so that whites can work hard and buy segregation as a bizzare lifestyle instead of having to stand and fight the hot ethnic civil war they fled in 60s and 70s when some of the nicest examples of urban design on the north American continent were turned to fucking ruins.
You want to know what happens when you just have a well designed example of dense best practices urbanism that's been allowed to mature and keep it up piling good decision on good decision in a mid-sized city for 100s of years and as such everything winds up being reasonable and non-exclusive price wise? in the US?
Look at Baltimore.

No the liberals are well aware they're possibly never getting back into power.
All of Canada's left depends on Canadian media propped up by government subsidies. There isn't a newspaper, tv channel, or magazine that survives without it.
The conservatives have made it a CORE part of their platform that they'll defund it all... this is the thing their base cares about, this is the thing the party bosses all salivate over... If you told them the journalists would starve to death on the street they'd take the week off to watch it happen and jeer in real time.
They'll Let the CBC and every Canadian broadcaster die, such that it will just be Rebel News and American Media.
Unlike the US where there is sufficient demand and backdoor bribes to keep legacy media going, in Canada it will just die.
And then it will be 4 YEARS until the next election.
The big lesson they learnt from Harper and the convoys is the only thing preventing the total Americanization of Canada (and permanent shift to a US style 60-40 right-left division of time in power (as opposed to the 20-80 Canada had in the 20th century) is State funding of Media...
And they will spend ANY political capital and suffer any scandal to watch those journalist die deaths of despair.
The Big Shift (title of the book that predicted this would occur naturally in the 2010s) was Harper's dream, that if he hit the liberals at just the right angle enough times, their party would die. The New Democrats would become the left wing party, the bloc would become permanently more powerful in Quebec, and Canada forever after would function as America Jr. in terms of how politics played out...
This didn't happen because Trudeau had a magic to him, and every institution fought tooth and nail to prevent the 4th Harper Victory that would have locked it in.
But with Conservative Pierre Poilievre's now 40+% in national polls (this in a 5-6 party system)...and with Poilievre framing himself as Stephen Harper, but more blood-thirsty and Trucker levels of hostile to the media...
This looks like it might be the end of the Liberal-Laurentian era of Canadian politics.
Canada is a country where the parties aren't systemically locked in like in the states... and Great parties have died before. (see the progressive-Conservatives going from a Majority government to 2 seats in the 90s never forming government again, and then harper and his hostile Westerners to absorb them, then slowly purge the remainder of their leaders)

Obviously if HBD were not true, the Jews of Europe would be basket cases after the holocaust suffering under incalculable intergenerational trauma.
Israel would not have been found-able, and we'd see natural forming Ghettos where jews drink themselves to death, abuse heroin at insane rates, have rates of teen pregnancy, sexual assault, and incest vastly worse than even the most remote indigenous communities in north america, test scores that are barely measurable, single digit high-school graduation rates... and a double digit percentage of them wracking up felony convictions often before they can legally drink.
Instead of criticizing their apartheid regime against palestinians or lamenting the Casualties of Isreals various wars we'd be etternally wringing our hands that the Nuremburg laws never ended, that the French and German carceral states were the new face of the holocaust and that european civilization is eternally National Socialist in character... angry students would confront university presidents demanding he answer if he is a nazi, and in his political correctness he'd be unable to deny it... to keep his jo he'd have to weep and lament that jews remain so underpresented, and their graduation rate so abysmal, that an inescapable Nazism must pervade his campus and that he is trying to learn to defeat the hitler in his heart (much as the president of Evergreen didn't feel he could deny he was a white supremacist, but had to make weeping apologies for a white supremacy he would not endorse but could not deny being part of)
The film and entertainment industry would be desperate to shoehorn jewish actors and characters into traditionally white and black roles... and every year at the oscars holywood would make a big show of how many more jews they nominated for high awards... though the more critical commentators would point out they were still underrepresented in the behind the scenes money making positions, and regularly missed top billing.

One should be humble before God, but realistic in respect to others.
If Cummings is merely "Like a poster here" he's easily in the top 1% of government officials who have ever held senior office, and by far the most competent person in that cabinet. The stupidity, vacuity and hubris of the senior bereaucracy is almost impossible to internalize...
Its genuinely unbeleivable a man like Cummings penetrated it at all... The elite circles run off socialite style norms related to connections and status games that actively select against the kinds of people who make cohherent mental models and try to make them accord with the world. It the same as career politicans only with more pretense and less charisma, you see this in most academic sub-feilds related to politics as well...
The relationship of the words to actually reality is a 20th or 30th concern... the first concern is its relationship to Taboos and social signaling, and what's worse is all these fields select for people who do it subconsciously and can't tell the difference. People who aren't even capable of being true believers because they don't inherently process their words as being about the world as opposed to their social games.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes has a great moment:
The enemy out numbers the protagonist's fleet 3 to 2, and everyone's nervous about this... they would like to withdraw in the face of the superior force, but they can't because the enemy has divided into 3 that are able to head them off if they try any retreat...
Well the young High Admiral announces his plan. this is a classic case where defeat in detail is possible, if they strike out hard and fast at one of these enemy fleets they'll outnumber them 2 to 1... and then if they strike quick they can catch another, or worse case merely be outnumber 5-4 taking into account their losses and be able to force a draw... This is a real classic military scenario, Napoleon had a battle that went like this, and something like this is taught in almost every course on strategy.
One of the lesser admirals upon receiving these orders is outraged. "To reach for academic theory at a time like this!? In the midst of BATTLE!?"
so he defies the order tries to disengage his contigent, and he and that contingent die, while the battle turns from a sure defeat to that draw scenario.
The thing is, this lesser admiral who defied the order and died for it... he was the teacher of theory at their military academy! He had taught this theory every year for 20 years. Yet when given a command that directly aligned with the theory he had studied and taught for decades, he not only balked he was outraged!
To him all the theory he taught were polite words and and a social game, they bore no relation to the battlefield, they were related to academic life... he had dedicated his life to repeating the words and social concepts of being a professor of strategic theory, and he wasn't just willing to repeat those theories if they were wrong in fact, so long as they advanced his career... in his mind they only bore relation to his career, the idea they could be right or wrong about real battlefields in the future, as they were happening, was suplurflous or laughable. The theories were social games you played to describe maybe historical battles... And whether his own theories were right or wrong if deployed in the field was a laughable concern relative to how interesting or socially viable they might be...
He regurgitated "Defeat in detail" on tests, then in classrooms as the teacher... he maybe even believed he believed it... but to actually believe it would have meant resisting the thought, putting it under pressure, testing its mettle and how well he could rely on it... looking for contradictory examples, and only being satisfied once he'd concluded it'd held under his harshest scrutiny... And that's not what a "Model Student" who aspires to become a star teacher does. What if you discovered it was wrong? Or rather, in his psychology, that he's wrong and contrary to the social expectation. Is he going to risk placing himself in opposition to the institutional machinery he needs to appease and serve?
So when he received an order based on a theory that happened to be one of the best documented and well theorized realities of warfare ever given a name... one every moderately good strategy gamer should recognize intuitively... he balked and was outraged that some punk was either trying to play a status game to fuck with him, or that he's being lead by some dangerously delusional true believer who thinks these words were meant to constrain expectations about physical reality.

I've interacted with alot of academics, politicians, bureaucrats, mainline corporate types... everyone that's actively checked-in to the system instead of checked out and disgusted... the kind that will repeat the slogans sincerely... they're almost all like this fictional professor. Our society applies incredible consequences for social faux-pas and almost none for actually being wrong or ineffective. We lack both the scarcity and the high intensity warfare that creates those consequences for being wrong, and are drowning in the centralizing over-socialized morass that makes social norms sting.
Thus the people who get ahead in all but very niche fields are those who spend their lives thinking in relation to the social norms, and feel no compunction about any contradiction with physical reality for any myriad of psychological reasons ("What no I'm not making a probabilistic prediction!? what do I look like a booky! How Low class")... The idea these polite statements about opportunities for the future and everyone getting a chance should correspond to realized on the ground reality is laughable in politics, or an actively rude attack... And that casual dishonestly, even in one's own thoughts, that dismissal of the very possibility of a truth value in those words... that casual evil of banality... that's slowly infected everything our government or elite class has touched, and our elite no longer produces people meaningfully able to reach back and relate their linguistic games to reality any more...
they are all that professor of military theory and will intuitively turn and run when their own theories tell them they have the advantage... because that moment will be the first time they have to relate their words games to reality, and they'll immediately know (even if they don't already) that they haven't been doing that, and every cached thought, even one as basic as "Defeat in Detail"... Women are the meme sex. They're shockingly vulnerable to memetic infection. Peer-pressure, social contagion mental illnesses, god awful fashion trends... Cutting didn't meaningfully exist before the 90s and now a double digit percentage of girls have done it at some point.
Remember that sex ed class exercise from film/tv where students would be paired up and have to look after like a bag of flower for a week as if it was a baby? Ever notice how after the 2000s that just stopped? (I never did it in highschool) Studies were showing this teen pregnancy deterent was INCREASING teen pregnancy and subsequent births... Girls were memeable enough that merely acting out motherhood with a bag of flower made them uncontrollably want kids.
You could boost fertility rates just by subtly changing the sex ed and school curriculum to encourage fertility instead of discourage it, stretch out sex ed/pe to all 4 years of school (will make kids more attractive too) pay young, stay at home, new mothers (selected for perceived attractiveness and status, must be superior to the professional woman teachers) to come in with babies and talk to the girls about their experiences and just ensure every 14-18 year old girl is interacting with a baby at least once a month...
aside from that there's lot of finacial and career jiguring you could do around the side, end all state funded girls scholarship/replace with boys ones, subtly change antidescrimination law so employers can once again subtly refuse to hire/promote women on the assumption they'll get married/pregnant and training will be wasted... which will become a self-fullfilling prophesy as women fall ehind their male peers... use the security states defacto control of the media to make sure that instead of every Teen Comedy and TV show having a requisite 1/6 characters be gay, instead 1/5 characters must be pregnant at all times... Hell if you just replaced every coming out storyline with a pregnancy story line, we'd be back at replacement fertility.
Subtly change highschool and university mandates to have 3x the dances, coed sleepaway trips, and as many social events as possible... With free tution, volunteer opportunities, preferential hiring, high status make work etc, to pregnant/recent mothers to get as many big bellies and babies in highschools and on campus as possible so that girls are constantly seeing slightly older, wealthier, higher status girls swelling, nursing, tending, and cooing at all hours of the day, every day.
They should see it in school, on TV, around campus, in the classroom, with a goal that by the time a girl is 20 she'll have interacted with 100 pregnant women of higher status than herself and 100 babies.
Before the 80s most women got married and had kids ages 18p22... this should be the goal. To effect a real change we should be aiming to meme women into getting pregnant in that age bracket.
Given how many girls still feel compelled to get pregnant and have kids in their teens, despite society waging an endless propaganda campaign not to and instead to become some aging girl-boss middle manager ... merely inversing the propaganda and who they're exposed to on "career" day should reverse the trend very quickly and then become self-fullfilling as more and more of their friends and classmates become memetic vectors themselves.

You underestimate the level of horror.
The average person doesn't just not know how things work... They know as a matter of objective fact that they're hostilely designed to take agency away from them.
It is not only a pain in the ass that all cars have computers, it is now illegal to make new ones that don't have computers, those computers ensure you can't do maintenance on your own car, the user agreement might make it literally illegal to do that maintenance via cracks and work arounds, and the government is passing new regualtions so that your car will have remote automatic shutoffs, and maintain tracking data, so that it will betray you if you ever try to run from the state, and bear witness against you at your trial.
That's just cars. Computer software for the past 20 years has only gotten worse for 90% of users, going from an objest you owned and could install, to a permanent relationship tying you into dependence on hostile corporate entities you are now a permanent funder of... if Adobe decides they don't want you to be able to create certain images, they can just update your copy of photoshop to make it automatically stop you... sound far fetched? Try photocopying a dollar bill. The machine will detect what you're doing and override you. That isn't even software as a service, that's hardware.
Then there is the near permanent surveillance enabled by all the apps you literally must have to not be shut out of the economy and rendered homeless, the constant assault on your attention and hostile design meant to distract you that you must constantly fight on social media, which you also can't opt out of because that's now how business, romance, communtity organizing and basic socializing is done and you'll die alone and abandoned if you don't give in and feed your personal data and waning atttention to it...
and then even if you accept that as the cost of doing business those systems supposedly objective results are manipulated by people who hate you
to politically disempower you and destroy the last bits of resistance you could possibly muster.

Technology has not advanced in America... If we define technology as allowing people to get what they want: Improve their lifestyle, secure shelter, secure social relations, travel... Every aspect of American technology, from cars, to air travel, to office tech has only gotten worse since the 1980s.
Hell flying cars existed in the 1910s (teenagers could fly the Focker Dr3 and it would fit in a double wide garage), Nuclear batteries and freighters existed in the 60s, we had lighter than air freight service in the 20s.
By rights international trade should be dominated by 3000ft nuclear powered zepplins by now, and personal travel by cheap prop planes (you can not tell me just reproducing the Dr3 is more expensive than the modern nisan)

I disagree America has advanced. Outside of surveilling the population, killing foreigners, and safety features no one would willing pay for and thus have to be regulated... America has only regressed. Hell lifespans have even stopped rising...

Absolutely and they're absolutely right to do it.
There is one threat historically that will kill you, your friends, your family, and all of your children... and that's your political enemies.
The lesson of the 20th century is well over 250 million people were murdered by their own governments because they didn't hate their political opponents hard enough. They were willing to give their political opponents the benefit of the doubt, they were willing to try and live in a country in which their political opponents held power supreme power rather than resort to violence.
That was a mistake. it was a mistake of the landed farmers in Ukraine and Russia to try to live with the soviets in charge of them instead fighting to the death against their class enemies forming a government, it was a mistake of the Jews to not actually participate in terrorist conspiracies against the German government, and it was a mistake of the educated Chinese to try and live with their poltitical opponents trying to implement a cultural revolution.
No ethnicity has ever died out from having too much hatred and obstinacy in their heart. The occupants of the Stans and the Caucuses have surived thousands of years through mutual paranoia and hatred... Cooperation? Compromise? Working with your fellow man? Trusting that everyone ultimately wants what's best everyone? Not being tempted by extremism or alarmism?
250 million died making those mistakes. over 10% of the 1930 population.

What's going to be the big apocalyptic struggle this election?
I wrote a piece over at my blog about how at this time in 2020 we were already in "2 Weeks to slow the spread", were about 1 month out from the first anti-lockdown protests, and 2 months out from the Summer of Floyd.
It seems obvious to me that all the chaos in the wider American empire concentrates around election years and seems to have the oxygen sucked out of it on off years.. 2020 is obvious, 2016 was only slightly less history changing, and even the 2008 financial crisis was an election year event.
There's a lot of really obvious candidates: Ukraine could go south really catastrophically really quick; the middle-east is speculated to kick-off with a potential Israeli invasion of Lebanon; and going shearly off the numbers the US southern border is one of the largest population transfers in human history with few precedents since WW2 or the even the 4th and 5th century.
But I don't know, maybe it's my mind trying to fit things too neatly to the 2020 framework... it feels like the election hasn't started yet, it feels like there's some shoe to drop or issue I'm missing, something as far from public consciousness as Immunology in Jan 2020, or racial politics in March 2020...
I can feel this massive issue just behind my peripheral vision that's about to draw all my attention and require its own Motte containment thread, and that will devour the media and twitter, for months on end.
I feel like there's this huge world shattering issue that's about to explode and within the next few months I'll be lamenting that I only have 24 hours in the day to read enough about it, convinced that it DEMANDS every second of my attention.... And I have no idea what it is?

I'm honestly shocked, and believe its almost certainly an indictment of the American right, that there haven't been terrorist attacks on gender clinics and assassination attempts against transition doctors.

Father should be able to elect for a "Legal abortion/surrender" where he surrenders all rights and claims to the child, at any point in the child's developement.
If the mother then decides she can't support the child and elects to abort or put it up for adoption so be it.
This is the only solution that doesn't get into absurdities of women somehow having the inalienable right to abort or surrender their child, yet men somehow being bound from the moment they (or their wife's boyfreind) ejaculates.
Couples looking to adopt currently have to wait years and there is a dearth of adoption candidates. Or social problem is not a surplus of children but a surplus of legal and social regulations destroying the impetus to have children

A child is an expense little different from a dog. Its 20-100 lbs of mammal. Everything else is social signalling.
If a mother actually can't earn enough to afford to feed it in her studio apartment... she should give it up for adoption as anyone that incapable is clearly also going to be incapable at everything else to do with child rearing.
We have millions of competent well adjusted infertile couples who wish they could adopt... why the hell do we subsidize incompetent mothers one penny?

Blacks who were freed before the civil war were either freed by their masters or freed themselves via escape.
if freed by their master's this was down to 1 of 2 selection effects. Either they were intelligent and enterprising enough to become skilled and bargain a sum of money they could earn and pay for their freedom, or their master was sentimentally disposed towards them, quite possibly because they were his illegitimate offspring.
Indeed we see an overlap of these selection effects in escaped slaves. Frederick Douglas (an escaped slave) speculated himself that he was the son of his master, and implied this was common knowledge amongst the adult slave of the plantation he grew up on.

The hypothesis that absolutely everything is biologically heritable and informed by such biology, and nurture is completely discredited remains very very difficult to challenge.
If conditions were the cause of the discrepancy we'd expect a change as large as literal slavery vs literal freedom to account for the major difference and the gap to close as soon as that difference was gone.
If something like intelligence or heritable traits were to blame, then we'd expect changing the conditions via external forces (the union army) to not really alter the positional gap.
Otherwise we wouldn't expect a mere 10-20 year gap in date of liberation to make that big an impact 7-9 generations later
