Boston Celtics coach Ime Udoka is likely facing a suspension for the entire 2022-2023 season for his role in a consensual relationship with a female staff member, sources tell ESPN. A formal announcement is expected as soon as today.
The details aren't fully know yet but it's a bombshell of a news story for any sports fan, especially the NBA. It seems to be that the coach of the Boston Celtics had a completely consensual sexual relationship with a member of the Celtics staff and now the coach is getting suspended for the entire season. Not sure about discipline for the woman.
The Celtics went to the Finals last year (Heat fan gripe: the refs were the reason the Celts made it past the Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals - I've never been as heated {ha!} In my life over anything sports related in 30 years of watching as I have over this series) and this guy is considered THE up and coming coach.
He's married also.
What I'm seeing a lot of online is something along the lines of: you can't have a relationship with a subordinate, he deserves this, if not to be fired outright. Personally, I feel the statement of ' it's non of your damn business ' would have sufficed. This would apply to this guy on the Celtics or some head honcho at GNC or Walmart.

This stirred something in me that is rarely stirred (I was born in Poland). Some sort of patriotic anger. The Poles, along with the former Soviet states and most of Eastern Europe, absolutely loathe the Russians.
I imagine this isn't enough to send in the troops - but I could see myself reading a history book in 30 years about how Poland, and by extension, everyone else, were pulled into the Great Russian War by a bomb and two dead farmers.
Edit: Russia calls it provocation that Poland stated this

Your last paragraph completely threw me for a loop … I just didn’t see it coming after reading your post.
The woman in your post did the opposite of fuck her life up - it looks like she made her life better. She stopped drinking as much, found community, stopped hooking up, is looking for a family, etc.
I dislike religion pretty vehemently but I understand the community and sense of peace it can bring.

I've been over the doom porn esque feel of AI talk for years now it seems and it just keeps cranking higher & higher. We're basically on track with doom porn global warming catastrophe. It's just a race to the nonexistent finish line to see who can be doomier and gloomier on what subject.
Personally I'm ready to be told AI will cure blindness, and cancer, and give us 2 hour work days, and on and on.
I can't take any of these people even remotely seriously. AI will be fine. Our lives will be better. Just like having a fridge, or shoes. But just like food poisoning or dress shoes inspired plantar fasciitis - some shit will happen. Shut up and stop trying to retard the future (not to anyone here - just a general sort of want from me).

I know this is whataboutism - and I’m not making this argument, just kind of stating how I feel - but, and this does suck, we killed a million Iraqi’s and Afghans and fucked our good will for decades … why do I care about this dude?
It’s an oopsie - it’s not a US citizen - it sucks but, man it just gets a big who gives a fuck from me.
Get him back eventually and give him a million bucks - I’m not saying it’s a non story but I bet minus the destination, we’ve made a few thousand similar mistakes over the last twenty years.
Or maybe it’s the opposite of TDS for me - maybe I just downplay every story because every story for 10 years has been amplified to 10.
Hard to tell.

We're 50 years out from these people bombing things. We're not getting more radical, we're getting more squeamish about safety and death when one person dying possibly as the result of a delay caused by an activist is a large news story.
Can you imagine the hoopla if a climate activist blows up a bomb in NYC? As opposed to it just being another Tuesday in 1972.

I don't understand a lot of things in life - and thoughts like these rank among the top.
Israel is surrounded by people's who all basically want them destroyed. One group decided to invade them and kill (1000, 1200?) of them and take hostages. Said people store munitions in hospitals and schools.
By every conceivable human metric that isn't of the last 50 years, Israel has the absolute human right to completely glaze everything around them until they are happy and secure.
But they don't. They hold back. Always. For decades.
And you're upset they blew up a hospital ... Or didn't.

My continual take away is that I don’t like war being called ethnic cleansing.
It’s just war. It’s even a just war based on any literal thing I can think of in our psyche over the last several decades, much less the last two thousand years.
My prediction is Iran squirreled away its nuclear stuff and they’ll bomb a few bases and we’ll all call it a day - no idea if the regime is falling or not.
And I’m sure Israel wants leaders around them in various countries that don’t want to slaughter them completely.

I do feel slightly bad about giving zero fucks about the things Trump and his clan are doing compared to what the Dems have done recently. Almost I feel like it’s a ‘ well the doors open now ‘ so motorboat away whole heartedly.
I guess I never much cared about Hunter Biden getting paid as much as I cared that people were lying about it and calling me a ring winger or even Nazi or stupid for ‘ believing ‘ that anything shady was going on.
Now that I write that out, that’s definitely the issue. I see what corruption is, and so does everyone else, for the most part. Being gaslit is what makes me start giving a care.
That’s actually a shockingly small list from the NYT so maybe Trump isn’t pulling a Ceaser.

The problem with whitey is that I was born on a rabbit farm in communist Poland and don't have anything inherently in common with a Frenchman, a dude from Cali, a Swede, nor a guy from Northern Florida whereas oftentimes, people with black skin seem to feel some sort of absurdist kinsmanship with other people of their skin color - most especially in the US.
I'm sure there's many good and valid reasons for this but for a simpleton like me it seems absurdly racist.
So I don't see a 'rising' of whitey but I also don't feel very strongly about being correct here. I see myself being pushed into the white sphere by what I consider anti white racism - which in turn makes me understand the brotherly plight of the American black better.

My personal rebuttal to this is always something like ' yes - it is very bad that my grandparents went through the Holocaust in Poland, it is bad that my parents lived through communism in Poland, but it still sucks for me personally that I have to pretend a man is somehow a woman, or that I have to pretend everyone in the US is my equal, or that ... ' so yuh, its relatively mild - but it's still living in unreality, and it's still bothersome.
Tipper Gore is the reason my CD's had parental advisory stickers and the left is the reason tweets and podcasts and truthteller marks are all over everywhere telling us wrong facts.

I just want to add, I mostly think your comment chain here is rad, even if I had a slight disagree, but there’s absolutely zero price transparency in medicine.
Zero.
I’m 40 and even tho I don’t go to the Dr a lot … there has never, ever been price transparency. In anything remotely close to medicine, for myself or anyone else I know.
That’s not your fault.
But not defaulting to the obviousness of a lack of price transparency is driving me up a wall.

I love sports and I love women's mma but otherwise I have zero interest in women's sports.
I do, however, care about living in reality and living in a world that acknowledges some truths.
One of those truths is someone who went through male puberty will always, in every single case, have a competitive advantage over a woman.
I don't even really care that some weightlifting record has been broken or some high school girls might lose a scholarship. If anything, I think it's funny.
I just care that people are pretending about the realities of this situation.

I have a friend who has been suicidally depressed all of his life. After he had covid twice, possibly three times (we all did - meaning my friend group), he now had all the symptoms that he's always had but blamed it on long covid while I politely kept silent.
I do think people who were / are overly worried about covid probably now have more depressive symptoms but I just don't know any of these people. I live in South Florida - not the culture.
Also, no one I associate with is getting their energy sapped from culture war fights. That's just a mega online thing that mostly doesn't happen in real life. Note however that I'm not saying the culture war hasn't exploded into our modern lives over the last decade, it's just different than what you're referring to here.
I think you're noticing this because for the first time in my lifetime (I'm 38) there appears to be some sort of centralized white mainstream identity happening.
Mainstream racial appeals have been going on my entire life. Mostly from blacks, some, more now, from Hispanics. When white people do it it's called extremist and white nationalist. When some other group does it it's considered normal.
