The article does not present a single piece of evidence demonstrating Russians believed NATO expansion was a security threat. The one money quote from Putin this guy hammers on like it is some proof of McFaul’s dishonesty is Putin saying it didn’t “make any sense”. That’s literally it.
I take an excedrin (which I believe is mostly caffeine) semi-frequently for headaches.
I’ve tasted alcohol a handful of times but always found it unpleasant. I tried chewing tobacco once but it made me feel very unpleasantly lightheaded. I tried cigarettes once and felt nothing, only coughed a bit. I once walked into a flavored hookah place but the smell was unbearable so I left without trying it. I tried coffee maybe once, but found nothing worth repeating about it. I’ve had a fair number of caffeinated sodas in my life, but I never noticed any effect and the caffeine free versions taste the same to me, so I prefer those given the choice. Never tried marijuana because the smell is so awful I wouldn’t want to ruin my clothes or car with it. Never tried any harder drugs because I have never encountered their usage. I have tasted tea on a handful of occasions but it just tastes like warm perfumed water to me, nothing pleasant about it, if it had caffeine I didn’t notice any effect. Never tried 5 hour energy or red bull or any of those hyper-caffeinated things. Never tried any of those ADHD meds like adderall or whatever as I have never met anyone recreationally using them.

Did we read the same article? Does it have even one quote from a Russian leader stating unequivocally that they oppose NATO expansion? I can believe they did oppose it but the article says nothing of the sort

Eh, so what? First, to some extent this could very well be in a feedback loop at this point, where it is merely edginess that derives its coolness from the fact it triggers the right sort of people like Tucker Carlson, as opposed to any attraction to children. If Tucker keeps getting triggered it keeps being cool. Not very high brow, but I could imagine that dynamic being real. Similarly, Satanic symbols most frequently don’t evince any genuine belief in or worship of Satan, as opposed to simple desire to trigger Christians.
Twenty years ago gamers were revelling in this same sort of behavior, and perhaps the art world isn’t any more mature.
Even if Podesta’s art collection was indicative of genuine pedophilia, I guess there are a couple follow up questions. Is the rate of pedophilia for “the elite” any higher than among any other group of people? You get a big enough group together and you’re bound to have a few pedophiles, so finding one sus art collection doesn’t mean much.

He made no effort to return it, ditched the clothes, used the bag after knowing it wasn’t his and lied to police. What more do you need? If he never admits: “Yep I stole it” is he all good?

We already knew that Twitter censored the story and suspended The Post’s account. So before any of this info we had it narrowed down to three most likely possibilities: 1. Twitter censored it on their own initiative, 2. They censored it at the direct request of the Biden campaign, 3. They censored it at the behest of the federal gov’t (FBI, whatever)
Option 1, Twitter doing it on their own initiative seems by far the least explosive of those options. So these leaks just confirm it as the least interesting of the possibilities we had. I don’t see how any illusion of choice is relevant here, choice between what?

I may well get banned for asking this, but whatever. Are there any books or sites that present the case for Holocaust denial in a sane and somewhat reasonable way? I read some book skeptical of the Anne Frank diary that someone on here mentioned a while back, but I wasn’t impressed with it.
Now I understand the witches problem, and the fact that it is so taboo/ghettoized it’s going to select for nuts, but if there’s anything to it surely someone has put together a relatively coherent argument that actually engages with the strongest arguments of the non-denial side.
I have seen enough BS like Kamloops to be willing to give denialists a hearing, if any of them have written a summary worth reading

The photos only prove that many starved and many died. Look at photos of Andersonville prisoners from the American Civil War, they look the same. That doesn’t mean necessarily that there were gas chambers or a deliberate extermination program.

Learning the earth was really 6000 years old would actually go a pretty long way towards convincing me Christianity is true. You are being extremely condescending and scornful, sneering that anyone that “ever opened a history book” would know better (but refusing to elaborate or engage), while FarNearEverywhere is saying he would break the nose of anyone questioning genocide.
On the other hand, @SecureSignals is providing numerous sources, links and actual arguments regarding the historiography of the Holocaust.
I understand there is the whole issue from Epistemic Learned Helplessness, that a crank with a hobby horse can be much more prepared than a mainstream normie. But you should understand, SecureSignals is coming across better here. Wikipedia is incredibly ambiguous regarding the consensus on the authenticity of the shrunken heads and lampshades.
A human skin lampshade was reported to have been displayed by Buchenwald concentration camp commandant Karl-Otto Koch and his wife Ilse Koch, along with multiple other human skin artifacts.[2] Despite myths to the contrary, there were no systematic efforts by the Nazis to make human skin lampshades.[3]
This seems to leave their authenticity an open question (systematic doesn’t mean it never happened). Google’s top results also seem very evasive and weasely. Do you have anything more solid or unambiguous regarding current mainstream consensus?

Watched the doc, thanks for the recommendation. There were some mildly cringe parts (wanting to give Ilse Koch a hug lol), but whatever still interesting. Seems fairly clear the skin and heads were planted by the Allies, and this certainly does make me significantly revise my estimate of the likelihood of things. If the allies were provably engaged in conspiracies to fabricate evidence relating to the Holocaust in some cases, it has to make it more likely that other pieces of alleged evidence are merely fabrications as well

This article puts a lot of weight on the phrase “legitimate grievance”, but that just sort of sidesteps the question of justification.
If you say my shirt is ugly, I may now have a “legitimate grievance” because you insulted my clothing, but this would hardly be sufficient justification if I chose to murder you in response. So the fact that it is a “legitimate grievance” is really very meaningless. Likewise, the question of “legitimate grievance” with respect to Russia seems similarly meaningless to me. All of these articles from Russia sympathizers are saying little more than “Yes but you insulted his shirt first!”
All of the articles like this have always left me with the same questions. And these are sincere questions, I know little about this conflict. Does the invasion of Ukraine actually do anything to prevent or rollback NATOs expansion? Does the invasion of Ukraine increase Russia’s security? Does the invasion of Ukraine benefit Russia in a way that outweighs the costs? Does it honestly seem like Russia is in a more secure position now than it was a year ago? If the answer is no, then how is any of this justification relevant?
