We often don't understand what makes politicians special. We're disappointed that they are usually midwits, but the good ones are elite in other ways. Simply being able to keep it all together is impressive.

Grandiose narcissism apparently offers some sort of 'shield' to keep external stressors from being internalized.

Sociopathy is probably more extreme than that, in both 'positive' and negative ways.

Imo the best part of Star Wars Galactic Racer is how it looks in still images (really good). I refunded it quickly.

I'm trying out OoSS now. Fascinating game.

Ublock Origin demonstrated that a handful of motivated nerds can reliably pummel the 'elite human capital' of a site like Google looking to block specific user-types,

What's this referring to?

Funny. Nothing but neo-nazis in the comments though. The channel seems to attract them.

There seems to be some incongruence between the constant "The Motte needs you!" pages where everyone gets to help moderate, and the "only mods get to actually decide anything" stance.

Increase in actual income seems more important. It's lower than even the official inflation figures.

No, I did not take you for a slob.

I figure you're posting here for a reason. If everything was progressing smoothly for you, you wouldn't be making this kind of post. You said that the obvious first step to improving your status (and self worth, I imagine) is to move out. Yet you have excuses for not doing so. So you need to decide. Staying at home while building up more wealth is a valid option. Traveling the world before taking on expensive rent payments is a valid option. Moving out right away is a valid option. Moving out and then traveling the world is valid too, just more expensive, but comes with the upside of having your own place to talk about when you meet new people on your travels. Just pick the one option that seems wise and stick to it. Not the easiest one. Not necessarily the hardest one. The wise option.

Your mind is furnished with some silly beliefs, viewpoints, verbal lines. You call yourself "unemployed" while you're regularly making good money and you're getting close to being set for life. You say you've "never had a job" - well, good. Bringing in money is the primary purpose of being employed by someone else, so you have that covered better than most people, and you don't need to worry about it. Most people's job/career does not give them a huge amount of status. And what someone does in exchange for money is not the most important thing in life. Far from it.

If there's no huge obstacle and you're still not doing what you think you should be doing, maybe you're just used to having obstacles and this primes you to look for them and act as if they are present, instead of looking for and going for opportunities.

Like I said in a previous post, figuring out what to want is as important as getting what you want. What would make your proud of yourself at the end of your life?

Forget the bullshit 'society' wants and governments want from their peons. What do YOU value and respect? Most people are full of shit and just do what they were indoctrinated to do. The masses are mostly wrong about most things. You see this in the markets, it's part of the reason why you've had success. IMO you don't need "lots of new people" in your life, or respect from most people. You need a few wise people. People you respect and who respect you (or the person you're on the path to becoming).

It won't be the same lifestyle. Having your own nest that you chose and you take care of is very different, mentally, from living in someone else's. Are you more likely to establish a worthwhile romantic relationship while living with your parents, or while having a nice place or your own? What do you think? Do you want to spend another 16 years in this location? You'll be 44 and still living with your parents. At that point it would make sense to start talking about ending up as a loser. So steer clear of that.

I would start journaling if you're not already doing so. Write down your assumptions and look twice at them. Question if they're true. "Can I be 100% certain that this is true?" Instead of having "moving out" or "living a rewarding life" as big, vague monoliths, look closer and divide them into component parts.

"I know I should just get over the hump and do it" is a line of thought that sets you up to fail and procrastinate over and over, because the entrenched habits, promising safety, will usually win at each turn over the "threatening unknown". In a sense, you're in a wagon-wheel rut in a muddy road. The wheels slot into the grooves almost automatically. This happens before you wake up each morning. Steering out takes effort, and the wheels keep trying to fall back in. Having a simplistic "either-or" dilemma is unlikely to help. You should try to make the new path clearer and easier and more attractive to get into.

Fear of change is likely the rub of the issue. Working up some courage is one part of the solution, but it's not the most important one. If you rely on miraculously waking up one morning and getting over the threshold, years may pass without that happening. So plan things in achievable, bite sized chunks instead.

"It doesn't make financial sense to spend more money to live" is an effective attack from your mind against someone who deals with P&L every day. The human mind mainly wants to do things as it's always done (because doing so has not killed you yet) instead of trying something unknown. And it knows your weak spots. And it's shameless enough to keep hitting them to win each battle.

Your perspective on life and yourself is bad, unhelpful to you. You should try to work on that on a daily basis. Establish something more realistic and helpful. Good news: Views and beliefs are all wrong, as in never 1:1 with whatever 'reality' is; never set in stone; and can be changed. You may have heard the saying "all models are wrong; some are useful". So investigate what you've got currently, throw out the counter-productive ones and establish good beliefs. Knowing what to want is as important as knowing how to go about getting what you want.

You have no idea how lucky you are, and how many opportunities may be open to you. You're self-employed and you have a ton of money. That's not something to be ashamed of, at all. You can proudly present yourself as a consistently successful trader. Which is awesome. Maybe don't mention "crypto" to people who may have prejudice against that. Yours is an extremely good position that the vast majority of the world's population does not have. Make more use of it! Move out, into to your own place in a high quality of life area. Spending an extra 30k a year is a no-brainer to go for. You make around 10x that much each year, it sounds like. What good is your money if you don't invest it (outside the markets!) to have a good time in life? What use is your 7 figure hoard if you die a year from now? You never know when death will come for you. And time is the one thing you can never earn or replenish.

Look up the best books on refurbishing your mind and its beliefs, and getting shit done. You already know how to teach yourself difficult things and succeed at them. The advice from @OracleOutlook on having two major hobbies that build you and where you build something is a good one.

Best of luck! Back yourself, man. And please post another update at some point.

Only luck and heroism prevented the deaths of 174 people.

Luck with where the stab wound appeared to be. Luck that there was a pilot among the passengers who could land the plane. Heroism from the stabbed co-pilot and some passengers.

Some people are trying to call this act of terrorism fake news or a false flag operation.

The amount of antisemitism and Muslim sympathies that are allowed to flourish these days, makes me a bit worried.

I too found it bizarre that they were released on bail. Unless the plan is to surveil them closely and hope they'll 'phone home'. Aren't terrorism laws supposed to make it easy to hold suspected terrorists?

A lot of people seem to let themselves be slotted into a "NPC" type role where they more or less just subscribe to all the tightly and loosely associated positions that have connection to a couple of core positions in some neural network. There are a few easily identifiable types. E.g. the redditor who cares desperately about 'the Gaza genocide' (currently). This type also subscribes to feminism (and will combat any mentions of disparate societal impacts against men), covid zoonosis, pronouns, opposition to mass immigration being 'Islamophobia', respect for higher education and credentials as a basis for credibility rather than actual mental rigor, BLM and denial of race/crime stats, etc, etc.

It seems to have a term: package adoption. It's supposed to reduce cognitive load, provide cognitive closure and the comfort of motivated reasoning (going backwards from group belonging to 'make sense of' issues rather than go bottom-up from evidence), while reducing social costs and providing tribal identity. Almost like religion, I guess. And I'm guessing there's a strong influence from higher education institutions here: In order to fit in and not have your chances at romance and future employment harmed, you need to conform to the dominant politics in the student/staff body.

The increase in money supply seems relevant. If there's 6-8% more money in circulation year over year, you can't just point to "3% inflation", right?

Thank you for this. First time I've been really surprised by something all week. IT'S NOT AN ACTRESS trying to seem as untrustworthy as possible. Lmfao.

Everyone except Stalin himself? Was he ever investigated? He seems to have been the chiefest source of the terror, regardless of rank, for everyone else.

It's not a steak too juicy situation when they consistently ignore your feelings, how you're actually doing as a person, the actually important things in life, to exclusively ask about 'dry' bullshit.

I'm aware that there were great purges of leading figures, generals and officers, etc. But I wonder if these cycles of killing were separate from the butchery of commoners, or not. The sadists who were employed in the gulags and tortured millions to death - were they met with a similar, deserved end during these cycles, too?

Then their torturers were tortured and executed. Then the torturer-torturers were tortured and executed.

Is this factual?

Western society is easily more absurd at this point than what parodies looked like 15-20 years ago.

"According to the most recent Greenland Population Health Survey from 2018–2019, 35% of young people aged 15–34 engage in heavy episodic drinking, consuming at least 60 grams or more of pure alcohol on at least one occasion in the past 30 days."

It's a very poorly defined bracket.

I haven't seen this myself as I don't use Tiktok, but afaik, Tiktok was early and intense in pushing the "Free Palestine/Israel are committing genocide" meme complex among Western teens.

How are you, or the public at large, supposed to use Astra (or any other sufficiently powerful model), which must be used in the cloud unless you have a 50k dollar setup at home? Do you trust these companies with very sensitive personal info?

(Though, having asked that, it comes to mind that we don't actually have privacy in regular doctor's officers either, due to phones and other devices recording all audio at all times)

Another net negative for Russia's nearest, most vulnerable neighbors, probably.

maybe I should write an effort over-post on drone swarms, I love this subject.

raises paw Interested!
