How do you keep track of what you've read online? How do you manage your personal research? Do you have a system? Do you have collections, and keep notes? Is this an actual problem you have?

I have a backup folder that I update and copy to a flash drive a few times a year. I've named the .txt files by intentionally adding a number at the start of the name (0 to 5) to signify the importance and make it easier to sort them. For example, "2contacts.txt" lists my acquaintances, their contact information, birthdays, etc.

The downside is that this system takes a moderate amount of effort to regularly update/trim/reorganize everything. The upside is that I basically never forget anything.

I hate the inventory management and gameplay but love the writing and sheer number of choices and consequences. I'm still seeing decisions I made 150 hours ago impact my current story. Minor, barely noticeable decisions in side-quests early on in chapter 1 still matter late in chapter 3.

I am once more reminded of that one Bioware lady who wanted a "skip gameplay" button.

Is piracy an option? I checked a few of my goto trackers and they have it uploaded.

Why do humans have such a preference for mixed foods?

Mixing different foods ensures a more balanced diet, providing essential nutrients, vitamins, antioxidants, fiber and minerals. Certain food combinations can enhance the nutritional value or bioavailability of individual ingredients. For example, pairing vitamin C-rich foods with iron-rich foods can increase iron absorption.

Also, there's probably a connection between salty/sweet/spicy foods and the abilities of (pure) sugar, salt and capsaicin to slow food spoilage by inhibiting bacterial growth.

Wow, that is a very high-effort post!

I live in Eastern Europe (Bulgaria) and I've had a VERY different experience. I've talked to about 4 different doctors up to this point. One didn't even know what ADHD is, another didn't believe it's a "real" thing, the third told me I can't possibly have it because I finished highschool. The fourth told me that I do indeed have ADHD (after a year of insisting my real problem is depression) but she doesn't feel comfortable being a "legal narcotics dealer".
I've talked to my fellow countrymen on forums and the consensus is overwhelmingly the same: doctors here won't prescribe methylphenidate and pharmacies don't stock it. It's wild to me that India of all places has a more functional medical institution in this regard. I am quite envious of your situation.

I don't recall any that were published somewhere more respectable than 4chan, though.

You can't publish those types of experiments anywhere else because you'd be drowned in an endless sea of insults and strawmen.

"The Happiness Trap, 2nd edition" by Russ Harris. I was recommended this book as a "low-cost, low-effectiveness" potential solution to a wide range of mental problems (depression, anxiety, addiction, etc.). I'm only about 30% in and it's too early to say anything for sure.
I have used a similar book on CBT in the past and that one was definitely worth reading.

That is the greatest dub of all time!

Been looking for an answer to this question for the past 25 years... Seemingly, some people just have a raison d'être and others don't.

Wow, the statistics about penis length just straight up destroyed me mentally. I had gone my whole life thinking "14-15cm is average, I'm a bit above average so I don't have to worry about this nonsense."
Seeing women expect 20-22cm though... Wow, that is just brutal.

Mostly just leave it on the harddisk and listen to it whenever I feel like it. I've uploaded a few songs to my phone but I spend most of my time in front of my PC anyway.

Kudos for putting actual effort into finding the original data.

Been playing "Reverse Collapse - Code Name Bakery" lately. It's 20% asian VN , 80% turn-based tactics game similar to xcom. The graphics style is very cute chibi with some really impressive (and gruesome) animations.

I would describe the story as "grimdark post-apocalyptic dystopian hard sci-fi with a dash of time-travel shenanigans". The themes and events contrast sharply with the moe artstyle.

In terms of gameplay, it's mostly excellent, with the exception of the occasional mandatory stealth section. I chose the hardest difficulty mode and I can only describe it as "sadistically cruel". I'm talking "3 hours for a single bossfight", 2 hours for the typical level. And almost all of that is thinking and changing tactics. The UI and camera are clearer, easier to understand and more informative than the ones in Xcom. The "two 90% misses in a row" meme still exists but it's nowhere near as bad. And you can tell exactly where enemy LoS and shooting range end, which I can only applaud.
There are some RPG elements of the "choose which talents to buy and which items to craft" type but they're very minor.

I do recommend it to VN and Xcom enjoyers out there. If you're curious why the steam score is mixed, there was apparently some drama with the fans of a different game and typical brigade shenanigans ensued.

Cows don't "produce" CO2, they're part of the biological carbon cycle, like rotting leaves and compost piles. All the carbon a cow emits comes from vegetation that got it from the air only a few months before. It neither adds nor removes carbon from the cycle.

Intentionally conflating the exogenous release of geologically sequestered carbon through fossil fuels with the natural carbon cycle is unforgivably dishonest vegan propaganda that needs to be stomped out thoroughly.

Whoever told it to you is a malicious liar you should hunt down and punish for trying to fuck with your understanding of the world.

Hey I was asked to look at your comment by the volunteer quokka report thing and I assumed you were bullshitting but decided to look at the actual science just in case. To my shock, you are correct, despite all the things I've read online, the science suggests that cows largely maintain the current CO2 levels as opposed to adding on to them. So kudos for calling attention to a very important fact and I apologize for having been successfully brainwashed up to this point.

What advise would you give your 16 year old self?

You have ADHD, start saving money and reading about the condition online. When you're 18, ask your GP for a recommendation to a psychiatrist.
Don't tell any of your relatives or friends about this. Find a physically demanding job like working at a warehouse ASAP. Both for the money and for improving your health, stamina and physical appearance.

You will have ADHD for the rest of your life and you will have to fight every step of the way against a medical institution that is hellbent on keeping you away from medication which is very safe and very effective at treating your condition.

Despite this, it is possible to live a worthwhile, productive, satisfying life in accordance with your goals. ADHD merely makes things tremendously difficult, not impossible.

PS: Advice (the noun) is spelled with a "c". Advise does exist as a correct spelling but only as the verb "to give someone advice".

I'm surprised at how few insults were aimed at you. There were only a few and they were at least somewhat disguised.
Overall, I think you're wasting your time. You assume rationalists are good at/focused on thinking rationally because they say they are. In reality, the thick jargon, the nerdy topics and all the other pretenses are nothing but a way to signal "I'm a part of this tribe". Similarly to the rainbow flag and saying "diversity" at least once every 5 sentences for progressives.
But if you're having fun, more power to you!

Beautiful story. My favorite part is the abrupt and anticlimactic ending.

While reading a book, do you feel emotions similar to those felt by the characters in the book? If yes, how strongly?

You should consider making a permanent spam-only email so you don't have to go to the trouble of making a new burner each time.

As far as the moral implications... uh, this is basically a hostage negotiation. You should think of the employee as a puppet rather than a real human. The corporation may hurt the cashier in some of these situations but they hold the responsibility for that suffering, not you.

Has anyone here had a similar experience?

I did after about 2-3 weeks on Atomoxetine.
In short, my way of thinking changed from:

No matter what I do, no matter how hard I try, life will put more walls in my way.

to

There will be challenges in my future. I can overcome some of them myself and ask the people around me for help with others. And if there are any that are completely insurmountable, I can learn to live with them.

It's a very small difference in perspective but it had a very profound effect on my behaviour.

The two big FPS mods I've come across are Horizon for Fallout 4 and Gamma for the Stalker trilogy.
Horizon turns Fallout 4 into a very difficult, survival-focused adventure that I found interesting even after 200+ hours. The story/writing is mostly still shit and it's a GIGANTIC mod so almost nothing is compatible with it but it is easily the best way to play Fallout 4 imo.
GAMMA is also a very difficult, very survival-focused mod that is essentially what 15+ years of work prompting up a 2007 game looks like. All the levels from the base game and its 2 expansions, more than 500 different weapons, dozens of mutants, a complete reimagining of the artifact system (and the next patch promises yet another artifact remake), a robust repair/weapon parts system and an overwhelming number of mod options to adjust the game to whatever the player wants it to be.

The best place to find installation instructions and links for these two are their discords. Which is a shame imo but it is what it is.
Incidentally, have you noticed how this type of discussion used to be almost entirely a reddit thing and has sharply moved towards discord in the last few years? Maybe a sign of things to come.

Yeah, I feel the same way. Sometimes I just want to post a neat little fact or news story and I don't see the point in adding 20 lines of cultural war BS about why This is A Big Deal and People Need to Care About It.
LLMs can help add some random BS but they often post passive aggressive "wrongthink is bad, mkay" lectures when they're not happy.

I wish there was a forum for actual neutral news. Like what reddit used to be 10 years ago.

You just helped me realize "Trans women are women" is a motte-and-bailey. There are 2 ideas there:
"You should treat trans women as women because that is the morally correct thing to do" and
"Trans women are literally women".
I've seen a lot of people attack and mock the latter on forums but I never noticed the implied former idea until now. I guess that's the one US progressives actually believe and they use the offensive/latter version to piss off the outgroup.

As of right now, the official trailer has 266k upvotes and 597k downvotes. It seems quite a few people are pissed, to put it mildly. Keep in mind there's an extra barrier to downvoting these days in the form of a necessary extension so the actual numbers are certainly much worse than what we can see here.

Overall, I can't see this as anything other than a colossal misstep by Ubisoft. "No such thing as negative advertisement" doesn't apply in this case because Ghost of Tsushima launched for PC at almost the exact time the Shadows trailer released and everywhere I look, I see comments along the lines of "play this for the actual Japanese samurai experience".

Imagine how easy it would have been for them to make Yasuke a kind, intelligent side-character and contrast him with an evil, stupid, warmongering Oda Nobunaga. They would have gotten tons of DEI points and almost nobody would have said anything negative. Instead, they catapulted a direct competitor to success and alienated a huge chunk of what could have been their core audience.
