There's a well established legal defense known as "not guilty by reason of insanity" and psychosis is an accepted reason for that decision, because it's about a break with reality.

So the trial was to decide if that law applied. Massachusetts also has a weird approach where it's on the prosecution to prove the accused was sane rather than on the defendent to prove that they were insane.

The logistics of repealing an amendment make this an incredibly unlikely outcome from normal politics.

For the 19th to be repealed, the political landscape would need to change enough for a substantial percentage of women to support it also. I'm not sure what could cause such a shift to happen.

The gender wars do seem up right now. I wonder how much is economics and how much is dating trouble.
