Seems pretty straightforward for you tbh, maybe try some anxiolytic drugs before you ask? A hit of THC usually does the trick for me in anxious situations, I’ve heard great things about phenibut.

< 3g in a hotel room is prob fine as long as you don’t have any psychological issues like suicidal tendencies

Total War: Warhammer 3

If anyone has a favorite faction they want me to try (as a total beginner) I’ll give it a shot this week and post updates next Friday.

I'm not very good at it. I usually do okay on Easy/Easy until I'm up against Skaven or a particularly well-defended city battle. Just picked up a bunch of DLCs for Steam's Spring Sale though, so looking forward to trying Chaos Dwarves (EDIT: tried these, way too complicated, will put them off until later), Malus Darkblade, or the Sisters of Twilight. Hopefully the next DLC actually changes some of the base mechanics of the seriously underpowered Empire, Dwarves, and Nurgle factions with balance/campaign mechanics tweaks and not just giving them 20 new units each.

Think most of the players in my friend's casual soccer circle would feel similarly. The players on his rec team might have better gamesense.

Warning sign about what, exactly?

This is usually because they conflate promiscuity with low standards, they're not equivalent

Among 2nd generation Indian-Americans, I literally don't know a single one who believes that Vishnu, Shiva, Kali, etc. all exist as separate entities. They're more or less panentheists that sometimes pray to a one of the Devas (usually Shiva or an incarnation of Vishnu) as the personality of The Absolute. Sometimes they don't even do this and their beliefs are indistinguishable from New Age spirituality (which ofc is heavily influenced by Hinduism).

Is any women who isn’t pregnant/disabled/very old actually going to be flattered by you offering her your seat? Surely the vast majority would find that really awkward and borderline demeaning?

Will do. Curious if you have a link to that discussion. A search of the site only turned up culture war content.

Ah, okay that explains it

Only in the sense that the very basic metaphysics of the Vedas (Brahman, Atman, Maya, and the relationship between those three concepts) is pretty much 100% correct. Indian philosophy then goes on to layer a bunch of esoteric concepts onto that ontology that actively detract from this understanding that I think range from just wrong (reincarnation) to morally repugnant (karma).

Unfortunately I don't speak it myself even though I know dozens of words in it just by learning about Buddhism/Advaita Vedanta.

Is there a good writeup on how AI might affect employment in software engineering in the next 3 years or so?

In hindsight I shouldn’t have used the words “intellectual property” in my comment since it’s more of a legal term, my question was more about “is it stealing/plagiarism in the same sense that it would be if a human produced the same work”.

The Darkness That Comes Before.

Finished this series (The Second Apocalypse) recently, highly recommended for fantasy fans. In terms of word count it's actually only as long as Harry Potter, though obviously a more challenging read. Really not that many characters to keep track of though and there are some handy guides online for it.

The only reason to play this game is for Immortal Empires, which requires all three games in the series.

Doesn't appear to be true anymore, looks like you just need the first two games/DLCs to access all the factions and leaders.

Interesting, earlier this year I did watch some of his interview with Bernardo Kastrup, one of my favorite modern philosophers, on the Theories of Everything Podcast but it didn't particularly stick with me. The series you linked sounds interesting, I'll give it a shot. Though I'm generally skeptical that a search for meaning is necessary or desirable. But I am coming from a more Buddhist nihilist perspective meaning is mostly a cope for dissatisfaction caused by misdirected attention. I didn't realize Vervaeke himself is a Buddhist, so if he still makes the case for finding meaning I'm open to hearing it.

I naively assumed that the skill ceiling was lower in the mental game of soccer and the pros were distinguished by varying degrees of athleticism. But actually no, even among the best players there's a huge variation in levels of spatial awareness.

What sorts of people are your female friends? Do they not invite you to events with their other female friends?

Completely agree, their end of the year list from 2013 is very diverse and holds up really well: https://www.albumoftheyear.org/list/255-pitchforks-top-50-albums-of-2013/

I can't fathom having sex with a woman who lives with her parents, is this a European thing? In America I think it's your place or bust. Maybe exceptions might be made for Chad.

I'm American, yes. Honestly my urologist barely walked me through the alternative options. Right now I'm considering just replacing my circumcision with a frenuloplasty and seeing how that works out. But I'm concerned that scarring in the frenulum might make my issues worse. I suppose I could just have it removed if the scarring is problematic? I'm not sure. Medical sites say the recovery from a frenuloplasty takes 6 weeks but people on forums seem to suggest it can easily be months.

This is interesting, I was under the impression that steroid creams could not treat frenulum breve. My phimosis itself is actually relatively mild, I can retract with no issue, it just pinches the head when I'm erect and doesn't slide up and down during sex. The frenulum breve is much worse and causes most of my issues. Your case seems worse than mine (unless your frenulum is longer) so if you solved yours with creams and stretching maybe that's a safe route for me. Is there any downside to trying a less invasive approach first? Just thinking out loud here but I guess I could try:

In this order:

  1. stretching exercises

  2. stretching exercises with steroid creams (the steroid concentration is quite low and shouldn’t affect my body outside of making the skin stretchier)

  3. frenuloplasty (where they reshape the frenulum to lengthen it slightly)

  4. frenulectomy (where they just remove it)

  5. circumcision as a last resort if that fails after several months

I’m finally getting circumcised later this month as a 24 year old to treat mild phimosis and severe frenulum breve. Hoping this will give me the ability to have some semblance of a normal sex life. Has anyone had this procedure as a teen/adult?

You consider that anoydyne? I would certainly never try that unless the "date" is just a booty call. Think you've gotta be pretty masculine for that to work.
