The alarm should be quieter because people didn't pay attention to it because it was too loud is an interesting way to say the "vicious cycle" was just a lot of rationalizing away the concerns.
The real problem isn't that leftists pulled the fire alarm, it's that your social media bubble didn't, your "epistemic bubble," from Nate Silver to Elon Musk, grew specifically around the narrative of the absence of fire.
Blaming the people who pulled the fire alarm for making it loud is one hell of a take.
The Supreme Court won't hear a contest to overturn the Gay Marriage decision, once again proving that leftists who panic over a theocracy being instituted by the religious right are overreacting.
Couple that with the democrats admitting their opposition to Trump for purposes of keeping the government shut down was a selfish political stunt, and it's more proof that if there's anyone who doesn't deserve to govern, it's the postmodern left.
Is there a way forward for leftists? They only know how to double down on self-righteousness and fearmongering, and it seems to me like our politics will stay in this culture war territory for the foreseeable future.
