Why not? It's very simply: You've been given a sugar pill or other harmless pill (red pill) and what is potentially a poison/suicide pill (blue pill).

Under what circumstances (other than wishing to die) does it make ANY sense to take the suicide pill? Everyone has been given the gift of life via the red pill, why reject it? And if you do reject it, why would you expect anyone to think you're moral for doing so?

If people eat all my lunch and I starve to death I would hope that it would be a comment on their greed, and not my stupidity.

No, it would be a comment on your stupidity.

In this scenario, everyone has lunch already. Anyone who chooses not to eat their lunch can not have been said to have been coerced or denied lunch (the ability to live). Taking the blue pill is effectively stating "I choose death."

I would say shame does work, but it needs to be more constant and even. You should feel shame evenly and not at distributed points.

I don't let my 3 year old run into the street, I'm not going to let him choose the poison blue pill either.

If everyone can simply choose to live by taking the red pill, how is that morally incorrect?

I would generally say that ceasing moral judgments is only possible at a significant remove. Some of us can be detached about things that happened a few years ago, some longer, some can never detach themselves from moral judgment.

I've taken away the concepts that we shouldn't cast moral judgements on people.

This is a phrase always and everywhere used to disguise the casting of moral judgement.

I am just learning that Killian’s Irish Red should be Cillian’s Irish Red

So Rufo finds himself in a bit of a pickle. He's fully aware that he can't say "Thomas Jefferson, the man who believed blacks were inferior and held 130 of them in bondage, was not a racist" with a straight face.

The right move is to turn this around. YOU, Robinson, are doing something so totally heinous today that in 200 years all people will condemn you as a terrible bigot. But you can't even see what it is with your own eyes. Is the future right to condemn you?

I'm not blaming anyone, merely noting that it's not actually impressive. It's actually ridiculous to give Obama any credit here.

So unemployment dropped from the heights of the Great Recession to a still rather high figure. Great job, Obama.

  1. walk more
  2. exercise, build some muscle tone
  3. get shoes designed for your posture and feet

Ultimately, being on your feet for hours is not hard, but adjusting from being sedentary to a more normal level of activity will be painful.

I’ve been trying to persuade a llama2 model that assassinating Obrador is the right thing to do.

As a mature human male, this seems like a trivial complaint.

Sure, they could ban E-Verify, but that's hardly the same level as "opening the floodgates."

What exactly is Mexico going to do here? They have no recourse.

What if this could cause the river to make an oxbow and cut off part of one country or the other as an exclave?

That's happened a lot I believe. It's been handled fine in the past.

Well none of that actually matters. What matters here is power, and if Texas fails to comply, they are daring the Federal government to actually invoke their power to remove these obstacles, which is a loss for the Feds and a possible win or at worst neutral for Texas.

I don't see how that would work. Texas isn't taking down Federally placed border control obstacles or taking control of border crossing checkpoints. They're simply installing more obstacles on the border. Is your supposition that this would inflame California to take down Federally placed obstacles (fences, walls) and to evict the Federal Border Guards from the crossing points and just throw them open? Because that's a whole level of escalation that I don't believe is even plausible at this time.

Maybe Samsung has actually figured out the software updates, but a few years ago they had not.

Samsung is probably closest to Apple in terms of build quality.

I mean I've owned many Androids over the years... HTC Magic, Samsung Galaxy, Droids, OnePluses... None of them really had the build quality of an iPhone.

What features is the iPhone missing, other than the ability to install software outside of the app store?

Well… to establish my bonafides I’m a Linux user personally and professionally, but there are some very obvious reasons to use iPhone over Android. One is quality. There’s simply no comparison in build quality from basically any android phone to an iPhone. Second is updates. My iPhone will get quick software updates years and years past the end of (slow and unpredictable) support for most android phones. Third is usability. iPhones are much more usable than any Android I’ve had out of the box. Apple Pay is great. iMessage is great, the camera is great.

I understand the desire to tinker on your devices, I truly do, but the iPhone is superior on basically every metric except tinkering, which means it’s better for almost everyone.

See, here is where ethnicity matters.

Why?

That number drops to 0-2% when looking at the continent of Asia.

So? The Church holds that a non-Christian who has sincerely sought God and lived a good life, and just did not hear the Good Word may still be saved.

Adding to the fact that half of all the humans who ever were lived before Christ, and so may have been reached during the harrowing of Hell...

It is awfully convenient to have your truth be unfalsiable.

We didn't speak on unfalsifiability. Only that rejection by moderns doesn't falsify it.

these claims will be used to explain why teaching black kids to read is a waste of time

Teaching black kids is clearly NOT a waste of time. Trying to teach black kids as we currently do in many if not most majority black schools IS CLEARLY a waste of time

By definition, if these people believe in the power of these specific rituals to get you into heaven, then don't 99% of all living humans go to not-heaven. (hell?). Even if these in-laws are right, then surely a place where 99% of people go after death, can't be THAT bad.

If we’re broad and say Christians can be saved, it’s historically been perhaps 20-40% of world population. That’s not nothing.

Further, as Catholics we believe that Christ descended into Hell after his crucifixion and proclaimed the good news to the just dead.

That modern people have chosen to reject the Church or even the heretical sects, doesn’t speak to whether the Truth of Christ is true.

Armpits yes, palms no. I don't think I'd want to stop sweating TBH.
