Maybe.
But reddit wasn't like this pre-2014(?). Early in it's life it was much more pro-free speech. Something happened. My guess is words were exchanged in the board room when they realized they couldn't monetize users the way things were going.

Not a specific source, but I believe this opinion is widely held and discussed often on Hacker News.
That goes against everything I've read about veganism. Do you know any vegans who don't supplement B12?

Eating is inexorably intertwined with health, so you shouldn't brush aside those concerns so easily. I don't think humanity knows enough about the science of nutrition to be as sure as your vegan friends are. I'd be interested in reading their sources, if you could share, but the whole field of nutrition is still in its infancy. There are enough cases where eating something increases or decreases the absorption of something else. And out of the quintillions of configurations of molecules that exist in our food, I'm skeptical that we've identified the few dozen micro- and macro-nutrients that are essential for life. Babies and children are in a real fight to develop and gain weight and size, and it's a mistake to toy with any diet other than the one that is most likely to give them the most nutrition the easiest.
(Also, vegan diets are quite new. They were impossible until 50 years ago, as there were no non-animal sources of vitamin B12.)
AEO was just a symptom of the underlying cause: advertising. Every unpopular thing reddit did, from the site redesign, to pushing people to the app as hard as they could, to sanitizing with AEO was done in the service of making vanilla content they can use to sell eyeballs to advertisers. Advertising corrupts everything it touches.

Image embeds are a terrible idea for the culture we're trying to inculcate. It will invariably be used for low-effort meming. Links to images are fine if you need a visual aid to explain an idea.
@ZorbaTHut: Thank you so much for putting in the effort to make this site! The effort looks Herculean. I admit I was a little skeptical when I read months ago what you were building, but it looks like it all came together swimmingly.
When you feel like it's safe to do so, I and I'm sure many others would love to hear more explicitly the inside baseball about what happened behind the scenes between you and the reddit jannies.
