My takeaway is that he would have gotten away with it if he had the restraint to not go around confessing to murder. Probably would have helped to not steal from the house after it's a murder scene rather than a robbery, but it sounds like no one would have bothered to look in his trunk if he just shut up about it. The implications are discomfiting.

Yea, the incentive structure of birthright citizenship is insane. Unfortunately, the other end of the spectrum is a permanent generation-on-generation underclass of non-citizens like Turkish and Arab immigrant communities in Germany. Seems a difficult needle to thread.

People making closed-source software that requires connecting to their server (rather than yours or one you choose) hate you and hold you in contempt. Minimize your contact with these parasites as much as possible because they will always eventually try to fuck you. I've gone through that same process with my Matrix/Element chat app and it works a lot better than what you're describing.

Containing viruses is hard. I'd consider a lab leak to be within the normal range of human screw ups. In light of that fact, everybody up and down the chain of command who thought it was a good idea to do gain-of-function research on coronaviruses should be tried on 10 million counts of manslaughter.

You say this as if it's not true. I thought it was common knowledge amongst the people who cared enough to look into it. In 2017, Trump lifted Obama's ban on gain of function research, and subsequently the NIH funded gain of function research on coronaviruses at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

I have similar experiences, but the LLMs will correct their correct answer to be incorrect. I now just view the whole project as useful for creative idea generation, but any claims on the real world need to be fact checked. No lab seems to be able to get these things to stop confabulating, and I'm astonished people trust them as much as they seem to.

This business about the three branches being "co-equal" has always rubbed me the wrong way. It doesn't appear in the constitution. Congress has the power to set the president's salary and to fire him. But not vice-versa. It sure sounds like Congress is the boss. To boot, Congress is set up first in the constitution, in Article 1, whereas the president second in Article 2.

I had two jobs in the 90s that I got W-2s for and paid taxes on that don’t show up on my SSA work history. I’m currently in the process of trying to prove I worked these jobs for the SS benefits when all the paperwork has long since been shredded. Totally plausible to me that she worked there and can’t prove it.

Nah, Red Pill stuff is a great antidote to the lies that everywhere else in culture is pushing: that women are wonderful and to put the pussy on a pedestal. It’s helpful for a class of guys who can’t figure out why being nice doesn’t get them a date or get them laid. The criticism I’d level against it is that the skills that get you laid are practically unrelated to the skills necessary to maintain relationships and build families. But you have to crawl before you run.
