If you read The Idea Factory with a somewhat critical eye you can easily see why Bell labs isn't happening now, and can't happen in the near future. Sure, some of their best guys went to MIT, but that was when you got into MIT by like taking a train there then passing an entrance exam. None of this extra-curricular and AP maxxing nonsense. But many of the main figures also just were like paperboys who were the small town genius and went to a random engineering school nearby. At some point, however, determining actual merit, talent, and skill became unfashionable for academics and hiring managers so they outsourced to boring metrics and racial adjustments.

As with many situations, the internet culture has fallen into a problem that the real world solved long ago, but also much of the real world has forgotten the solution. #1 Is sex segregated spaces. #2 Is regulated (by custom) violence.
Locker room cultures do exist, they aren't exactly like yours described (you forgot to include the white knight). What actually happens is if Kenneth steps over the line and talks shit about someone on the team's sister, mom, girlfriend (sometimes including exes), or a generally respected woman, he gets his ass beat. Doug is sometimes, but not always a sort of moderator of this. Doug is not the team captain, but must be trusted by the captain or captains. If they get pissed Doug either talks them off the ledge or says, yeah, go get Kenneth. But then there is also white knight Charlie who always argues with Doug and Kenneth and says all the girls aren't hoes and sluts (even when they are) cus he's low status and wants to get with the hoes and sluts without losing his social status. And from time to time Charlies gets the piss beat out of him too for being too much of a simp. And thus the group is maintained.

This strikes me as an odd theory based on the fact that married folks with kids remain the core of the Republican coalition.
The reality is position 2 is a compromise position because you go to the war with the army you have. And the army of married folks are very nice people who are uncomfortable letting toddlers and homeless people die in the streets to save 5% of GDP or whatever the numbers bear out to be. The married people also have been paying social security and medicare all their adult lives at this point and want that security they were "promised". Thus, entitlement reform is a losing issue. Not with me, presumably me and you could win tens of thousands of votes nationwide campaigning on a platform of eliminating Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, LINK, and all the other poverty-reduction programs. But that doesn't work for a party that wants to have presidents and congressional majorities.
So what do you do? You target the unsympathetic leeches like single guys age 29 playing lots of COD, because those are the cuts you CAN make. The alternative is you lose handily, the cuts you made are reversed, more foreigners are added to the roster, and they lop off a lot of penises and breasts of confused 15 year olds.

You have podcasts, YouTubers, tv news networks, radio, websites, substacks, etc. and they are generally agreed on what they support, or at least who they support. They have a mutual respect and understanding that you don’t attack other conservatives unless they’re going too far to the left. The Left has individuals with TV, radio, or podcasts, but they really don’t support each other. Raechel Maddow doesn’t tell the same story as Ezra Klein who doesn’t tell the same story as Thom Hartmann.
This is false. Democrats control most major media outlets. Your have to intentionally seek out conservative podcasts or other. If you just watch a football or basketball game, the news that follows will be massively left of center.

It's worth noting that Kagan, though she agreed on heightened scrutiny, declined to join the Court's low-IQ wing to assert that also the law failed under heightened scrutiny. Once again she shows herself to be, by a wide margin, the most competent jurist on the Court's left wing.
I will just chime in to agree with this 100%. Kagan is the smart left of center justice and it is not close. I think she might actually be the smartest justice right now. Gorsuch being younger has an argument and Alito being more concise also does. It is certainly those 3 though.

Whomever they nominate, it'll either annoy their base, or it'll alienate the median voter.
Does that even matter though? Harris still cackled her way to 75 million votes. Given her complete lack of appeal, that appears to be a floor as to what their organizers can gin up through harvesting, bussing, etc. And its enough for the party to maintain 40+ seats in the Senate basically in perpetuity.

In the sense that its basically impossible to do more abortions than write prescriptions for birth control and penicillin, I guess this is true. But PP's own behavior in which clinics it has closed over time indicates that they don't particularly care about providing those services, or that the clinics cannot justify their own existence without providing the profitable abortions for which those services are merely a smokescreen.

Gorsuch signed onto it, so I guess he must agree? Or maybe he didn't want a bunch of circuit court misreadings if this case ended up in a 4/1/1-3 mixed-majority. But the reasoning here's vague enough that red circuits can draw every other transgender case that isn't specifically a CRA thing (and maybe even some that are) as about Skrmmeti-like distinctions, and blue circuits can draw every other transgender case as more like Bostock.
People often forget SCOTUS justices are politicians. Gorsuch wrote Bostock when he was in a DC swamp that was overwhelmingly trans-triumphalist. He almost certainly thought he was HELPING by making it less of an issue. A few years later and its now basically mainstream thought that trans treatments for teens is the modern day lobotomy. He would not write Bostock again.

Condoms are not used correctly, in practice, is my understanding of their failure rate. Contra @alexander_turok's assertions in the OP, condoms are, actually, the low class birth control option. If you aren't willing to go raw with a man you shouldn't even be pondering sex with them. And condoms are easy to sabotage both intentionally (hole pokes being most common) and inadvertently (heat, cold, old age, abrasion). Also, apparently there are application problems that are common specifically regarding looseness and tightness of fit which are vague memories I have from sophomore age sex ed.
So yeah, its birth control for dumb, untrustworthy, probably intoxicated people. Of course it doesnt work well.

I wouldn't be above 10% predicting any of those things, all of them combined I'd be under 5%.
Democrats just resoundingly demonstrated they have an incredibly high floor. Harris-Walz got 75million votes. On those non-existent (probably negative) coat tails they were just -4 in the senate with a very tough map given the Montana and WV retirements, while actually receiving more total votes for their candidates, and actually gained 2 house seats. They also managed to hold steady in governorships, even with the crazy North Carolina guy somehow holding on in a reddish state.
They don't need popular policies or politicians. Those are outdated. They have vote-harvesting operations, which is what matters.

Illegal immigrants aren't supposed to vote. That doesn't mean they do not. Many states give them DLs and auto-register everyone with a DL. In addition, many jurisdictions dont actually check ID (as in photo ID or any other) when people vote, particularly by mail.

So I just had a delivery guy brazenly steal the delivery ON CAMERA. The camera is not subtle. It points directly at the place she took her "Proof of Delivery" photo. And she just kinda put it down then looked around and picked it back up.

That's more direct quotes than I intended to use, but the point is that I was really struck by the article's framing. Yes, the law has been used to "kick out Nazis," though it was originally intended to kick out Communists. But it has also been used to kick out e.g. scammers and child pornographers. Basically, the weight of history and legal precedent is that naturalized citizens absolutely can be denaturalized and expelled from the country for a variety of reasons, substantially at the discretion of the executive.
Indeed. There was actually a fairly large media case the other day over this exact issue. A 20-something naturalized Palestinian what caught with a large cache of child pornography, much of it depicting pre-pubescent girls, the youngest estimated to be 3. He also had multiple discords, one of which he used to communicate with other pervs about his desire to penetrate 12 year olds, and on the other he fantasized about Hamas killing Jews. Seems like a good candidate for this process, but there was a large cadre who came to court in support of him. Apparently, many quietly left as they are made aware that the charges were for CP.

I think this is just your brain on the system. The system says you should graduate high school at approximately 18 years of age, then spend 4 years getting drunk and sometimes doing coursework, then go out into the workplace.
This system "works" because it is highly subsidized, and pleased the clients. Those being the 18-22 year olds who get to party, the professors who get to be paid to be lecherous, and the companies who get to externalize some of the costs of on the job training.
The rest of society loses.
But also the losers are the talented who should be done with all this silly fake education at age 16, but instead are subjected to an environment of drugs and booze when they get to campus.

The interpretation that you can provide money to an abortion provider without that being considered funding abortions. This is controversial because every intelligent person knows money is fungible, and if medicaid gives PP $10000 for providing strep throat screenings, that money helps keep the abortion mill facility open.

Money is fungible. Things like rent, electricity, staffing, etc are all shared. They cannot be separated. You can't provide money to PP without funding abortion. If you wanted to, you could spin off the abortion wing, call it Banned Parenthood, make sure there is no staffing overlap, and charge them market rates for rent and facilities, maybe you'd have a decent argument.

Well, this has happened to us once before, so using these two (which are similar) incidents, I don't think these food delivery people are just stealing all the food. From what I can tell, in both instances it was the last delivery of the day and they just had reached a breaking point where they wanted food. There was food. And this seemed like a way to get free food at that time. Both times it has happened to me were around 9:00 PM which is about the end of these apps delivery windows. Both times were also on Fridays.
So these people are generally okay employees most of the week (I suspect). And what they do is if at the end of their shift they think they can get away with something, they try it. And they do get away with it mostly because despite the prevalence of ring cameras, most people are too lazy to follow up and the companies can't really fire them for stealing 1/50 orders a week because the pool of replacement labor is even worse. She will probably eventually be fired if this is a pattern. But she will just move to a different delivery app at that point.
This, I don't think is confusing at all. Shes advocating for feminism with only the benefits. It is a common occurrence. Its not outside the realm of fantasy. Imagine a world where men could just point at a woman and say "I want" and she has to have sex with him 7 days a week and bear him 15 children. That is the reality that many think used to exist. It never did, of course, which is why the counter to it is so deranged, but here we are.
