So you mean like very public proud Catholics who are denied communion over publicly disagreeing with core Church teachings and actively working against those same?

They have around 4x the population of Ukraine, for Russia to run out of manpower before Ukraine they would need to have a more than 4:1 loss ratio. I don't think even the Ukrainians are claiming that and they're been claiming absolutely absurd things the whole time.

The Ukrainian government has not generally reported losses but in December 2022 estimated 13k lost. Meanwhile the UK MoD figure for Russian casualty estimates from December 1st 2022 was 89k. If you were to accept their claims then by those loss ratios they could. Which isn't to say the claims are close to accurate but that it is not more absurd if taking those absurd claims as true to believe (or that they could claim) that they would win by attrition.

Edward VIII, abdicated King, Duke of Windsor wasn't a Windsor. Well at least this time your attempt was better so points for that.

But I've seen all kinds of advertisements for buy-now-pay-later and other kinds of financing on furniture, clothing, even food.

Patrick McKenzie (tpot adjacent finance tech guy @patio11) had a pretty good Bits About Money on BNPL almost a year ago. They're not quite as insidious as you would think.

For WEIRD points, I pay for basically everything via credit (gaining reward points and risk protection less available by other means) but zero out the balance every month. As pointed out by the survey I'd be one of those who would "struggle" since I'd pay it by card despite having more than a reasonable amount of liquid wealth. I should probably park more of it in less liquid investments.

(A ⇒ B) ⇏ (¬A ⇒ ¬B). Try again.

It is an attack, an awkward one at that, but fully deserved. Grammatical gender is a dumb feature and I will fight the whole of the world West of the Urals and South of the Himalayas on that point. At least English somehow managed to have some positive changes to it during the middle period even with the Normans doing their best to make things worse.

Satanic as a term well predates anything associated with LaVey or Crowley. If your memeplex well is so thoroughly poisoned just read it as diabolic instead.

The rare miss. People forget about Maurice Freeland.

The guy with the 1986 amnesty for 2.7m undocumented immigrants? Who as Governor signed the first No Fault Divorce law in the US? Traded the Hughes Amendment for the toothless FOPA? That guy is one of the greats?

Try looking at actual numbers, not just the first graphic from a web search. Active duty numbers are published yearly and it's public information, and if you're not poor statista will compile that into more parse-able charts. There is a noticeable drop from a local peak in 2010 to 2016 but that has halfway recovered since. Keeping in mind that in raw numbers it's a drop on the order of 100,000 members, with a recovery on the order of 40,000 and that in per capita terms that is a continuing decline.

And what's more British than fighting the Nazis, really?

You don't mean to imply that the House of Saxe-Coburg and GothaWindsor isn't British do you?

Given how over gassed the Tavors and Galils are, they're not above gassing themselves either. /s

wanting a stock Viper is not part of the Second Amendment

Given the historical tradition of private ships and cannon, what excludes a zero down, 25% APY Viper loaded up with some cute girls for a weekend? Not financially prudent but that's not constitutionally relevant.

Absolutely. See his radio interview that was also attacked by the foreign policy establishment and got a lot of negative press. Defend Taiwan for strategic reasons related to chips, once they are no longer the bottleneck they can go back to dealing with the cold civil war on their own and notionally the PRC would have less strategic reasons to invade once the US was no longer dependent on Taiwan.

Do you mean tradition or Tradition? Actual meaningful difference for this context.

There's a particular image floating around of a car seat with a blood stain where the head would rest and next to it an infant dress with blood along the top half. And this news report. Of course Journalist reliability and the reliability of their sources is always a factor.

Source on what aspect? I was noting that characterizing francafrique as French (Neo)Imperial maintenance is not outside the overton window and that French armed forces do deploy regularly both to "provide security" to French aligned regimes and "peace keeping" in the less French aligned areas. Someone who might use the term Empire to describe the actions/area might use different terms than the quoted ones I used. I'm not aware of the French proactively reducing their footprint so much as being forced to given civil conflicts and anti-French attitudes of newer regimes.

Simply excluding peninsular people narrows things well enough doesn't it?

Enough of Bruen will be carved out to allow all of the NFA to stand. Except on abortion, that's how the Roberts court works; make apparently major decisions which change nothing.

Granting cert in US v Rahimi looks all downside on that front especially given the facts of the case and the plaintiff. And that's not even getting close to the NFA section of 18 USC 922.

Having spent time in the single A development space as well as contracting for TLAs, I would rate the average skillset of the technical staff making low budget licensed games and mobile skinner boxes above the people who have to leave their cellphones in a cubby before going into the office. Averages in both cases get brought down when you include artists or systems engineers. Meanwhile isn't there a meme in Hollywood about a desperate need for gaffers who know how to actually light sets and audio engineers who can make speech audible?

Seems like you should probably look to Scott v Sandford for some contextual clarity for the time about laws restricting rights as applied to people who may not have been considered entitled to them. The actual decision is in the national archives and should be read not summaries or opinion pieces.

That used to be a tactic of the OG natsoc's where they specifically tailored their clothes, put the fitter, taller more attractive men in the front of their parade/protest groups and when producing video of events like rallies used some camera tricks and staging to keep putting the hero prop level attendees in view with the more typical extras in the back out of focus.

Haven't you heard, the new meme animal is the Lemur, the one who lurks.

Which problem? Base rate for commercial near misses is pretty well established and over the past several years there has been an increase. Or are you suggesting that the imaginary problem is hiring and promotion decisions privileging diversity qualifications over meritocratic qualifications?

Outside of hyper contractualist ancapistan where things like rights to a view are priced, sold and bundled as contracts and liens attached to properties, the local council being the community consensus decision making group for balancing overlapping property interests seems reasonable. Local governments can be wildly corrupt and not follow their own rules (see #barnlaw) but the principle is quite sane.
