Once upon a time I was a Republican and then I went to college and turned into the leftist liberal progressive Democrat that hid under your bed and no I was not a man and yes I was addicted to downvotes, every time I got one it was like a bump of that sweet smoking gun. Also I did 99% of this on mobile in my bathtub, so if I didn't respond to someone it’s because my screen was too tiny to read everything before I got out of the bath. I'm not active on this site anymore because the current mod team is not being consistent in enforcement when it comes to moderation and it's causing a brain drain which isn't making it fun to debate here anymore, so I'm voting with my proverbial wallet.

Switching from folding my laundry at home to folding my laundry at the laundromat has so far been a 10/10 experience for me in terms of getting the laundry fully done. Also, I really enjoy the aesthetic of nicely folded laundry in the basket when I pack it all up instead of the usual pile. The only drawback is all of the TVs are set to sports and I don’t know any of the rules of the common ones.

Additionally, I have now handwritten written up to 9 chapters of my personal story on regular looseleaf line paper going at a total of eyeballing 150+ pages. Unfortunately the story got longer, so I’m still on the rising action. I’m at a bit of a drag in the story so I’ve gotten into the hobby of testing out the hundred or so pens in my boyfriend’s pencil case every two pages. My findings so far are;

Sharpie S.Gel: 3/10 my boyfriend says at a glance it makes the most legible and aesthetic writing, but it’s a drag in terms of speed so I rank it the lowest tbh.

Pentel Wow! BK440: 3/10 it wrote pretty fast but the ink is faded and it’s pretty shitty in terms of comfort so it’s #2.

Uniball Signon207: 2/10 it has nicer ink than the BK440 the but writes almost as slow as the S. Gel which is a pain and is pretty thin in terms of linework.

Uniball Vision Elite: 4/10 it’s slow but can pick up speed if you find the right rhythm but super heavy on the ink so it’s satisfying.

Pentel EnergGel 0.7mm metal tip: 5/10 my current speedster and to-go, it has the dark ink of the Uniball and the fastest speed with a rubber grip that’s on another level. It takes me places.

Pilot Dr. Grip Gel: 5.5/10: love her. The gel grip is the best out of all of them, which is why it’s above the Pentel, but it’s just a little slower it. It makes up for in a nice dark thinnish line. I’m waiting to find something with comfort of the Dr. Grip and the speed of the Pentel.

Bic Round Stic M: 3/10 it’s fast but it sucks to hold it bites into my finger especially when the speed picks up.

Bic Soft Feel Med: 2/10 they added a grip to it and somehow made it worse and slower.

I would like to clarify pretty, like, hard that the very worst opinion of mine of peoples’ opinions on this site of which I have changed my mind to continue posting on is “ignorant” or “hypocritical” because I personally subscribe to the Plato approach to the concept ignorance which is it being the root of all evil therefore I literally can’t use “scum” or “villany” in addition to not believing anyone here is very malicious in their intents; additional evidence being I have never typed said words save now (//∇//)\

I think that if Russia takes Ukraine, the entire country will look like the Bucha massacre. Matters of corruption will not be possible because the country will be massacred; it is literally a matter of survival to them. To allow Russia to take Ukraine is to condemn its citizens to Bucha; therefore, arguments that have implications of reducing aid to Ukraine lead to only one result; Bucha.

So I think that securing Ukraine from total annihilation must be completed before we even think about petty little things like corruption. No, I don’t think you are a Russian propagandist for thinking Ukraine is corrupt. I think you’d be a propagandist if you think because it’s corrupt it deserves Bucha, which is what will happen if Russia takes the territory.

The Bucha massacre was the mass murder of Ukrainian civilians and prisoners of war by the Russian Armed Forces during the fight for and occupation of the city of Bucha, compounded by the complete denial of the Russian government. I remember seeing the videos and footage of Bucha as it was happening real time. You should take the time to read the article on Wikipedia and listen to the account of the fourteen year old from Bucha who was raped by Russian soliders. Bucha is one of the primary reasons Zelenskyy wants the territories Russia has taken back because Bucha is happening to them right now and why he is fighting so hard to stop the entire country from becoming Bucha.

I am particularly moved by the Bucha massacre because the Russian propaganda line that that Ukraine faked footage of the event or staged the killings itself as a false flag operation and that the footage and photographs of dead bodies were a "staged performance” is being peddled by my own country, and worse, my own country’s citizens and politicians. After the Katyn massacre, whose biggest problem was Russia’s systematic denial of it until recent times, I struggle with seeing the same thing being repeated and then propagated by the very people against it. I feel like I’m watching the Katyn massacre all over again.

I see disinformation as a bad thing. If people don’t care about the Bucha massacre, that’s one thing, but to deny it happened at all is an appalling level of intellectual dishonesty to me.

I don’t take satisfaction because the fact that I’m getting reported so much is a dismal sign for the purpose of this site and tells me a lot of people aren’t listening to what I’m saying. It seems like I’m getting reported for having an opinion people don’t like, not for breaking the rules. But like I said, the moderation here is not for me. I have been hasty in my judgement on Ukraine due to my sensitivity to the Bucha massacre, and there do seem to be a handful of people who aren’t breaking the rules when interacting with me, but mostly my hastiness was unwarranted and therefore my reason to leave is unwarranted. All this to say I have changed my mind.

It’s ironic that I feel I have done a deliberate job of attempting to not be snarky with the belief the mods have eagle eyes on my behavior since all the reporting happens, but it’s not my call to say if I’m snarky or not, just ironic that I deliberately try not to and fail.

I wish you would have begun with your last sentence, because it was touching and moved me. I think you are right that I haven’t been fair about the Ukraine topic; the Bucha massacre moves me deeply, apparently enough to push me out of my wise mind.

I’m trying to be polite towards the efforts to respond to my initial post and attempts to change my mind without adding more to the Culture War thread. I didn’t even know there was a reporting option, much less that it would be taken seriously. It’s surprising to me you want me to stay, and it makes me reconsider some of my stances.

I don’t have faith that my reporting is going to be met in good faith. I have a history of comments calling me trans, insulting my intellect over my gender, and general potshots at me being unserious, a troll, someone who just hates conservatives and doesn’t want to listen to other arguments, straight up mocking at my lack of knowledge despite the rules literally saying “leave the rest of the Internet at the door”. Where is the moderation there? And for a site full of people claiming they want to debate, why is there a constant stream of rule-breaking not-debating happening aimed at me?

No, I can’t. Calling you unserious is an insult to your character, which is against the site rules. Arguing about what I’m insulting, or how insulting it is, is also against the rules. Consistent rulemaking protects all of us; otherwise it starts slipping from “no insults” to “no acrimonious insults” to “well I think your argument was unserious even though I didn’t say “your argument is unserious” I said “you’re unserious” and you should have known what I meant” to “fuck it, open fire free-for-all”. Which is also why the rules are “speak plainly”. You think it’s small potatoes, I think it’s a further indication that the moderation on this site is not for me.

So, if someone makes an argument that you personally think is not valuable, it’s okay to insult them? Can I start calling you unserious for claiming to want to debate and discuss while undermining the entire ethos of the site and driving away the very people you want to argue with with low-effort pot shots? No. Because that’s against the rules, and I would be rightly moderated.

In the context of “what to do about the Russian invasion”, Ukraine’s status has absolutely no relevance. Bringing it up is either regurgitating Russian propaganda, or revealing a belief that you think nations should invade other nations if they think they’re too corrupt.

Ukrianian corruption has no relevance in the context of the Russian invasion. Ukraine could be a hellhole, and it still doesn’t deserve to be invaded. Bringing up “Ukrainian corruption” is repeating Russian propaganda in an attempt to justify the invasion.

Huh? I’m confused.

This is the second reason why I am quitting the Motte. I am so bored of low-effort insults at my character instead of dealing with the subject of my arguments, which is directly against the rules on the sidebar. Constantly having it done with very little moderation shows me this place is not for debate, it’s to dunk on leftists. I’ve said the moderation here is not for me, and it really is.

No. Saying that Ukraine deserves to be invaded and the massacre at Bucha was warranted because they didn’t have an election during wartime where parts of the country can’t vote because they are occupied by Russia is Russian propaganda.

Yes. “Ukrainian corruption” is a dog whistle for Russian propaganda.

No, I don’t like hearing obvious Russian propaganda talking points. I agree it’s been a topic discussed before, but there’s talking about the Ukraine war and there’s regurgitating Russian propaganda and I think the latter is happening and it is just a huge intellectual turn-off for me. I don’t think you can have discussions about it; it’s like debating at a geography debate club and suddenly the topic changed from the relevance of tectonic shifts to if the Earth is flat. Even if the conversation changes topic, the shock is still resounding for me.

Contrapoints and PhilosophyTube are great places to start.

I read the Harry Potter fanfiction, I looked up the author and got to LessWrong, I read a lot of LessWrong, found Scott Alexander who mentioned Jordan Peterson. Looked up Jordan Peterson and found RationalWiki. RationalWiki led to SneerClub, which led to the Motte on reddit, and then I followed the Motte off reddit. Motte and Bailey, Bayesian and Embryo selection are the only three I know.

I wish I could carry on like that, but for me, it's like a bunch of people in the geography debate club became flat earthers overnight. I just can't get the taste out of my mouth.

That's not my problem. My problem is I think Russian propaganda is a pretty boring topic to debate about and I can't take it seriously. I don't know how else to say it without accidentally coasting into "boo outgroup" territory.

Your perception is so wrong it's a bit comical, pardon me saying. I don't participate on other debate forums and I certainly have never typed that sentence anywhere on the internet.

I read that famous Harry Potter fanfiction by Yud and slippery sloped all the way here.

Ahh, thank you for the clarification.
