Once upon a time I was a Republican and then I went to college and turned into the leftist liberal progressive Democrat that hides under your bed and no I am not a man and yes I’m addicted to downvotes, every time I get one it’s like a bump of that sweet smoking gun. Also I do 99% of this on mobile in my bathtub, so if I don’t respond to you it’s because my screen was too tiny to read everything before I got out of the bath.

I have no idea what Ethiopia, Realpolitik and Wilsonian's views are, sorry lol.

Well, see, Russian propaganda at it's core is just straight up lies, in my opinion, and that's just not fun to argue with. There's no winning to be had, alas.

My reaction is the total opposite of yours. I don’t find it interesting; actually I find it quite boring, and I’m afraid all I’ve got left in the tank is disregard.

I really appreciate you informing me of this. Pardon the newb, but what is an LLM? And how would I execute the javascript?

In my perspective there’s a lot of Russian propaganda talking points popping up in the Culture War chat and it’s kinda made the whole thing boring for me now. I’d like to keep my personal syntax on the internet down to sites I actively use.

Hello! How do I go about deleting my account and everything I ever posted? Is that possible? I’m done with the Motte and want to wipe my account.

Edit; after further conversation, I’ve changed my mind and I’m, in fact, not done with the Motte.

I had the same thing. I got COVID three times, and by the end of all of that my stamina was at an all time nonexistent.

Elon Musk’s biography. Honestly, the first page elicited a ton of pity from me for the poor guy. His insane behavior is quite easy to understand when you learn he was beaten by other boys in school as a pecking rank thing to the point his nose broke and his asshole father condoned all of it.

No, I don’t spend time on reactionary Twitter lol.

I bring up my infertility not because I want your sympathy but because when you’re talking about women raising surrogate babies you’re talking about me, and there’s this rule where you have write like everyone is reading and you want them to be included in the discussion.

Huh? What Handmaiden’s Tale talk has there been where?

I’m not exactly bothered by it and I like the idea of having children related to me.

Say it again, that made me tickle.

I am not saying that, I’m saying statements such as “the relationship between a mother and her child is one of the most ancient and holy things that we as humans do” are not by default true, because there are atheist mothers who do not believe in the concept of holiness”. The rest of your argument is not considered in my initial reply; I was focusing on that specific part.

I appreciate your sympathy, but I will not appreciate the sentiment that it “is what it is” and one of my options is a moral stain on society and I should go to jail or something. The sentiment of this “sanctity” between a birth mother and child is completely lost on me. My mother gave birth to me, I suckled on her breasts and came out of her womb blah, blah, blah, and there was not a single maternal aspect about her and no amount of biological relation did anything to help that or my proceeding siblings; if anything, I had a better shot of being raised not like a dog with literally anyone else. And observing this pattern repeatedly among my friends and even my boyfriend makes the notion of biological motherhood being superior above all else a joke to me. I’ve seen enough mothers give birth to children they have as much maternal attachment to as a toddler does to their toy to be rid of the notion there’s something special made between a biological mother and her children that can’t be replicated in any other parenting situation.

I feel like just saying “atheists are wrong, God exists” isn’t much of an argument for anyone who isn’t religious, and I’m failing to find the connection between legalizing child sex and…the existence of atheist mothers?

stands awkwardly in infertility

Ancient and holy things? What about atheist mothers? That’s not true for them then, so your assertion “it’s true” is false.

Oh definitely.

Aside from the internet werewolf terminology I agree. Ya'll were boyfriends and girlfriends before ya'll were spouses and before that ya'll were friends and before that ya'll were friendly acquittances and before that when God said let there be light ya'll were strangers trying to impress eachother. A marriage is just a continuation of the relationship with a different name now.

I have been on an SSRI for two years to treat my dysthymia, which I’ve had my entire life. It took six months for the SSRIs to fully get into my system at the right dose. They have been incredibly successful for me; they have turned the mountains into hills, and through a combination of medicine and therapy I’m on the road to winding it down this year and getting off of because I’m seeing the results me and my doctor were looking for. I did get fat, but getting fat is worth it lol, plus when I get off of them I’ll go back to normal.

Imo, mental health should be treated the same as physical health. If you had a headache, you could go without painkillers and try to tough it out on your own, but you could also save yourself a lot of time and energy by taking a painkiller in the meantime while you’re trying to sort out the cause of the headache. SSRIs are the same, but I would not start them without clearly defined health goals so you know when to stop them. You are not going to lose yourself in them lol, you have to gradually build it up and will have plenty of time to adjust to any mental changes.

The only drawback for me so far other than getting fat is you can’t miss a dose or your brain will start to glitch out with vertigo and things Will Not Feel Good, but Idk, people with migraines carry around pain meds, the diabetics have insulin, and the sad have their SSRI. At least one of the three is curable.

Can you show me evidence that previous Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal did those things? Because I can show you evidence that Musk did all of those things. And what do you mean, exactly, by "progressives got so used to total control of speech"? Who are the progressives, what are the parameters of total control, and by speech are you including verbal?

I don't know if it's "the left's" messaging. I've seen plenty of folks online get fired from the National Park service, for example, which as far as I know is a fairly bi-partisan group of folks.

We're not going to agree about Twitter. Twitter was THE global platform, once such a vital and reliable source of communication health and safety departments of various countries relied on it; now the bar is set to "still online", since Musk's suspension of journalists' accounts, measures like labeling media outlets as "state-affiliated" and restricting their visibility, viral misinformation, hate speech, and antisemitism, statements without evidence such as that Community Notes "is increasingly being gamed by governments & legacy media" thus he is going to "fix" Community Notes, has completely driven out everyone but reactionary conservatives. Hardly a win in my book.

Absolutely none of this is surprising to me whatsoever. In my opinion and definition, the “median voter” is split into two camps; those who voted for Harris, and those who voted for anything else/didn’t vote. Furthering my opinionated answer to your question, the former group already cares and anticipated these developments and so does the latter group, it’s just the latter group doesn’t believe it’s happening, and I don’t think they’ll believe it until a serious, serious recession hits the economy and tanks their income.

Meanwhile my parents let me buy It in middle school and I dipped half-way out because I got bored only to then eat the rest of his works like a bag of chips.

Have you read Beren and Luthien, The Children of Hurin and The Fall of Gondolin? I absolutely adore them. They read like real fairytales.

If you like fantasy similar to the Lord of the Rings, I cannot recommend the list from this website enough. I’ve read them all and The Broken Sword, Conan the Barbarian and Gormenghast were absolutely delicious. Especially The Broken Sword.

Someone over at Amazon asked to copy Netflix’s Love, Death and Robots for their Secret Level show and did not change it up a bit so it doesn’t look like they copied. I’m not complaining because it’s pseudo-Love, Death and Robots season 4 and I eat that shit up like hot cakes, but when I was watching I was :O thinking “Sure hope nobody at Netflix watches this lol someone is gonna get mad.”

I can not recommend the Pac-Man short “Circle” enough though if only for the first watch experience. If it was a plane it coasted, started to descend, took a bit of a nose dive, releveled itself and then just turn around and flew out of the stratosphere. What a weird ass little short lmfao.

One time I had to wait two weeks for my refill and by the time I got it I was glitching out of the damn Matrix.

...I'm pretty sure the joke flew over my head?
