The key word in your example is "state-funded". That isn't rival institutional power, that is basic capital command-flow. Very few taxpayers are happy with carte-blanche funding of anything, and few legislators would risk their reputation in such a way. There are some basic parameters of public-interest (I understand that such a term can be twisted, but it remains there in a functional system) that require enforcement (very disrespectful to my imagined Fraud-punk religion where committing fraud is cool).
Much of the contention that morphs the state into a civic church is the morphing of the word "public-interest" to become anything you can imagine, so long as it is dressed in anti-discrimination language (see below for why).
Neoreactionaries have identified the modern civic-religion in the US as having been conceived with the Civil Rights Act which goes far-beyond state-funded entities:
State-sanctioned Racial-districting, private businesses can't freely associate if that includes turning away members of a specific race from their business, neighborhoods cannot limit who purchases homes in an area.
Basically it's the point at which the constitution morphs away from being a limiter on state-power. Now the state can enter and enforce its religion anywhere where a civil-rights grievance can be claimed.
In Europe, the encroachment is a bit more baked-in: For instance, Germany simply outlaws home-schooling outright. This is fairly insane from the perspective of an American: nobody is free to educate their child outside of the state.
Arguably the ability to educate your children away from state-propaganda is a God-given right.
In fact there is the case of a German homeschooling family (The Romeike family) obtaining deferred-status to stay in the US due to state-persecution in Germany. They were initially granted Asylum and then revoked by the Obama administration (An administration emblematic of upholding civic-religion).
The contrast between the traditional limited-government american legal view to grant asylum to such a family vs the civic-religion upholding Obama administration clarifies much: From the traditional american perspective, A victim of state-persecution is offered a lifeline by the US. From the perspective of the Obama administration, offering this family asylum validates apostasy from the German civic-religion which is disrespectful, being a fellow civic-religion.

As an example from my own experience, there is a niche of Youtube electrical engineering instruction that is largely dominated by English-speaking Indians.
I agree that since the Anglosphere has more of a culture of media-creation/video-creation, most of the well-produced, viral content will continue from here in the near-future.
Don't discount the effects of a changing passive audience: they determine what gets popular.
India currently has the largest YouTube Userbase with 518 million compared to the US's 259 million.

When people say "normie", they approximately mean "the masses of regular people in the Anglosphere" which is a global minority and techliterate (especially in English-first tech ecosystems) compared to the masses of people elsewhere.
The internet has formalized equality, so if a similar percentage of people in Africa and India join the internet as the US, then there will be many times more African and Indian users than native-English users.

It brings warmth to my heart to see people under the spell of the culture war pretend that Kimmel is funny because it deflates credibility and makes the whole premise so lame.
Although I have distaste for the "mediocre White guy with unearned success" rhetoric in most of its uses, he is kind of a good example of it which makes the fact that that side of the culture war is rallying behind him funnier.
Also he wore blackface, for whatever that means to anyone.

If you think bot accusations are bad now, imagine if the great firewall fell and 1 billion Chinese internet users suddenly inundated socials.
You mention how the barrier to entry corresponds to the degradation of the internet and I am reminded that someone pointed out that the popularization of "Dead Internet Theory" perfectly corresponds with the adoption of the internet by a huge number of Africans and Indians.
Part of the nature of libertarian wild west ethos is that it gravitates to places where there is no establishment yet. So don't waste your time in an established domain pining for the old days. Focus on new domains instead.
The US is obviously not a hold-out for freedom of information, as the USG would happily enforce IP law upon the world if it could (as orchestrated by the mouse). AI is a bit of a miracle in this regard because it came into existence faster than IP law could contain it.
Ironically the most "authoritarian" governements are some of the last bastions of hope for freedom in various fundamental domains: I'm thinking about the pricipled stand that Putin made with Snowden when a weaker country may have extradicted him (remember how few countries actually offered asylum to him (none in Europe btw)?), and China is really a darling when it comes to ignoring US ip law (ip law essentially being state-enforced artificial-scarcity on an inherently abundant medium), and it is former soviet territories that allow for true freedom of information via Anna's archive, Sci-hub, LibGen, etc.
The real libertarian frontier of AI is local open-weight models/paradigms(Hermes, OpenCode) which China is much more culturally-aligned with at the moment, at least for base models (I was about to say "GLM not withstanding" here until I checked and found out that Z.ai is indeed also a chinese company)
Many of these authoritarian policies emerging in California/Europe are partly an emulation of China. I have heard it said that China is the only government that took the internet seriously from its inception as a governed entity.
Even being somewhat libertatian-minded, I greatly admire the fact that Xi can label OnlyFans as socially-damaging "Western degeneracy" and wipe it in an instant from infecting China.
I tend to prefer using a decent LLM guide me through various textual analyses of literature that I have pulled from LibGen than have reddit-level arguments online. I think many young people are realizing that interactions with LLMs can often be more meaningful and healthier than an average interaction with strangers on any established forum in the World Wide Web.

You could point to any country that has run into hyperinflation so that all of its citizens become billionaires+. Talk to them about Zimbabweans in 2008: they were all billionaires! You could even get your hands on one of those billion-dollar zimbabwean notes and pass it around as a kind of "ethical immunity totem" as you discuss the issue.
They love saying that slogan because they have trained themselves online into rhetorically browbeating anyone who even slightly disagrees. Purity testing is a part of progressive (communist) culture.
It is a last-gasp of marxist zero-sum class warfare. If they they let go of Marxism, they really might have little else to add to the conversation.

That comic could very well have the brain on a stick in both panels as none of the descriptors in the first are usually associated with anything other than the brain. Also, "hopes, dreams, and aspirations" are basically synonyms.
There is a point to be made that delving into the hypertransactional abyss in defining relationships wraps back around into meaningful compassionate connections when all factors are considered (e.g. A shareholder doesn't want Amazon to have a bad reputation, and a shareholder has a long-term perspective that would not encourage short-sighted "cost-savings")

It's called having your cake and eating it too. It's tough for progressive comedy to emerge from the end of wokeness and actually allow raunchy humor.
In the context, it is quite funny without betraying the premise of wokeness, as the jokes are explicitly writen by the black comedian to make the white comedian uncomfortable and viceversa (and they don't see the jokes until they see them on the cue cards?) which is a funny premise in itself.

Nobody knows what the Democrats are since they've been delaying internal change since 2016. Republicans happily let go of the Bushs in 2016, but Dems couldn't let go of the Clintons. Their nostalgia for the Clinton/Bush political dynasty-building paradigm has bizarre outcomes like outspoken Dem alignment with Liz Cheney of all people, plus, of course, the Biden Necromancy and prospective diversity hire dynasty (Biden > Harris > Walz)
I think they intuitively inderstand that their own party may well transform in a similar way as the Republican Party in 2016 and want to delay and delay to mitigate the deleterious effect of the transformation which will likely benefit them in medium run (while Republicans cling to the nostalgia of Trumpism). They will likely endure more losses in the mean time.
