What does gold pill mean? I've heard of red, blue, black, white, and pink pills, but not gold.

I really don't know what Objectivism is. I've just never really seen anyone defend or explain it in depth, and I've never seen anyone smart recommend it besides Rand herself.

I quite like fast food and if a quarter pounder with fries and a drink was $6 I would probably go to McDonald’s frequently when I didn’t feel like cooking, but it’s $12.29 (just checked)

They frequently have coupons built into the app you can use. Also, often the drink prices are very inflated- you can save a couple bucks easily by using a reusable water, even if you just fill it with soda you bought at the grocery store.

Touche.

empty, clinical, deracinated, joyless

Reading the blog it sounded like everyone had a great time with lots of fun. Probably not much emotional intimacy, but I don't see why that matters. It was done with precision and rules, but that's just because rules keep things orderly. You might as well call a game of Monopoly clinical and dispassionate because people agree ahead of time to take turns in a specific order.

It really feels like your whole reaction is just "This is really gross to ME, so I am EXTREMELY offended that other people do it!". Bad enough that you think you know Aella and the participants better than themselves and that you think you can judge that they'd have been better off not doing it. It's much worse that it's emotionally affecting you to such a degree and that you seem to think they deserve some sort of punishment or at least social ostracization from all of society for having a gang bang.

It becomes terrorism after the treaty is signed ending the war. If descendants of the Natives want to call those treaties unfair and demand reparations, I think they have a right to peacefully protest for it, and situationally I might even support their cause. They don’t have a right to commit violence.

Similarly, Arabs don’t have a right to start armed conflicts, and they’re in the wrong when they do so.

Exactly

I kind of want to try an out there idea of the government just raising the children itself basically. Make it an actual job to have children and then raise them, and pay women a salary to do it. And that's their full time job, raising and teaching all their children. I want the genetic mothers to stay with their children and not just hand them off because I think people are genetically inclined to raise their own children much better. And allow regular parents to drop their kids off at the facilities for free daycare and schooling.

I don't think the number of actual trad men is that much larger than the number of virgin women out there. Also I don't have much sympathy for this view point because trad men, and many other various types of conservative men, will rail and rail against women having casual sex, but don't have much to say about other men having casual sex. They might say they disapprove of promiscuous men too if you ask, but they never write long posts about how the quality of our nation is declining because of all the men out there sowing oats instead of settling down. Casual sex should be degrading the character of men just as much as it does women, but these types aren't taking a stand against men engaging in casual sex.

I haven't used chatGPT much, but wouldn't it be prone to getting some facts wrong, or being too easily convinced of false statements, if you tried conversing about 2nd century Christianity with it?

I think it'd be the first step at least. I think Ukraine has a much better chance at regaining their full sovereignty through military force than Palestine does though, so Russia would have to give a lot in their compromise. In my view there's a very low chance that Palestine's current strategy will even reverse the Israeli settlements, let alone lead to something like a single state that's majority Palestinian, or a two state solution with the 1948 borders. But I think there's a good chance Ukraine's current strategy will push things back to the 2021 scenario, and possibly even back to 2013 borders.

Why?

I think Putin values his personal power too much to make for a good ally. Maybe he could be a crappy ally like Saudi Arabia or Pakistan, but pretty much the definition of being that sort of ally is just not complaining when the US puts their military bases near you I think. Which he doesn't seem willing to do given the whole Ukraine thing.

attempting to align his interests with that of Europe and NATO

How so?

Based on what? Do you think you've ever listened to Putin or consumed pro (or even neutral) putin sources?

Nope, that's why I said I don't know a ton about him.

Is this the same as Washington stepping down? No. Putin maintained significantly more control than Washington did after Washington's presidency, but never-the-less, he did step back from his absolute dominance established after the Chechen war.

It doesn't count for much when he came back and continued to be an almost-dictator. I don't know much about the NATO Libyan war, but I doubt whatever happened really forced Putin to take power back, I think Russia would've been fine if he just retired.

It's still more work. Like cooking a steak vs having a microwavable meal for dinner. The sex/steak's going to be better, but if you don't feel like putting in more than a lazy five minutes in, the porn/microwave is the choice people will go for.

Even if your partner is happy to have sex and all you need to do is ask, the reasons I listed are reasons why someone might not want to.

I think Kanye is mentally ill and erratic. Analyzing his decisions as if they were part of a grand plan is a mistake. I know people say that about lots of people like Donald Trump and Putin too, but I think it's very very likely to be true for at least Kanye.

The Lord of the Rings cards could exist in a world where skin colour can have a wide variance from one's family based on exactly which genes someone gets and nutrition and what not. Like how a short mother can have a tall daughter, a dark skinned father can have a pale son. It's a bit ridiculous and personally I don't like it, but it's Or maybe genes don't exist there and people physical traits are personally determined by Eru when they're in the womb. It's silly and I don't like it, but it's ultimately one change to the world: skin colour isn't genetic like how it is in our world(unless they release other materials indicating that in their set Eomer is actually adopted or something, which would bring back to being really upset).

I think of all the decisions a parent has over their child's life, circumcision is a relatively small one. Parents have the power to completely fuck over their children without it remotely qualifying as anything illegal or even justifiable to have the child taken away. The only way for the world to function is for society to assume parents have their biological children's best interests at heart, which they do 99% of the time. If parents think, "I predict my child would want to be circumcised as an adult", I think they should be allowed to go through with it, because the evidence is strong that adult circumcision greatly reduces sexually pleasure, where as the evidence that circumcision as a baby reduces sexual pleasure is weak.

There are other benefits to foreskin removal as well, like hygiene and having effects on preventing STD spread. Enough that I don't think not being circumcised is overwhelmingly better, even if on net it's probably better.

In conclusion, I think hospitals should tell parents "Are you sure you want circumcision? Here are a lot of the negative effects", and if the parents say yes anyways, it happens.

Miranda he 33 year old lawyer with 42 partners and chlamydia is basically guaranteed to be miserable for the next 45 years of her statistical life.

I'm not convinced a counter-factual Miranda with 0 partners and 0 chlamydia at age 33 would have a particularly easier time finding a man who'll make her happy for the next 45 years of her life.

There's lots of references in the redpill-sphere of how high body count leads to infidelity, but that sounds like something very easily prone to mistaking correlation for causation. I think it's very plausible that women with high body counts have high body counts because they enjoy having sex with lots of different people, and that that desire was already present in them before they had sex for the first time.

Of course, this isn't always what happens--sometimes crazed academic scribblings never become more than that. But it is difficult to know for certain which ideas will take hold in advance. If I should not be concerned about what people talk about at the WEF, pray tell--what should I be concerned about?

I think if you're concerned about shrinking homes, meat increasing in price, gas stoves, etc. it's a better move to write your own intelligent think pieces about the benefits of large homes, meat, gas stoves, etc. instead of ranting and making memes about how the elite global order want to make your life worse. I don't really have any hard evidence for it, but intuitively I feel like Zvi's blog post about the benefits of gas stoves was many more times effective in preserving gas stoves than any number of /r/politicalcompassmemes posts or comments hating gas stove bans and regulations. Because if you're genuinely in the right, there's a decent chance a well written essay will beat out the essays of your opposition.

Alternative hypothesis: the story is actually deliberate propaganda against a particular type of guy (and against a very specific guy, once you're familiar with the details), and arguably even a particular type of girl, and it's reacted to accordingly. It's a little bit like someone wrote a ficitional story about Jews murdering Christian babies, and drinking their blood, and when understandably people got upset you counter with "Well, do you murder Christian babies and drink their blood? No? So the story is not about you". Bonus points for the characters closely resembling a particular Jewish family.

I think a complication in this metaphor is that, as far as I know, Jews murdering Christian babies and drinking their blood was never once actually a thing that happened. But this archetype of creepy man is very much a real thing, and I know of a few guys at the school I went to like that. I am sympathetic to your point, because when the archetype in fiction and also the blogosphere becomes really common, it makes it seem like roughly 50% of guys are like that, and that's like an attack on all guys. But there are a real rough 1% of guys who really are just like that and I think it is important for people, and especially women, to be aware of and slightly on guard against that archetype.

There's a big difference between what's appropriate at blue collar jobs and what's appropriate at white collar jobs.

Sounds like they were doing a great job helping Democrats defeat Republicans. Democrats basically did the opposite when they spent money to promote far right Trumpist candidates in the midterms; a strategy that appears to have been successful for them. Median voter theorem does suggest the more centrist candidate should usually win.

Also see Scott's post on money in politics https://slatestarcodex.com/2019/09/18/too-much-dark-money-in-almonds/ I pretty much agree with it, if the voters really want a given candidate to win, no amount of money spent on ads will change that. Money in politics tips tight races, and it has the advantage of getting a politician to hear your ideas; a politician will never propose a bill about something they've never heard of of course. But it won't get a politician to do something blatantly against the voter's interest; a construction company won't be able to spend a billion dollars to lobby the government into giving them a trillion dollar contract.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kanye_West

Kanye West openly is bipolar and been on a variety of medications. His anti-semitisn was not a result of him vile racism or careful research to uncover the truth, it was a result of ill paranoia making him believe conspiracy theories. Regardless of whether you believe the jews are the most persecuted minority in history or you're part of the Dark Enlightenment who thinks the Jews are very suspicious, it should be obvious Kanye believed what he did because of mental illness not because he's also part of the dark enlightenment.

"Controversy" like playing footsie with the idea the election as stolen? If so, do you think Fox always cares about controversy?

I think Fox probably should be firing people who have lied or severely misled about the facts of the 2020 election.

Let's put it another way: let's say this information leaked about Fox (or any other workplace) but there was zero lawsuit risk. How important do you think the "controversy" would be in practical terms?

I think it's a tough comparison because before you fire someone for skepticism about the 2020 election, you've got to firmly establish the facts of what happened in the 2020 election. That takes some time to do. Whereas Don Lemon's comments,

“Nikki Haley isn’t in her prime, sorry,” the journalist said in February while discussing Haley’s suggestion that politicians over age 75 should be subject to mental competency tests. “When a woman is considered to be in her prime — in her 20s, 30s and maybe her 40s.”

When Harlow, 40, asked her cohost to clarify, Lemon said that an internet search would explain what he meant. “Don’t shoot the messenger, I’m just saying what the facts are,” the Transparent author told his fellow anchor. “Google it. … Nikki Haley should be careful about saying that politicians are not in their prime, and they need to be in their prime when they serve. Because she wouldn’t be in her prime, according to Google or whatever it is.

are pretty clearly sexist to me. Unless I'm missing some key context, it's saying a women's prime as a politician is equivalent to her prime as a sexual partner. That's just clear cut not acceptable for a mainstream news anchor to be saying, at least if the news network isn't trying to break into some dissident right niche.

If you are displaying nudism in art because nudism is natural and non-lascivious, there's no need to draw attention to other lascivious forms.

Yes, there is. Lots of kids at 12 may have literally never seen visual depictions of human genitalia, but they have heard of the concept of porn. So their teacher shows them a picture depicting genitalia, they might be wondering "wait did my teacher just show me porn?" because they don't yet understand what exactly is porn and eroticism vs nudism in art.

You are inviting students to be curious about what is porn, but that's not really an issue imo. 12 is a fine enough age for kids to be aware of the concept of porn and what does/does not qualify as porn even if they probably shouldn't be watching it. Everyone has to learn sometime, and I don't think delaying it for 4 years or whatever reduces the odds of them being groomed.

Maybe. Whenever I hear stories from friends or online, it definitely seems a lot more that they didn't imagine that so many male friends wanted to fuck them. Pretty much every woman I know in real life or seen stories from have been shocked when they go on dating apps for the first time and realize they have hundreds or thousands of likes from men who want to fuck them.
