Very late reply here: Actually it's weird that they don't like it because after my wife told me about this I thought that it goes really well with my understanding of things which is entirely based on https://slatestarcodex.com/2017/09/05/book-review-surfing-uncertainty.

I think the point is not that they fake it but that they meme themselves into being retarded. The pain is real, the cause is not. Or something like this is the saying.

My wife also had a chronic health issue for a few years before she stumbled on Sarno and it went away in 2 months by doing (basically) nothing.
Mentioned this to other friends as well and those that "tried it" had similar success stories (tiny sample but still).
So I think this is vastly underestimated. I tried starting a conversation years ago on a comment post on Scott's blog but nothing came of it iirc.

My power bank was lost near a lake in the wilderness (not by me) and I would prefer someone finding & using it compared to "my property" junking up the environment.
I'd still prefer a dishonest finder that could have returned it ( = pretty much stealing, except that the alternative would have been that it's lost instead of "it stays in my wife's pocket") it and kept it compared to the thing going to a landfill/staying at the lake.
Not sure if Physics still counts as "hard or concrete" field, but a lot of attention in the last few decades was spent on (mis-)adventures where the real world won't care one way or another. Of course, the fact that the world doesn't care also means that most people tuned out a long time ago, so at worst some people will have an egg on their face in a forest where nobody is around to notice.
