Economists are making a fundamental mistake for the most obvious of reasons: politics.
If you assume that a Haitian and an American are equivalent, then there is no reason that immigration would lower wages, since the immigrants would create jobs in equal measure to the ones they take.
Start with a flawed axiom (blank slate) and come to flawed conclusions.
