Sort of related…

I’m a latecomer to IT and information security. I spent most of my career in sales until going back to school for InfoSec. I started off in a help-desk role three years ago and I’m currently the information security engineer for a small IT team. I basically handle all security tasks: network, web, IAM, audits, etc. I’m 42, so this was a later-in-life transition. My boss is younger than me by at least 7 years and is far more knowledgeable than I.

Anyways…I have found myself to be very interested in application/web app security. The thing is, I can’t code. I rely mainly on vuln scanning and static code testing, with a little bit of pen testing knowledge thrown in. Any advice on where I should start if I want to learn more about app development and coding?

“Archaeology is the search for fact, not truth. If it's truth you're interested in, Dr. Tyree's philosophy class is right down the hall.”

“I have to admit, if you had asked me who Markwayne Mullin was, I would have bet $1000 he was a black kid who played defensive line in the SEC, what kind of name is Markwayne anyway?”

“Turnover is generally bad…”

If he was a defensive lineman, it would be good.

I seem to remember someone on this site posting about a study or studies about how men of husband/father age were the unhappiest and/or most depressed group of people. I think the age range was like 30-55 or something. Anyone know about this? Am I making it up? Can’t seem to find it.

Not sure where I am going with this comment, but I’m surprised at the number of negative or respectful reactions I’ve seen. Yes, there have been people who are happy, celebrating, or at least unsympathetic about the shooting.

But I’ve also see that the Yankees had a moment of silence for Kirk before last night’s game and that an MTSU administrator was fired for her comments about the shooting. Can’t provide links ATM, and these are just a sample, but I feel like this is a sea change. When was the last time you saw outrage of this level because of something that happened to a conservative?
