I’ve heard over the years that SIDs was just society’s way of covering up infantacide. How true is this? Are their stats? Studies? Not making a judgement either way, just wondering.

I thought this post was going to be about how Chipotle burritos ordered for pickup are delivery are obviously and notable smaller and less filled than the ones they make while you watch.

What is everyone’s go-to cocktail? I tend to be a beer guy, and keep it simple with cocktails. Gin and tonic, whiskey sour, a martini if I’m feeling fancy, or a tropical rum drink if I’m really in party mode or on the beach. Anyone have anything a bit more adventurous? I like rum, scotch, gin, bourbon, not really a huge vodka fan.

Edit: A gin martini, just to clarify. Typically with Beefeater.

Probably one of my top ten all time favorite movies!

“Lumberg FUCKED her.”

I like to say that I’m ready to retire, but my bank account isn’t.

True! So yeah, not wishing I was unemployed.

I posted the original in last Sunday’s small question thread, but posting my reply here.

Thanks you to @Thoroughlygruntled, @yofuckreddit, @MathWizard, @Hieronymus, @charlesf, @erwgv3g34, @Vollerei, @KingOfTheBailey, @orthoxerox, @Rex, @TowardsPanna, @chooky, @WhiningCoil, @ulyssessword, @birb_cromble, @aqouta, and @ToaKraka for the computer game recommendations. Before this post, I was already playing Skyrim and Baldur’s Gate III. I also bought The Long Dark.

I have a lot of work to do if I’m going to get through these. I’ll keep you all up to date. As @yofuckreddit said, it would be best if I was unemployed for a whole year so I could play them.

I mentioned this in another thread, but I finally have a gaming PC. I am far behind on gaming. The newest console I have is from 2012. I never had a gaming PC. I am open to any games of any genre from the last 30 years. I love RPGs, but open to anything. Bonus if it’s cheap.

Yes! Thank you! Adding them to the list.

Yes! I was going to start a similar thread. I’m not much of a gamer. Was a Nintendo kid growing up in the 90s. Played games in the early 2000s - mainly sports games. Have some older consoles but largely very behind on gaming and never had a gaming PC. Was playing Skyrim on an old laptop but now have upgraded to a true gaming PC. First, I’ve modded the hell out of Skyrim to make the world feel more alive. Also trying my hand at Baldur’s Gate 3. Any recommendations? I’m open to pretty much all genres.

Yeah, yeah…not great Bob.

Somewhat related, I’ve read a lot of hatred being hurled at Belgium in regards to soccer. Can you explain the anti-Belgian thing? They seem like a tiny country that nobody really cares about with a soccer team that is like second or third tier in Europe. I know they’re highly ranked but that’s it. Why do non-US soccer fans seem to hate them?

Sort of related…

I’m a latecomer to IT and information security. I spent most of my career in sales until going back to school for InfoSec. I started off in a help-desk role three years ago and I’m currently the information security engineer for a small IT team. I basically handle all security tasks: network, web, IAM, audits, etc. I’m 42, so this was a later-in-life transition. My boss is younger than me by at least 7 years and is far more knowledgeable than I.

Anyways…I have found myself to be very interested in application/web app security. The thing is, I can’t code. I rely mainly on vuln scanning and static code testing, with a little bit of pen testing knowledge thrown in. Any advice on where I should start if I want to learn more about app development and coding?

“Archaeology is the search for fact, not truth. If it's truth you're interested in, Dr. Tyree's philosophy class is right down the hall.”

“I have to admit, if you had asked me who Markwayne Mullin was, I would have bet $1000 he was a black kid who played defensive line in the SEC, what kind of name is Markwayne anyway?”

“Turnover is generally bad…”

If he was a defensive lineman, it would be good.

I seem to remember someone on this site posting about a study or studies about how men of husband/father age were the unhappiest and/or most depressed group of people. I think the age range was like 30-55 or something. Anyone know about this? Am I making it up? Can’t seem to find it.

Not sure where I am going with this comment, but I’m surprised at the number of negative or respectful reactions I’ve seen. Yes, there have been people who are happy, celebrating, or at least unsympathetic about the shooting.

But I’ve also see that the Yankees had a moment of silence for Kirk before last night’s game and that an MTSU administrator was fired for her comments about the shooting. Can’t provide links ATM, and these are just a sample, but I feel like this is a sea change. When was the last time you saw outrage of this level because of something that happened to a conservative?
