East coast guy who knew — tangentially — one person from Alaska so defer to your knowledge

When it comes to identity, I think it is Texas big gap then runner up. Not sure if that runner up is California or Florida.

Well, the other argument is that if the people you let in will vote democrat then it makes sense for Biden provided the loss of historic voters is less than the new votes.

  1. Is it possible that housing pricing is correlated with cities and cities may be easier for homeless people to navigate? That is, high home prices don’t cause homelessness but instead is a function of the same thing that attracts homelessness.

  2. Other argument is people aren’t really worried about the working homeless that housing prices may cause. Instead, they are worried about the drugged out crazy.

Care to share those studies? How many of them are longitudinal?

Assuming counseling is highly effective. I’ve never seen someone start therapy graduate from therapy. I have seen people with illness stop going to see the specialist once cured.

I think therapy is a racket.

I’m not saying it “was fine actually.” I’m saying if someone is classically racist, they are pushed out of polite society in a way that wouldn’t be the case if they had larger moral failings. See for example Michal Richards v. Mike Tyson. One said “nigger” and was pushed out of polite society. The other is celebrated whilst being a rapist. I think we have our priorities mixed up.

  1. I noted that there is the question of whether he is right.

  2. I guess the question so what is the right denominator for determine over or under representation.

Sure. It can. But so can people who believe in the government control of the means of production or people who believe in say Islam.

His whole point seemed to be “sure they come out and do perfectly respectable nice upper middle class jobs but they arent doing something great or amazing”

He is saying greatness is the goal which means merit is how great could you become

That’s a lot of words to basically say “merit wasn’t being properly measured and when properly measured for it Asians don’t measure up.”

Now whether it is true is a different matter.

I just think racism as a moral failing is just not that important. I think there are probably a lot of truly shitty people that aren’t racists and some nice people who are racists.

Generally, I’d care more about whether someone is generally nice to other people, are they hospitable, do they actively create harm for others, are they a narcissist, etc compared to racism.

Isn’t the east response to this “The US failed the constitution; new partition of US will have the exact same constitution but actually follow it”

Of course, Canada”s elite were quite famously loyalist who hated the American experiment.

Is your contention that all white people are the same?

Have you read Barrington Moore? He contends that the US Revolution wasn’t really a revolutionary as the elites day 0 were similar elites after the war.

Why do you assume the US would have similar politics to European powers?

We have an HSA. Just set up payment plan and used that. It didn’t impact our finances in any noticeable way.

No but after all of the other interventions fail to correct the difference HBD (dumb name by the way) might answer the question for some.

That’s like what 0.01%ish of the population? And of those, how many people die on the spot? It can’t explain the presence of “healthcare is super important”

As for broken bones, 1%ish every three years isn’t that much either. Also probably isn’t that bad of an experience from a medical perspective either.

The question for those who eschew HBD is how do you deal with the systemic racism arguments? I guess you can say culture.

It depends. I consider myself conservative yet I wouldn’t support banning porn for adults nor do I support banning most recreational drugs (even if I would argue most people shouldn’t use them)

But kids are always a tricky area for liberty minded people. There is a real problem since (1) kids don’t really understand the long term costs, (2) have a fuck ton of hormones clouding their judgment, and (3) the future self problem. It is one reason I steadfastly support all bans of so called gender therapy for minors.

I’m not sure how I feel about the topic of OP. But I recognize (maybe rationalize) that one can be pro liberty but realize that doesn’t apply for a 9 year old.

I know no one in the final category. My recollection from the literature is that bankruptcy due primarily to healthcare is very small (as opposed to bankruptcy that includes health care but where health care is not the primary factor).

With respect to the second category, I guess (maybe?). That’s putting aside that birth control per se is pretty shitty for women but also relatively cheap and affordable. I wouldn’t think again that birth control is a primary factor but who knows.

First one, yeah that seems legit (insulin is expensive).

I’m a parent of small kids. So we go to the pediatrician and it is very easy. No fuss. Don’t know why anyone would complain about that.

You think a lot of people get run over by buses? Or for that matter you think a lot of healthy young people get cancer or even break a leg?

Why not both? Some wanted her gone due to her Israeli comments. Some wanted her gone due to her plagiarism. Many probably wanted her gone for both reasons. The more target space you give your opponent the more vulnerable you become.
