Isn't the point that Singapore is the opposite of isolated? It's in one of the most strategic locations on the planet and is a massive shipping hub on the way to very wealthy places. Argentina is on the way to where? Miami is the Latin American finance hub because it's on the way to... in the Estados Unidos.

I just started playing around with Gemini... I would encourage others too and take screen shots. Looks like they did tweak it since last night and I was able to get a white guy first try when asking for a mid-evil knight without a helmet (I also got a topless Native American with a broadsword) and all white Vikings.

I was trying to generate a space marine and it started throwing a fit when I asked for more of the helmeted marine, not the one with pink hair. Apparently this was exclusionary language and not allowed.

Haven't been able to get an image of the First Thanksgiving.

Asked for an image of a pre-Colombian tribe, no racial diversity there but it did give a bunch of morbidly obese Indians.

Asking for images of people eating fired chicken sets off alarm bells but I did get it to create one and it did even have a black guy eating chicken among a racially and sexually diverse group.

To the point where it was either the KKK who were assigned to boost AA

"Aspects & Assumptions of Whiteness & White Culture in the United States" put out by the National Museum of African American History. An info graphic sandwiched between the the following two paragraphs:

Direct and violent forms of racism that promote white supremacy have been on the rise in recent years. These acts are more directly linked to white nationalism.

White supremacy is an ideology where white people are believed to be superior to nonwhite people. This fallacy is rooted in the same scientific racism and pseudo-science used to justify slavery, imperialism, colonialism, and genocide at various times in throughout history. White supremacist ideologies and their followers continue to perpetuate the myth of white racial superiority.

Some hallmarks of Whiteness & White Culture:

*Self-Reliance

*Emphasis on the Scientific Method

*Objective linear thinking

*Adherence to rigid time schedules

*Plan for future

*Delayed gratification

*Decision-Making

Note: These ideas have been around since at least 1990. [PDF]

I think it was on /r/stupidpol where someone said "Since I don't get to decide which side of the race war I'm on, I'm glad I'm on the side the plans for the future."

In the US, how many people are open-borders advocates?

To take a term already used in this thread de facto vs de jour. Vast majority would not say that they are for "open-borders" but opinion change when there's any kind of filmable enforcement action. "I'm not for open borders but don't do that." Similar to cutting spending, many maybe most want to "cut" federal spending then you give them a list of programs to cut or expand and people in effect want more spending.

It's been official doctrine in the social sciences that authoritarianism is exclusively a right wing phenomenon for decades:

The Experts Somehow Overlooked Authoritarians on the Left - The Atlantic

This was my cynical conspiracy take. Need to hide the genetics from the graves of the tribes they committed genocide against.

Left-wing conspiracy theories—or at least this one—have been polished by the mainstream media and intelligentsia. If you engage in a deep discussion disagreeing with this conspiracy theory, you could lose friends, family members, or even your job. It's what you are told to believe and incentivized to believe, so, of course, many are going to accept it. Also, what's so bad about the belief? At worst, you're just sacrificing to help out people who were harmed; your standard of living might drop a little, but it's worth it to alleviate the incredible suffering of others. That there are people who are genocidal towards whites is just a conspiracy theory...

rule that you as a frail and elderly person pretty much only deserve to have a quality of life worth a damn

Outside of individuals who should be sentenced to life in prison, is there anyone not entitled to an upper-middle-class life, regardless of their life choices?

You need to define what "worth a damn" means. I haven't compiled what I usually see from leftists regarding what the elderly are entitled to, but once listed out, I'm guessing it's an upper-middle-class standard if you want to live in flyover country or a wealthy one if you want to live in an Alpha++ city.

For younger people, I see:

  • Unlimited world-class healthcare.
  • At least 40 hours of childcare per week.
  • No more than two children per bedroom, and older children should not have to share a room for as many children as you can have.
  • A safe, walkable neighborhood within biking distance of the downtown core.
  • A workweek of less than 40 hours, although I observe that this number is constantly decreasing. Let's be honest, jobs are optional because means testing is not allowed.
  • If you do want a job, then more than 6 weeks of paid vacation.
  • At least 3 months of paid parental leave (I've seen people advocating for a year).
  • If you do need a vehicle, it should not be a beater.
  • High-speed internet.
  • A smartphone.
  • Free college (should any education be paid for out of pocket?)

Considering that jobs are optional, it seems that everyone is entitled to the life of a trust fund kid.

For comparison’s sake, Leonid Brezhnev died in office as General Secretary of the USSR Communist Party at age 75. His successor, Yuri Andropov, died at age 69. He was followed in the 1980s by Constantin Chernenko who died in office at age 73.

How many of these guys where alcoholics/smokers?

My wife initially fell victim to tons of the baby gear marketing, but once you realize that your baby is equally happy in the $50 generic amazon swing as he is in the $300 fancy swing, you kind of apply that lesson to child rearing writ large.

It's probably more important for his happiness to make sure he breathes through his nose

Are we the same person?

But after the neighbor boy showed up wearing a LGBTQ pin my wife has gone from a a huge fan of how diverse our local public elementary school (look at all those refugee kids in the playground) to saying we need to gear up to get the kid in the hyper conservative evangelical private school twenty miles away.

Isn't a hallmark of low level criminals that they're rocking room temperature IQ?

This might become my go to example of cancel culture:

Besides, the proof is in the fucking pudding! Unlike most people in politics or journalism, pollsters have a track record that can be tested against actual results. They can be held accountable for political bias that might render their polls less accurate. Rasmussen has indeed had strongly Republican-leaning results relative to the consensus for many years. Despite that strong Republican house effect, however, they’ve had roughly average accuracy overall because polls have considerably understated Republican performance in several recent elections (2014, 2016, 2020).

Even when you can track and mitigate the "bias", the wrong thinkers must be purged.

It also seems (admittedly I have no firsthand experience) that a lot of those southern megachurches have a big fixation on fundraising for Africa, African famines and so on, and about Haiti.

It's bang for your buck. Africa is a big place and you'll see the focus is on "Christian" sub-Saharan Africa because the countries are pretty open to interventions. Same with Papua New Guinea as apposed to Western New Guinea. Also map interventions that were former British Colonies because then you need less language skills. Haiti does speak French but it's also rather close.

The Republican Party: "The Colorado Supreme court has made their decision, let them enforce it."

Would be amusing, but I doubt they have the gumption.

A lot different but a husband would probably still have some explaining to to if a conservative wife fully understood what Aella is. Even more so if the first exposure was one of Alele's thirst posts. You're not getting a divorce over it but it's not going to be a fun conversation.

What about that time they announced a vaccine to a pandemic the week after the election?

because as progressives, we believe even terrible have the right to vote, and self-government

Unless it's state right of fellow Americans in conservative states. Want to keep a right enshrined in the Bill of Rights? We've got nukes, fascists! Don't want teachers telling kids they should cut their genitals off? Genocide! Arabs literally murder gays... well that's just their culture, self governance and all.

The post below seems correct that you can always find a person in a group with wrong opinions to smear.

The difference is that on the right (by Marxist parlance) Nazis don't get tenure at our most prestigious universities. Marxists do.

Probably should have made it clearer. It's a different train of thought. Wife has gotten over the baby expensive things, but unfortunately is shifting to future expensive things.

The Colorado GOP was already threatening to go to a caucus system before this; there's near certainty that they'll try to do so now.

And that's what they have said in response to Vivek:

You won't have to because we will withdraw from the Primary as a Party and convert to a pure caucus system if this is allowed to stand.

I've commented on this before. I work for a company that's core market is pure Red Tribe. Our headquarters is in a very red state, pre-Trump I am confident that vast majority of executives voted Republican. Execs bought the bailey of wokeness hook, line, and sinker. Wokeness is just being a good moral person and taking action against evil. There is real, malicious racism in much of society and we all have problematic unconscious bias. Fascism is on the rise, we need to take to heart the lessons of World War 2 and never let it happen again. Pride is about not torturing people to death, DEI is not not hiring someone because they are black, or not trying to sleep with a subordinate. They got confused when our pride line went over like a lead balloon, or we host events at organizations that teach CRT. Now think how it all goes at corps where the execs were Democrats or even progressives before Trump's presidency.

hypocrisy with regards to crime.

Hypocrisy in using deadly force for a pure property crime?

The sound of the hospital blast is identical to a JDAM missile sound

"JDAM missile" isn't a thing, JDAM is a guidance package attached to a bomb.

Finally, concrete plan how to save the world from paperclipping dropped, presented by world (in)famous Basilisk Man himself.

He's definitely getting tortured for eternity now.

Do you speak Palestinian Arabic?
