The primary purpose of representation in literature is helping younger authors clear out the old wood. Everything else is various other people's mutually incompatible utopias. Some of them are socially stunted enough to believe they can actually get them.
Though hearing an old black lady scream "obscene!" as she was dragged off for being insufficiently progressive was genuinely entertaining. What will be, eh?
