I just tried the "demo" in singleplayer for an hour. I like it. It's got a good engine and controls etc.

I assume most of the fun comes from playing co-op/in guilds though. How's the community in the game?

No idea, there are public community servers but I haven't tried them, and (as lamented above) nobody in my friend circle was interested. I played the entire game in singleplayer and enjoyed it very much. Considering this is at its core a survcrafting game, co-op is probably more enjoyable and there's even raid content (of sorts) for it, but PvP is likely a more jank/mixed bag.

I've put around 5 hours into the game by now. It's a pleasant universe and the Pals are cute. I like how they can be given all sorts of tasks and that they rush over to help you build stuff. :3 And unlike Valheim (which I gave up on pretty quickly), you don't get constant attacks on your base. Maybe that changes further into the game, because there's got to be a use for the defensive structures in the tech tree, but for now I'm able to remain unmolested while noobing around.

I made my home on the beach, and attempted the dungeon there 3 times. One attempt failed because the electric hedgehogs kicked my ass. But I was able to capture a couple of other dungeon bosses. Next session, I'll try the Rayne Syndicate Tower.
