Cause otherwise midterms discussion will be scattered around a bunch of separate Culture War thread posts. And it's nice to have more off-the-cuff rapid reactions in a dedicated megathread.
The first thing I've noticed so far: if the exit polls are correct, Americans are very pessimistic about AI.

Knew I should have put some money down, perhaps I had too little faith in American voters (hard, I know)...
Soon, America will be just like Britain and India. Yay?
80% of what's wrong with the UK comes down to NIMBYism. My impression was that this isn't a partisan issue in the US, and that YIMBYs are winning intra-Dem fights at the moment.

Unironically neither of those two countries are bad places to live once you understand how they function (and are decently skilled enough to avoid the worst types).
If anything the Expatriate East is easier than the West these days since there's a lot more siloing of the good and bad parts. Nice Western cities are relatively unique in having random aggressive homeless people in the middle of the wealthiest streets in human history.

I could probably live in Thailand or China and be happy. Not India. And it's not just me. Seemingly, every Indian who lives in a compound with servants has family members who live in the west. The U.S. is better in every way which is why they all want to come here. I don't blame them.
Britain is tolerable if you're born rich or you make money elsewhere and move there.
Hey, don't knock servants. I wish I had them here in the UK. Unfortunately the Government of this country has made hiring people so expensive it's basically impracticable for all but the richest, and even then it's less of a hassle to hire housekeeping etc. for a few hours rather than have a dependable constant live in servant (plus the other issue, modern UK housing is so small there's no place to give your servants board).
Gotta be a correlation between 'big enough place to quarter a servant productively' and 'big enough place to make it logical to have somebody as a full time cleaning resource'
