On the same day US President Joe Biden spoke to leaders of Jewish groups at the White House.
"I never really thought that I would see and have confirmed pictures of terrorists beheading children," he said.
The White House later clarified his claims by saying neither the president nor US officials had seen pictures or independently confirmed the alleged atrocities and that Mr Biden had based his comments on statements by the spokesman for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and media reports from Israel.
As an aside, just about everytime I hear a direct quote from Biden in the MSM, it is directly followed by a 'clarification' from the White House. Trump also had 'clarifications' following his off the cuff statements, but not at this scale.
I hope America can eventually get a president that actually spouts something close to the White House's official position when asked to make a statement, because right now you're better off asking the press secretary rather than the president if you want to know America's position.
Yeah Biden gets a lot of passes for being a confused old man when the reality is he's nearly as much of a reflexive liar as Trump is. He just says what sounds good with no regard for whether it's true or not.

Why are you called The Motte?
A motte is a stone keep on a raised earthwork common in early medieval fortifications. More pertinently,
it's an element in a rhetorical move called a "Motte-and-Bailey",
originally identified by
philosopher Nicholas Shackel. It describes the tendency in discourse for people to move from a controversial
but high value claim to a defensible but less exciting one upon any resistance to the former. He likens
this to the medieval fortification, where a desirable land (the bailey) is abandoned when in danger for
the more easily defended motte. In Shackel's words, "The Motte represents the defensible but undesired
propositions to which one retreats when hard pressed."
On The Motte, always attempt to remain inside your defensible territory, even if you are not being pressed.
