Well, my gripe with it isn’t so much the historical inaccuracy as much as the overall message of progressive moral self congratulation. The film not only repaints the story in contemporary values but also treats them as self evidently correct and universal, like The End of History in miniature.
Kant as written may not belong here, but the film wants the gravitas of the categorical imperative without the rigor; it gestures at truth-telling as duty, but then decides that acting on conscience is sufficient
