It's hard for me to imagine that. My experience at 3 institutions has been arriving at the registrars office and saying "Hey, I know it says that I have to do X but instead of that, what if I didn't have to?" and them saying "Lol sure go for it".
It's been all wins for me; but I was in the sweet spot of making just enough on the books money to qualify for everything, but not so much as to make me have to pay in cash as it were.
Also I am just a charming little sonofabitch who mounted a polite harassment campaign on the offices of everyone involved. Basically, there is no reason to ever not pair an email with a phone call.
I got them to accept 12-16 extra units just by talking to people long enough enough to let them know I wasn't gonna stop while keeping the manners at 100%.
EDIT: I had that soom ah cum loudly GPA though, I don't know if it works without both.

I've always thought of it more on the marginal $$$ level.
EG, LA has a 11,800,000,000 dollar police budget. Did that last billion really buy any more crime reduction? What about the tenth billion? The Ninth?
That said, we will always need the pigs around. Some dudes really do just want to dress up as clowns and eat people. Can't social work your way out of that one.

It's put me firmly in the upper middle class. Let me hold down a job and go to school at the same time after doing all the night/accelerated shit I could at CC.
On that note, California's guaranteed transfers from certain certified CCs to any 4 year if you have a high GPA is fucking incredible and should be the standard everywhere. Got my degree for about 6k before aid.

I'm hawkish on covid, and I think about it occasionally. EG, during covid I realized I fucking hated eating inside restaurants/going to indoor concerts where the music is amplified purely for noise related reasons so I still do as much as a can outdoors (I pay extra to live in socal, might as well enjoy the weather).
Omicron and further variants has pushed it firmly into the endemic phase and various vaccines are working at various levels of good enough; no point in closing the barn door after the horse is out and I've bought a new horse. I'll take a booster if I see a bunch of people near me get it bad enough to get put on their ass or in the ground, otherwise It's out of my mind like the flue.
My main concern is post viral symptoms associated with covid, because I have some bets on it. I got one payed out for heart damage from Covid Original flavor (one cool bottle of Makers 46 FO cask), but the data for Covid Zero and Chery Vanilla Covid re-heart damage isn't in yet/doesn't look too good for me unless a bunch of studies come out by the end of the year; meaning I might be out a bottle of Del Maguey. I'm still waiting on anything re. kidney damage, but that one has no end date; only when we can agree it is/ isn't happening.

In a hilarious (to me) update (to me), the music video was shot Infront of Maury County Courthouse, site of a medium sized race riot and the lynching of Henry Choate; one of those classic cases where a black dude got accused of assault, beaten to death, dragged behind a truck to the court house, hung by the neck and left there for while before the state decided that nobody involved should be charged with anything in particular.

Truth anticorrelates with FMBDS in the social sense; even if you are FMBDS if you never reach a position of liberty its like you never existed. See, Lyndon B Johnson in the telling lies sense and Napoleon/Mao/authoritarian of choice in the believing your own bullshit sense.
I think that a lack of safety net actually decrease FMBDS, which seems to corelate with risk. Might be why FMBDS historical people have been disproportionately aristocratic/completely dispossessed/mentally ill (EG Stalin). There could be lots of people with FMBDS qualities that never find out/use them because grandma needs health insurance or some shit. Like you said, trade offs where one side has infinite weight.
Finally: FMBDS might only exist in retrospect; it might be a pattern seeking hallucination where we assign values to qualities our monkey brains say make for successful individuals/groups, but only to the groups that succeed. Eg, suppose that Napoleon lost. Is he still FMBDS?
Basically, I think FMBDS is a valuable quality but also such a moving target you can't actually figure out if it there or not without doing a full autopsy.

I got the whole shebang: the nose, fro, wrists, the waterproof coat of fur. It's funny on me because the rest of me is fucking huge; so I'm only slightly taller than I am wide and have to by shirts a couple sizes too big to fit my neck, but I have delicate looking little lady wrists.
Doesn't seem to effect performance and there is no saving my ascetics, so I'll take it!

My bones and especially my skull are noticeably harder and thicker than most peoples, I've gotten comments on xrays and my weight being a bit too heavy for my volume.
I am hypersensitive to bright lights, but only in respect to the total amount of light I am seeing. So if it's too bright I can close one eye and the discomfort goes away.
I look like a gorilla; my arms are too long and my torso and neck are way too wide/thick. I have a great photo I like to break out for laughs of one of those "You may think gorillas look like people, but not so!" standees at a zoo where you are supposed to stand in front of it and go "wow gorillas are big!" but I perfectly overlap with the fucking thing.
And I have that wax thing too! It's supper annoying, I've had to have my GP irrigate my ears with hydrogen peroxide solution 3 times to remove a blockage that was messing with my hearing and balance.

The thing is, I'm not a hipster about the things I really like (excepting coffee.) I like pop rap, pop rock, pop dance, pop edm. I think TacoBell is an incredible restaurant, and so on.
They are also lowest common denominator, but there is still some there there. I even like some pop country!
I feel like stadium country is an exception, and I think the reason why is the cynicism of it. Not to say other genera don't have that too, but country just has the most.
Lot's of country dudes are spectacular artists with really excellent American folk or bluegrass albums/songs they do on the side for artistic fulfilment, then they go out on stage in the big tent and play slop for the hogs.
Imagine a walking into a Michelin star restaurant and the waiter takes the menu out of your hands and says "I think sir would prefer the chicken nuggies". Nuggies are fucking great, nobody hates nuggies. But the context!

Try a different field, if you like; if the shit you have trouble with in compsci is logic design it's all logic design. There is nothing there but remembering symbols and designing logic.
You think compsci guys are in demand? Mechanical engineers, civic engineers, fuking DIRT GUYS (geotech dudes); all the boring stem fields are always hiring here and everywhere.
That said: all very math and remembering shit heavy.

But for real, it is both of you. Even from a non-socialist perspective, you have given up on 'niceness' in exchange for convenience and cheapness; you live the TV dinner equivalent of a life wherever you choose to do this.
Sometimes that is what it is, you don't have the time or spare attention to not live the takeout McDonalds experience, but you should always be mindful on what exactly you are doing and why. From time to time get yourself some craft instead of some kraft. You would not believe how pleased I am with myself for that last line
