Is the windfall from selling a house + expensive land gone under Georgism? If my land goes from being worth 200K to being worth $5M, I still get to pocket that $4.8M, right? I think so because the check from the buy er has to so somewhere, but maybe LVT breaks this in a way I cannot understand.

The mainstream news coverage I saw, and the mainstream reddit posts I saw, said that MV was loving this and happily making room for them. EDIT I see that MV has since put them on buses and shipped them away at gunpoint.
I have known about this campaign to bus the illegals to the sanctuary cities for a long time, but my wife just learned about a few days ago with the MV story. She wanted me to be angry and I knew not to fall into the trap so I just said "it sounds like win-win-win: the immigrants volunteered to be put there, the receiving community says they want them, the 'donor' community says they cannot handle that many refugees."

Okay, so where does the money go?
At the start of 1990 I pay $100K+$100K for land+house by writing a check for $200K to the current owner of land+house.
Land value goes up kind of slowly for the first 15 years (say it goes from $100K to $400K, around 10% a year). I pay LVT of $5000 at the start and $20,000 at the end.
Then it really takes off, going up 50% per year. By 2010 the land is just over $3,000,000, and I decide "fuck this" at the $150K tax bill and sell.
So I sell for $3000K+$250K at the start of 2010 and get a check for $3,250,000 from the guy I sold the land to.
I still get that check. Even retroactively applied against all the back taxes, I come out ahead.
... Unless I decide to keep on living on the the $3 million land for 20 years. But I am choosing to leave nearly $3 million on the table for doing that. Being able to keep on living in one place is nice but not $3 million nice.

(Bari Weiss does not really interview, in the sense of pushing back on her subject and making them take tough positions. I guess that is podcasting world.)
The tl:dr is to not eat anything processed at all. There is some kind of biofeedback which shows you getting better by not eating processed food. The episode's arguments about why there is no support for this range from extremely reasonable to conspiracy theory stuff.
Is there any follow-up research on how well her diet works?
(I do not want "her ideal diet is wrong, follow my ideal diet instead." I just get this sinking feeling whenever I ask questions about a specific diet that people see it as a chance to talk about their own, and that the proponents of the diet in question will say that any problems with it are from not following it closely enough.)

Election security is very important. But if people ask if they can vote and get told they can vote, arresting them seems to not help much. This is not getting us Voter ID. It just looks like the bureaucracy telling people one day they are doing things okay and the next "lol get fukt."

This is even worse. Under either the present system or full gay space communism georgism, at least I do not wake up one morning and get told I have to move out within the next month.
You are robbing the entire owner surplus here. I am sure the grocery store would like to figure out exactly how much I am willing to pay for a loaf of milk or a jar of bread, or the car salesman to figure out exactly what a car is worth to me.
There is being more economically efficient, and then there is negotiating with the swarm of AI drones outside my house exactly how much my child's life is worth to me compared to their value of him in paperclips.
I have a bunch of things in my house that I would like to sell for their market price but the transaction costs are too high to bother. That is essentially negative surplus for me. But I also own things that I value much more than their market value in cash, which is positive surplus, so it balances out. So the idea of a future where I lose the positive surplus but lose the negative surplus is extremely distressing.

Without growth, there is a fixed pie. Anyone else's gain is your loss. It becomes extremely important that you protect what you got, because once someone else has it, they are going to fight like a cornered rat to keep it.
A society without growth might be possible, in the sense that it would not violate the law of gravity. But anyone who thinks they can pull it off and be in charge is already too dumb to actually achieve it, and they will start destroying people about 5 minutes in.
If there were a consistent rule on what "doxxing" meant I might agree. (Even edit, my typo some of the KF defenders weasel about the definition.)
Yesterday I thought of "posting the address enough where a pizza delivery guy can find it" is the limit. I just had the idea that it was specific enough that a third-party could find your doorstep it's too much. It was entirely coincidental that this is old-school way of harassing people.
But sometimes the "doxxing" is "here is this person's criminal record." We absolutely need some place on the internet we can discuss that.

The scientists said that they were only testing for proving making individuals less likely to die, which they were very good at in the pre-Omicron days.
A bunch of other people, particularly in the media, showed up and said "well, that must mean it reduces transmission, right?" and then said "it obviously reduces transmission" even though the scientists said they never tested proved that.
This is some alternate kind of motte-and-bailey, where the useful idiots say wrong things that you can claim credit for in case they turn out to be right, but disavow if they are wrong.

A fair number of high-achieving high-school students fall apart in college, sometimes from being overwhelmed or temporary mental illness or because they no longer have their parents pushing them or because they now have the freedom to smoke dope all day (maybe those last two are the same thing).
I think the most important factor is knowing that they have to put in the work. Tell anyone they keep getting paid or keep getting the grade if they stop working and most will stop. Once they see the light in the tunnel of "do no work and still succeed" many will go for it even if the expected value is worse than studying and/or dropping the class.

If I pulled up Alexandros's blog today and saw he was still talking about it, I would say "oh, okay" and move on.
But Alex keeps on trying to drag Scott back into the argument. I get that Alex found someone who is not was not treating him like a freak and that was a relief, just like it was for Ralph Wiggum when he got a pity valentine from Lisa Simpson. And now Alex stalks Scott and demands Scott pay attention to Alex's latest argument.
I did a control-F for "scott" on this blog and got sixty-three matches. It shows up over twice as many times as "ivermectin."
So it is not "why are you still talking about ivermectin" and more "why are you still talking about Scott!"

a single zero day
This is not how crypto-voting systems work.
You get the series of numbers from the voting system and can run them in your own computer, or even by hand with pencil and paper, and verify that your vote was counted.
The entire point of crypto verification is that you are not relying on someone else's computer. The threat model is the other person actively trying to screw you over, so "someone loaded a zero-day onto the voting equipment" is not even relevant.

Tax dollars are not supposed to go toward religious education. But public agencies pay private schools to comply with government mandates and manage social services. Hasidic boys’ yeshivas, like other private schools, access dozens of such programs, collecting money that subsidizes their theological curriculum.
The details are vague, I expect on purpose. The NYT can surely clear this up but are not so they deserve no bonus points for confusion.
It feels like the government wants to make sure kids have enough to eat, so they pay schools money to do stuff like free school breakfast. And we call this "public funding."
The schools serving the very poorest children will simultaneously have the most "public funding" as well as the worst scores.
At that point the article should never have been written.

Putin might think that the West is not going to sanction him any more than it already has. And that the West will not invade/seize control of the nukes/de-nucelarize Russia because that means total war.
What is the appropriate escalation for the West for 1 nuke used against Ukraine? One nuke against Russia?
I am not sure how big the contingent of "wants to use slurs" is. Certainly I do not encounter people in my right-leaning spaces wanting to use the n-word. I guess I can think of a few if I try really hard, but I mostly think of examples of them being told to control themselves. Even the f-slur gets exasperated sighs.
Or maybe you are being expansive in your use of slurs. You can get quite a bit of power by declaring other people's arguments off-limits and you can do that by calling them slurs. Twitter banned the "NPC" meme because it was dehumanizing, and reddit banned the word "groomer."
RPG.net is very good at making people uncomfortable, because say the wrong thing and you are dead, and "lol just do not say wrong things" is hard when today's wrong thing was a normal thing five years ago. Was ResetEra running "smoothly" on their old server?
