If you want better (but even more provocative and inflammatory) analogy, here is it.
Imagine the world looks as it is, except there is one large country looking like something from far future (Star Trek future, not Mad Max future).
In this land, ordinary menial laborer has big house affordable elsewhere only to millionaires, flying car and personal holodeck entertainment. Even basic health care can treat nearly all illnesses and diseases, including old age. The land is orderly, crime and violence is something unheard of.
What country is it?
It is Israel. Great Messianic Kingdom of Israel from Nile to Euphrates. It is Jewish land, but Gentiles can live there if they know their place.
As Gentile laborer, you live in Gentile community, travel to work and back in your flying car on specially designated Gentile flight tracks, and have to obey and defer to your Jewish bosses. While you have mansion and flying car, every Jew has Versailles sized estate and personal starship. And this is how it always will be. You and your children will be always laborers, will never rise up above their station. This is how G-d wills it.

In this thought experiment, the growth is unprecedented compared to other white countries. Compared to rich blacks who live in big houses, drive big cars and sit in comfy offices doing nothing, your life of menial labor is rather miserable, always had been and always will be.

Add some context to this hypothetical scenario:
1/There is whole huge continent out there, that is 99.9% white with whites in power, with numerous countries, and most of them are infernal hellholes of starvation, plague and war with absolutely nothing resembling any "civil" or "human" rights.
2/ You do not know it, and if someone told you, you would refuse to believe him. You believe that all wealth of the country was created by white laborers working for ten bucks a hour, and if the black bloodsuckers exploiting you went away, you will be fabulously rich and live like people in Hollywood movies.

Church Latin is not language spoken of streets of first and second century Rome. It is much older, it is formal ritual religious language used in Roman worship long before Christianity.

If you believe in the Idea and the Party fails, does it mean that the Idea were false and worthless? No, it means that it was weak, that it needs to be cleansed and purged from weaklings and traitors, or abolished and replaced with something better. There is none.
In 1980's, Soviet system was completely discredited among all classes and strata of population, the more educated the more so. There were not "true believers" anymore, there was no equivalent of people voluntarily defending the Party line (and professional agitators were despised by everyone, including themselves), no equivalent of people sincerely putting "in this house, we believe in the Party" signs.
It was age of universal distrust in any authority (mixed with credulous trust in astrologers, shamans, self proclaimed prophets, faith healers, UFO contactees etc...)

Not connected to any current culture war, but this dead bird thread is nevertheless interesting.
What is missing from nearly all HBDIQ discourse is how modern society is one big incomprehensible Kafkaesque prison for the left part of bell curve. Dealing with omnipresent bureaucracy and jumping through constantly changing hoops is hard for any of us here, who mostly can claim the title of elite human capital.
Now try to put yourself in the shoes of high school dropout, and imagine to deal with car or health insurance (or health care in general) or other things you need to live. And it is getting worse and worse, with no end in sight.

How the heck does "procuring a shooter" even work? Much less the coordination or the concealment, but I'm still stuck at step 1. Like, if you're going to arrange an assassination, wouldn't you be relying on someone other than someone barely out of his teens, both to be successful as well as to not tell anyone?
If you are arranging a conspiracy, the man with rifle in book depository (or on roof of the building) is a patsy, his job is to be seen and leave a corpse, the real shooter is professional on grassy knoll (or first floor of the building). Of course, successful conspiracy requires successful marksmanship.

Yes, most outward marks of class vanished, but class remains. In classless society, there would be no such thing as luxury shops and luxury products.
What happened is that class is disguised. Your boss is not dressed in silks and adorned in gold any more, he does not demand you bowing and scraping before him any more. He looks equally shlubby as you, he shakes your hand and calls you by your first name, but is still your boss.
But I'm curious as to how and why we abandoned any effort to screen for class or presentation in these situations.
Clearly the lack of screening "works."
Clearly, modern capitalism works much better for the upper classes.
Remember, in trad sharply dressed society 100 years ago, lower class dissent and revolution was omnipresent threat. Massive strikes, riots and urprisings were commonplace, revolutionary parties demanding expropriation of the capitalists had mass support.
These things are unthinkable now, the rich are simultaneously richer than ever before, and more secure than ever before. No one in mainstream politics is any threat to them, and they know it.
I am not saying it is because lack of high fashion, but this can be part of the explanation of this mystery.

This planet was underpopulated and declining not because some catastrophe, but unlimited affluence.
