No bio...

Or the majority of the time they're determined by a relatively small population in swing seats

Are felons less likely to vote demographically, though? Wild speculation but I'd imagine a variety of factors that correlate with felonious inclination are anti-correlated with voting.

Sure you can have deniability, but if Covid-19 were an actual bioattack, it would be a laughably bad attempt. All it does is kill old people who are burden on the system - when China because of the One Child Policy will be hit the hardest by the demographic collapse. If anything Covid is great for China, as it kills older less productive people, and lets the young refill the ranks.

Honestly the biggest frustration of COVID is that it provided a convenient out for the biggest Demographic issue of most affluent states right now and yet every major economy dug the hole even colossally deeper instead of taking the short-term hit to fix their issues.

If your only KPI is COVID deaths per capita, lockdowns are fine. Unfortunately the cost-benefit equation versus practically everything else is hilariously awful.

No as in 'things that make you more likely to be a felon also make you less likely to be a voter'

Yeah.

I know a decent amount of high-income 'lottery winner' types between sports, influencers and a few other similar fields. Most just mentally operate on the assumption that the income'll never stop coming.

This goes for all entertainment sources, though. Who actually ends up capturing lightning in a bottle/the zeitgeist is pretty random, especially in the jump between 'known by enthusiasts of X' and 'known by the broader public'

I think it depends on your definition of annihilate the world multiple times over.

A widespread nuclear exchange would likely be incompatible with anything resembling modern civilization, especially due to how inter-networked the global economy is etc.

Would it be a case where every person perished individually as a result of a direct nuclear bombing, no.

Lack of good male role models/instructionals in the field of 'how to get bitches' leads to the Tates of the world getting pre-eminence since they're atleast offering something positive and actionable.

Like I'm not a huge fan of Jordan Peterson but a lot of the critics of his side of the manosphere just don't acknowledge how little the current left-dominated media really attempts to set men up to be successful or upwardly mobile. Tate might be a cartoon character but atleast he's something.

  • A very common thing on /r/MensLib and other such progressive spaces is to note problems, tut tut piously about how this or that problem all caused by patriarchy (even if women are the ones driving it) and will be solved...eventually when we dismantle it. In the meantime...they have nothing for you.

Or varieties of 'yes that is a problem but we need to solve the problems of marginalized oppressed people and prior generations that resembled you had it good so fuck you'

Think it's dependent on your lifestyle as well.

If you're a desk jockey in reasonable weight and live in a cool climate you can probably get away with infrequent showering. If you're slaving away on a plantation you're going to have issues.

Honestly the whole phenomenon of people being superadverse to body odor and such confuses me, since like... 99.999995% of human history would ostensibly have been totally intolerable to people in 2022. In my father (who's in his mid 70s now)'s upbringing, baths were a weekly thing and more than that was considered extravagant. Obviously trends like the reduction in smoking would increase olfactory awareness, but it still seems absurd how precious most people are about scents.

I'll obey hygiene conventions, but personally tend to just be unbothered by sweat (within reason) due to having done a lot of contact sports and thus have never understood the sheer vehemence some people have towards very minor amounts of sweat.

Yeah. I'm similar. I'm very physically active which tends to just regulate my showering tempo according to the 'got immensely sweaty, shower' principle which generally works. But I tend to see showering more as a reactive activity to dirtiness as opposed to a 'must be done at X interval else unclean automatically'

How much of this is commercial, though?

I'd argue the trend towards conservatism with age is significant intertwined by building up a stake in society through ownership of property, high income, preserving one's offspring, looking to avoid taxes and the like. Young people are suffering arrested development in prettymuch all of those fronts and experiencing an extended adolescence

Still it's not like intercultural metropoli are a totally new thing to the era of on-demand frequent/dailyish bathing and deodorants.

Yeah. Generations of Asian immigrants having to largely pass through steep wealth and/or professional tests to immigrate versus White immigration being far more 'random agricultural workers being shipped over'.

From memory 'refugee' groups of Asian immigrants such as the Hmong & Vietnamese tend to be far less distinct from White performance in the USA which also indicates there's a heavy filtering process involved in who gets to be an economic migrant.

High speed rail, efficient ports

Are those technological issues or byproducts of Western bureaucracies and labor dynamics making it very hard to actually erect a best in class port/train infrastructure?

I do agree that people weren't literally sitting in their own filth all the time, but I also think the average person from 2022 would find the scent of everyday people from eras prior to our own to be confronting/unusual.

We learn China has been lying about their covid stats and the real numbers of deaths are horrendous and all their zero-covid strategy was a colossal atrocity

I think it's more likely that COVID just genuinely doesn't do a hell of a lot even if you 'let it rip', especially if you don't use the absurd attribution criteria that was used to justify the lockdowns.

Yeah but a lot of that's down to China being China.

If it were an actual company in a Western country I think there's a lot more scope for reprisals.

Also income isn't necessarily a 1-to-1 proxy to actual societal necessity.

For every heart surgeon that gets hypothetically mowed down you're losing a lot of senior marketing professionals (as somebody who's done that job), makework and bureaucrats who could fade out of existence with the real world barely noticing. My personal ascent to the 1% has generally been distinctly uncorrelated with any sort of 'how much does my job actually do for anybody' principle.

Decent amount of them in MMA & BJJ.

Not sure where people'd draw the line on Lyoto Machida for instance

On the other hand if FTX's malfeasance had been acknowledged earlier it's likely the crypto assets would have been worth notably less, having been propped up the whole fugazi to begin with.

Old rappers are not going on tour, unlike old rockers

How much of that is the relative newness of rap, though? Along with the preponderance of solo acts meaning that death/disability to a name means that it can't be Ship of Theseus'd like a lot of bands are at this point.

The great irony of JK Rowling is that a decade ago she was seen as being laughably, annoyingly left-wing on most issues. She's literally in alignment with woke thought on everything but the Trans issue, and her insistence on being vocal about her thoughts (Which was generally met with applause and cheering till she commented on Trans individuals) is what's led to this situation.

Most equivalent pop culture figures just don't vocalize their opinions.

A male loser always struggled for a partner, regardless of the cultural context

Relative standard of 'loser', though.

My dad's in his mid-70s and comes from a family of 7 siblings from a working class Northern English setting. 5 sisters, all of whom were married before they were 20 due to essentially the non-viability of single life and the standard of 'good husband' being 'doesn't beat wife/kids too often, has an income, not a complete alcoholic'. Like a large part of the Incel issue is that there's a lot of men of reasonable means and unreasonable social awkwardness who'd make perfectly capable husbands and/or fathers who are kept out of contention due to 'the Ick'.
