I don't doubt Resnick can evaluate whether a woman sitting in front of him was suffering from post-partum psychosis or not, but I'm sceptical he can tell if a woman whose had months to start building an insanity plea legal defense was suffering from post-partum psychosis or just post-partum depression several months ago, based on her testimony alone. I'm not sure anyone has that ability, that's practically mind reading.
If he'd seen Clancy before she killed her children or right afterwards I'd put more weight on his evaluation. As far as I understand the medical professionals that did evaluate her at the time made no indication that she heard voices.

Hmm, I read they could only consider involuntary manslaughter, not voluntary, though that was in a Free Press article, not from the video of the trial itself.

The justice system also sentences criminals in order to dissuade others from commiting the same crime in the future.
Widespread reporting on school shootings have spawned copycat shootings over the years, and coverage on suicides can persuade other people that are contemplating suicide to act on it. What kind of message would a not guilty verdict in the Clancy case send to other women who are struggling with post-partum depression and intrusive thoughts? It's not really your fault if you listen to the voices in your head and harm your kids?

Yeah, I wonder why the judge didn't allow the jury to consider convicting her of voluntary manslaughter, which would have made the most sense in my opinion.

With suicide off the table I'm actually not surprised she's mounting a legal defense. A not guilty by reason of insanity would mean the death of her children was "not her fault". A guilty verdict would mean she killed them, plain and simple. I'm not surprised she finds the first option easier to live with, especially since her ex-husband and her parents seem to believe it too.

She "gains" the ability to die knowing no one will be able to take care of her children better than she did, and they will never love someone else more than her.
I do think she's mad, you don't kill your kids and try to kill yourself because you're mentally well, but being unwell enough to think your kids are better off dead isn't the same as not knowing that killing them is illegal, which is what the insanity defense is meant to cover.

To be fair to Clancy in this, she is paralyzed from the waist down and in a mental facility with 24/7 supervision, I'm not sure she can commit suicide.

The game does ask for your pronouns and loves its pastels (which isn't even gay, just cutesy). That's all I've noticed so far. Everyone's also romance-able as either sex, but that's been a farming sim staple for awhile now.

For condos specifically, find out how much they have in the reserve fund and if they've been skimping on any maintenance. I have a friend whose condo fees have been rising quite a lot the last few years because they don't have enough reserves to replace the building's old roof and it's getting harder and harder to get insurance to still cover the building because of it.

Age discrimination is probably less of a hassle to enforce than a noise ordinance (hear the loud party late at night when you're trying to sleep, call the police, wait for the police to show up and tell your neighbors to turn the music down, rinse repeat if they decide to turn the music up again once the police have left).

Yeah, that's pretty much been my personal experience as well. My family immigrated from China when I was in elementary school, and my Chinese vocabulary is still around that level. My brother, who was born in the states, is about the same. The only people I know who've reached greater fluency either studied it in college or got really into watching Chinese dramas.

Because people say things they don't mean and mean things they don't say all the time. One of the best ways to ruin your life as a woman is the believe a man that says "I'll stay with you for the rest of my life and use all my resources to raise our children together" and doesn't mean it. Since the average man doesn't go around talking about how a woman's SMV will drop as she gets older and has more children, a cautious woman has little to lose by treating the subject as a signal against long-term commitment, and may avoid a very bad outcome by doing so.

I think it's a pretty accurate summary of what the average woman hears when a man tries to talk about SMV with her, and probably why OP's female friends don't want to talk about the subject with him.
I'd add a signal for "you're too unattractive for me to be interested in dating" to the list too.

Yes, that's what I meant, I was looking through the mortgage documents prior to signing them and saw the total interest.
They also tell you how much of what you're paying each month is principal/interest/escrow, which provided additional motivation.

I realized when I read through the mortgage documents that the full 30 year term would have me paying double what I borrowed for the house, so resolved to pay it off as fast as possible.
I probably lost out paying down the mortgage vs putting the money in an index fund, but I don't really regret it. If all goes well everything will be paid off by next year, and I'm looking forward to not having a mortgage.

I've enjoyed renting a bike and cycling across the Golden Gate Bridge early in the morning everytime I've visited SF. The view of the bay is wonderful. Maybe a walk across would be a good low-budget alternative?

Coasters and dishcloths are also good starting projects. Small enough that you can do a few and see improvements in each one, and circular coasters will let you practice the cast-on for the stuffed animal project.

You're also more likely to meet someone that's part of your community at the local dance. You're there with your friends, he's there with his friends, there may be some mutual acquaintances, someone you know and trust may be able to vouch for his character, etc. It's a much safer way to date for a woman.
A lot of the complaints about women having unrealistic standards seems to come from dating apps, and I feel like it may partially be a form of risk mitigation. When you know nothing else about a man, you start looking for higher standards for what you can find out about him, to compensate for unknowns. A man that makes 6 figures and spends 20% of it frivolously has a better chance of providing for his family than a man that makes 50k a year and does the same thing.

I have three that came in fine and one that was growing sideways. Was told by my dentist I should get them removed because a partially emerged wisdom tooth is hard to clean and prone to disease. I procrastinated on that for years, and it eventually fully emerged, though slightly shorter than my other molars. My current dentist thinks they're fine as they are.

My parents told me the same thing, it's generally good advice!
Also, any problems your spouse has with their parents/siblings will become your problems as well when you're married.
I just listened to the podcast, and they skipped over the point I was making on whether or not it's possible to determine if Clancy really had command hallucinations at the time of the crime. There's actually a comment on the video noting that Dr. Resnick's court opinion seems to contradict his own teachings in other places on determining if a report of command hallucination is malingering or not.
Dr. Fu is probably correct that it's irrelevant for determining guilt vs innocent due to how Massachusetts law is written, so I guess I'm mostly taking issue with the legal criteria, and the psychiatrists that helped to put it in place.
