Game writing was dreck before these consultants and is so now, too. The reason for this is simple - almost all game writers are D&D geeks who almost exclusively read science fiction and fantasy garbage and have no understanding of classical literature or even film to broaden their ability. Everything is a Marvel movie to them because it’s all they know.
D&D geeks have been writing nothing but in-jokes and sci-fi references since before MCU films were good, and WAY before they were bad. I'm surprised you didn't use the boo-word "capeshit." Being incredibly derivative and tropey are would be an improvement over woke writing.
It's not ugly women and pathetic men that makes the score go up, it's just interacting with SBI, and corporate decision-makers see no reason NOT to chase ESG, since to them "quality" is a vague untrackable nonsense term uncorrelated with the financial success of a product, but ESG rating IS trackable and legible
Thanks for your analysis, but I think you got a bit schizo at the end trying to symbologically analyze the two houses. And the Agamemnon thing is frankly house mythology; history from our time is barely remembered in the year 10000. A huge chunk of the conflict in DUNE is a straightforward critique of imperialism in the Middle East over oil; CHOAM is OPEC.
This was when the Last Jedi had just come out, and in a Costco. This shit's been going on since way before TikTok.
One morning at a farmer's market, in front of our families and newborn babies, I said I didn't like the new Star Trek and another liberal father there started yelling at me at the top of his lungs in public about the importance of punching fascist.
I remember the day I said The Last Jedi wasn't very good and some 40something mom said I was just against strong role models for girls. I told her to go back to the internet and take her opinions with her. It was a big moment for me, because politics intruded on one of my favorite hobbies; bitching about film and TV.
The standard psychoanalysis review is that stuff like She-Hulk is written by narcissistic women for narcissistic women. Which is an easy/lazy dunk.
At this point, I get my film recommendations either from RedLetterMedia or the MauLer Clique (the Efap podcast), and even with the latter, only the core three plus maaaaybe Critical Drinker; too many partisan hacks further down the ladder.
I'm actually really happy when #currentyear writes women and minorities as bad people.
I would be happy, but I typically find that the writer themselves or the fictional world around the characters don't notice that they're bad people and just Yass Queen at everything.
Upon watching the first episode, I said "They're doing Strong Female Characters by writing them as though they were men and making sure all the actual men around them are wusses or scumbags or wussie scumbags" and never bothered to watch further. The only thing I liked was how they pushed that everyone in town is depressed and miserable, that part rang true for me from my time living in northern Wisconsin.
I'm amused/vindicated that They are still doing the whole "You don't like our poorly-written show/film/game? You must just hate women and minorities" thing.
I'll add that as an Atheist, Ive concluded that politics has become everyone's new religion and I hate it, and I especially hate the progressive/leftist religion. To my mind, I'm the last New Atheist, being a stubborn prickly contrarian against smug sanctimony and moral panic regardless of the mask it wears.
I buy frozen chicken thighs from Aldi, pour Italian dressing in the bag itself, add a bit of grape seed oil and lemon pepper and slap one down on a panini press, takes three minutes. I do the same thing with spinach and eggs.
Isn't that a bit of an absurd leap? Both towards cutting off power to the rest of the country and assassinating governors. Neither Biden nor Abbot are tryhard fedposters fantasizing about the Boogaloo, they're elected officials with investment portfolios and re-election campaigns.
I've also seen it on heterosexual men who identify as queer/non-binary to bang rainbow-haired wokescolds.
That doesn't work either. The only time women engage with my cute dog in public is when I'm walking with a female friend, it's a night-and-day difference. Or if their boyfriend is around, then they'll engage with the dog.
I have two recommendations for fantasy that I just found recently but vividly enjoyed for the writing voice: Between Two Fires, and The Blacktongue Thief.
I'm an older millennial. My point is that when I actually get to see how normal people get dates, it frankly looks like two animals grunting at each other. Neither party bothers to do anything extra to convey their personality or say anything you wouldn't get out of a boring, lazily-made chatbot.
No, I am not sexually suggestive, and no I do not write short messages.
So no one is on the app to find dates, then? I don't think you comprehend the level of flaking I've experienced.
Why are the example messages so full of typos and blandly-written? Is this how normies interact with each other?
The being stood up part or the Infinite Rescheduling part? If either only ever happened once to you, then I'm even sadder now than I was before.
The only women who will entertain a conversation in public with a stranger all have boyfriends and are desperate for attention. The ones who are single will say "Ihaveaboyfriend" as you open your mouth.
I've heard people in real life refer to dating apps as the only socially acceptable way to meet people, unless you're in a group of friends and they're in a group of friends, otherwise you're a creeper. Direct paraphrase. Mind you, I was also present for some uber-progressive woman making fun of dudes' pictures on Hinge, then saying that she'd never go on a Hinge date because she doesn't want to get assaulted. Someone asked her why she was on Hinge then, but by that point I had checked out of the conversation and that entire social circle.
How do you get people to turn up? Back when I could bring myself to bother with Hinge, I'd follow all of this, get the date set up, and with a horrific inevitability she'd cancel the day of the date. Then I'd ask to re-schedule, she'd say yes, then bail on the day of the re-scheduled date. Was, rinse, repeat until I get the message and stop talking to her. This happened with 95% reliability on Hinge. The last two times I got tinder dates, I got stood up both times, so I perma-deleted everything I could on there. I no longer have any trust in matches and haven't been able to bring myself to message anyone in months. I just look at the profile, see the inevitable outcome, and skip to the end where I don't go on a date. It's as if asking someone out on Hinge is some sort of disappointment to them "Gee, I really liked this guy I was talking to on this dating app, everything was going so well, I was really into him, until he asked me on a date, ugh, who does that?"
So I dispute 12.
No? I have a degree in Zoology and won a competitive EDH tourney running Toshiro Umezawa, and I've extensively read trash genre fiction.

That's my take too; it's in a random OCB quote: Thou shalt not mutilate the human soul.
