One of the dumbest things I've encountered IRL was a petite, plain-at-worst FtM complaining that gay guys didn't want to fuck him.
So, you want to fuck people with dicks. And you have a vagina. But, instead of dating one of the numerously eager people who like vaginas and have dicks, the dick that fucks you HAS to like dicks, which despite your grooming and manner of dress, you do not have. And instead of compromising on your rather esoteric preference, you choose to waste everyone's time with this woe-is-me bit. Also, I suspect you only have this preference for dicks-that-like-dicks because, despite being heterosexual, you've been conditioned by external influences to think dicks-that-like-vaginas are bad. And no one is allowed to tell you that your desires and how you go about seeking to satisfy them are back-asswards.
Even to the point where a another person's sexual preferences should go to the gender, not the sex, of a potential romantic partner.
I'm pretty sure you're not entitled to anyone else's sexual desire. I remember being told this by Social Justice during the NiceguyTM era of dating discourse.
This is also the crux of why I find gender ideology so dementedly self-centered; your gender is ultimately only truly relevant when it comes to who you want to fuck and who wants to fuck you, which is a basic drive of being human. If you're ugly enough that a very narrow band of people will fuck you, that sucks. If you groom yourself weird, act/dress weird, and mutilate your body into something weird that an even narrower band of people want to fuck, that's a self-own. You don't get to shame and berate people for their sexual preferences because you made yourself less attractive to 99% of human beings, who's sexual preferences are tuned towards finding a fertile mate that they can produce offspring with.
Why are you expecting me to watch Brokeback Mountain as a media literacy test?
I was at Chicago's Navy Pier the other day and the theater there was showing ads for a play of Brokeback Mountain.
Yeah, that little dig sticks out as being the most narrative-over-reality. I distinctly remember Trans being pushed as the new demanded-empathy super-stimulus that every BPD person I knew was torn up about way back in 2012. Back then it wasn't even about encouraging people to be trans, it was "LOOK at these POOR people TRAPPED in the WRONG body" with much beating of chests and tearing at shawls in sympathy.
It's amazing how you can bootstrap a social movement by this method; suddenly every alt girl reacted to the R-word or mis-pronoun-ing the way a 20something beardy arab guy reacts to disrespect towards the Prophet, or an Italian guy reacts to something said about his mother by someone who has never met his mother.
It's not bad as sci-fi, but I find the prose itself a bit uninspired, and the film is a much better film than the book is a book.
Blindsight is also a first contact story that's superficially similar in premise, but much beaker and more pessimistic, and the prose is a lot purple-er.
Tchaikovsky is someone I have a hard time liking for some reason, but I have to respect his hustle. Service Model felt like a drawn-out joke, but a good joke. Alien Clay was interesting until it got all ineffable and commie, and I found the villainous regime to be a bit cartoonish. Made Things was cute.
She's a maskie. If you don't think that's bizarre and off-putting, you spend too much time among urban leftist queers.
Not to pooh-pooh, but I found the series took a dive around/shortly after Ghost Story, or it's possible I just aged out of the books. They're romantasy for lonely dudes (but still way better than the romantasy for women, as far as I can tell secondhand)
If anything, I was impressed with the restraint of the film itself. It could have dropped a lot more extraneous details or references to modern gender dating war cliches from one side or the other. My impression was one of the writer expressing his commentary, regrets and self-loathing regarding his younger-self stand-in MC. Other negative depictions of men just pile on buzzword stereotypes ("and then the tech-bro situation-shipped her due to his toxic insecurity and red-pill-negged her, something-something-agency, something-something narcissism, podcast")
You're doing that thing that leftists do right now.
It viscerally captured a bunch of feelings and experiences that I haven't seen portrayed before. Took me straight back to my 20s in a not great way. The worry that the person who says they love you is just mentally ill and loving you is a symptom of their mental illness.
Also loved seeing The Simpsons references.
This might be an example of the classic Little England attitude; they're all from foreign parts.
Dang, you beat me to the Noticing
Waaaaait a minute...isn't this just courtesans all over again?
Yeah. But, well, Influencers.
Tankie left will selectively use the language of the Mental Health Left when it suits them, to cover or to pander.
Yeah, you just don't mention it again and everyone assumes it was a miscarriage and you don't want to discuss it. But yes, Influencers are obnoxious, I know.
Maybe aborting your downs-y fetus is something you should do in private. This is intentionally trying to court controversy.
Instead of "white people being disfavored," maybe "shitty people who happen to be People of Color will take advantage of the special protections afforded to them to victimize others or avoid consequences. They know that if they say 'Racism' people like those cops or you will immediately jump to their defense. So maybe be slightly less credulous when someone cries wolf/racism." might be more convincing?
Is the video taken by the victim available anywhere? All I see is bodycam footage. Or the videos taken by the perp where he says the stabbed guy isn't stabbed?
I always request a black and white sketch/pen art style, harder to screw up. You can always remove the background with a browser tool after the fact.
If you suddenly have so much work done by unpaid interns, why hire any of them on for paid work? They leave, and their place is taken by yet another desperate unpaid intern. This isn't even slavery; slaves get fed.
Yeah, we def need more AoCs and David Hogs. How about Hasan Piker?
The lack of "Men Are All Such Trash Amirite?" was reassuring, but I've gotten pretty tired of hearing how great I am and still not being deemed worthy. Feels like being called a Nice Guy, and that's just 2012 all over again.
Sigh.
I went to a speed dating event that wasn't the one that checks vaccination status. It's been a year, the last time I tried one I ran into a bit of "men are all such trash, amirite?" and one woman who'd been to multiple events and was annoyed she kept on seeing the same guys. I didn't tell her maybe those guys are also disappointed to see her again. Obviously I didn't match with anyone, no shock, not much disappointment.
This time the most political thing I encountered was someone being an anti-nuclear de-growth-er. So no real complaint on that end.
I also had that same feeling I get when I go to a gamestore or some other geek event: "I'm the coolest guy here. That is not a good sign." A lot of lumpy faces and bad haircuts.
Three good conversations, three fine ones, and three eh ones.
After the event, two of my good conversations stopped me to chat. Apparently I was the "most normal" guy they'd talked to, my conversations were great. Also mentioned one guy who got way too handsy; including thigh touching. According to the bartender he's a frequent flier. So either he's not being reported, or the organizers have a high threshold for banning.
And of course, even with that tier of competition, no matches for me. My suspicion that no one ever actually winds up meeting anyone at these events is nigh-confirmed. I don't know why women even bother going to these if even the "best" guy there is apparently insufficient.
Another mildly interesting note was two women both mentioning being in a book club and being fatigued/annoyed that every book was smutty. Typically bringing up books gets me the JKR is a Disgusting Bigot line.

I'm pretty sure they do think that. Or at least that's what I've seen ostensibly-straight gender-ideology-adherent women posting angrily about on social media.
